NFL owners to discuss changing Goodell's role in disciplinary process

It took 24 days for the Patriots and Jets to agree on compensation for Belichick and a couple hours for Kraft and his would-be coach to reach an agreement somewhere off the highway between Boston and New York.

The Patriots will give New York their No. 1 draft pick this year and a fourth- and seventh-rounder in 2001. The Jets gave the Patriots a No. 5 in 2001 and a No. 7 in 2002.

Patriots Hire Belichick

I don't like people hating on Kraft and I don't like people hating on the French.

The people of this region stood up to England when it wasn't popular, how'd that turn out?

It's a really crappy time to keep throwing out disparaging comments about the French people. PC crap nothing. The vichy garbage is a slap in the face to the millions of French who stood up to Hitler and fought side-by-side with the allies.

Look it up.

That's right. And it was negotiated by PAUL TAGLIABUE, and we surrended a first round pick.

I remember thinking really? We just gave up a 1st Rder for the most boring man ever to stand in front of a microphone.

Damn, was I wrong. Not taking shots at you Deus, just sick of the vichy comments. I have a strong French family backround and I'm taking issue with other posters and there flippant ignorant remarks.

Just for the record, Tags is Italian. What's there WW2 history?

1) He did. It's an undisputable fact. Paul Tagliabule was the commisioner in 2000. We lost a 1st Rd pick to sign him for getting him out of his Jet contract. WE WERE DOCKED A 1ST RD PICK BY TAGS FOR TAKING BILL FROM THE JETS.

I'd send you a link but reading comprehension seems to escape you. No matter.

2) I'm backing up the owner of our franchise and I make no apologies.

You think he sucks and you hate him so much, GO FIND ANOTHER TEAM.

Good riddence. 9-0 and working towards Lombardi #5. I'm all in baby.:)

They weren't docked any picks it was a trade.

Agreed, and for me it is as much because of Kraft as Goodell, and possibly even moreso.

Kraft's ownership will likely outlast Goodell's tenure as commissioner, so we will still get no push back against the NFL* league offices when we are victimized in the future.

I've been one of Kraft's biggest critics over his handling of Defamegate, but the blame belongs squarely on the shoulders of Goodell and the NYJFL.

How much of a f***ing pathetic crybaby do you have to be to whine about someone giving you a dislike or disagree? Even more pathetic given your puff-out-your-chest-and-act-all-Mr.-Internet-Tough-Guy act in this thread.

He's entitled to his opinion and it's one that I can understand in some cases. If someone feels the need to slap a dislike or a disagree on someone's post then they should have the decency to explain why.

Now, can we get back to the topic at hand?

Does anyone believe that the owners are looking at making any meaningful changes to Fraudger Goodell's role? I don't. After seeing what has transpired the last few months I'm pretty sure that it's all lip service.

Yup, including the lips of the owner of the NEP.

The owners are not going to make any changes at all right now, for two reasons:
  1. A lot of owners like the way Goodell runs things re: player discipline.
  2. Even the owners that actually do want a change in how discipline is handled will never give it away for "free". When the CBA expires (or is renegotiated) they will want the players to give up something in return for a sane disciplinary policy.

Sometimes people accidentally "disagree" by touching the red x while scrolling on their phone. They don't even realize they did it.

There were some statements by NFL owners (and future NFL owner Jonathon Kraft) about revisiting how appeals are handled, so some owners are probably sincere. The NFL could also be concerned with how the 2nd circuit could come down on Artricle 46 in both Brady's appeal and Peterson's appeal. They have more leverage now than if the courts rule Goodell cannot play arbiter at appeals.

I didn't realize that. Probably because I never use my phone for the internet. As a matter of fact, I recently asked for an upgrade from my iphone6 to an LG slide phone. As the salesperson said, I upgraded to a dinosaur.

I think the players have gained a lot of support from the fans. I know I'll be on their side the next time.

We'll see how it goes. The owners were clearly the problem last time, but it was outrage at both parties simply because there might not have been a season. The owners have less to lose than the players, and there's no doubt the owners will play hardball next time too.

That was in the occupied north. Ever wonder why all the battles were in Normandy?
