Rodney Harrison: Patriots would benefit from loss

Troy Brown's response was, "Are you crazy?" LOL!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm wondering if Rodney doesn't want the Pats to go 19-0... if he's not on the team.

Just sayin'... don't taze me, bro. ;)

(edited title and post for clarity and context... sorry about that)

Bill Polian thought the same thing and had his Colts intentionally lose to the Jets in 2009, which allowed the Jets to get into the playoffs. #integrity, but I digress...

Colts did no better than the Pats.

The Saints that same year actually tried to win all their games but couldn't. But they were the ones who wound up winning the Super Bowl. I'm glad karma won out in that one; I wouldn't have felt good about the Colts winning thst year because of their actions (well, and other reasons....), and therefore I wouldn't want the Pats not to give their all in a game this year either.

I think Rodney just remembered how stressful it was for the 2007 team. Tedy Bruschi talks about it a lot. They think it affected them in the Super Bowl.

I think different teams have different make ups though. So just because it affected the 2007 team doesn't mean it will do the same for the 2015 team.

The stress of winning every single game is enormous. I understand Rodney's point. If it's easier to win the SB with losing a meaningless regular season game...then I am onboard with that. I want the Super Bowl.

agree. I have argued out here a lot this week, to no little derision, that, while I was never pulling against them in a particular game, I felt that they would have been better off with a loss in 2007. Is the dynamic the same this year? Who knows, but once burned twice wise.

misleading title. He's not suggesting that they should lose on purpose at some point, but rather that if they happen to lose, a loss can get them to re-focus on their weaknesses as well as later avoiding the media distractions of 16-0, 17-0, 18-0 ...

A loss does not increase the odds of a win ... it's an inane concept that while interesting to discuss simply has no validity in how the Patriots are coached from week to week which is one game at a time. The Patriots already rotate personnel every game and sitting a game only makes one rusty for the next. With how little they already wear pads ... missing a game only makes it worse. you play to win every game.

I don’t think we're going undefeated so it's probably moot. In fact I expect to lose this week to Buffalo.

That said, if we do, I don’t think it's the same as 2007 when 16-0 in the regular season had never been done before. 19-0 (sorry Shula, you were only 17-0) hadn't been done. Maybe I'm wrong but I think the pressure is way less;until the SB "all" that we'd do would have been done before.

I think it's wise to sit some starters. It wont be the first time.
Hypothetically...IF the Pats clinch home field throughout with a game or 2 to go don't be surprised if BB does rest his starters

QB and coach have been through this before. They will handle it better this time.

I would think a player would want to go undefeated. They would want to be remembered as being a part of the only team in NFL history to go 19-0. If they get close they should go for it. They have two leaders on the team who will guide them through the "pressure".

If we do lose it won't be to the Bills! In a perfect world it will be 18-0 New England vs 18-0 Carolina! That will never happen though!

:)Let it be at denver,we'll be glad to take the pressure off.
