Idle Thoughts, Where is Patfanken?

I think this is a fake Patfanken.

Kinda like the fake Paul McCartney after the REAL one died in a car crash in 1966.

There are clues imbedded in these new posts. I'm gonna read them all backwards.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts guys (and gals). Its nice to be appreciated....at least by some here. ;). I'm sure there were others who enjoyed the respite.

Nothing dramatic. I lost Wifi access for almost 2 weeks.

BTW- I have to admit it was pretty cool to come back and see a thread with my name on it. Is it wrong to think that? ;)

Thanks again to all who took the time to post on it. But I'm back and this thread should be relegated to the dregs so we can talk about more important things

**** you, you old bastard, for making us worry.

I first started reading his stuff on asfpnep roughly 20 years ago. During the glory days of Pio Sagapouletele and Devin Wyman and having your offensive lineman try to crowd surf at concerts by jumping onto 80 pound women.

While Bob Jensen terrorized us all there was kthaler to bring his list of points. Didn't always agree but always found them a fun read back then and I still do to this day.
classic Bob Jensen - "bowling ball w/ knives"
I remember kthaler - did not know PFK was one in the same.
Say what? Patfanken is Kthaler of the old ASFPNEP usenet group? Really??? I had no idea. Did Tollbooth Bobby end up at Jets Insider too? Ah, those were the days...

That google time machine thing brought me to this thread, still open a year later, talking about posts made to usenet around 20 years ago! That's pretty mind boggling, to me at least! Yes I was a lurker back in the old Bledsoe vs Mirer 9600 baud days!

1994 was my first days on the internet using these dumb terminals we had to do our job of silicon wafer fabrication but that were connected to the internet for no apparent reason. Read a lot of pats stuff and a lot of poorly written sex stories to pass the time.

That totally sounds like DEC.

I enjoyed alt.tasteless.jokes which was the Facebook of its day -- someone would post one joke, then there'd be hundreds of posts about how the joke was offensive, even though it was posted to a group that featured tasteless jokes. I'd skim the ones I thought was funny, perhaps tone them down a bit, then circulate them from time to time amongst my friends, at least the ones I knew could take a joke.

National Semiconductor. 12 hour shifts running a wafer aligner with a 3 hour commute. Newsgroups and email lists were a godsend.

must've not read any of my stories....

Bestiality ain't my bag, brah
you obviously have me confused with someone else. or maybe confused about the newsgroup. The "b" in ASB had nothing to do with animals.

He's busy promoting his new movie...

I've been wanting to start a thread for this but since this thread was brought up if thought I'd bring it up: Where's Mayoclinic? Last time I checked he hadn't been active since the draft. Always have enjoyed his insight.

I've wondered the same, although mayo may be busy at work. I believe he was an up and coming physician who was doing his rotations last we heard. He may be staring at 60+ hour work weeks now.

Hope he returns at some point though. Great poster.

So what's the scoop? Is Patsfanken on the great PUP List In The Sky, or what?
