Revis and Welker keeping their heads on a swivel - Week 11

Interesting to watch ex-Pat Darrelle Revis looking old and getting burned and then suffering a concussion on one channel while Wes Welker was catching two passes in four targets for the Rams. Both lost. Now, both guys have to be careful to avoid recurrent head injuries.

I'm definitely rooting for Welker to stay healthy and have a good comeback. I'm bummed to see Revis in a Jets uniform, but don't want to watch him with the shadow of head injuries looming all the time.

The NFL has to stay on top of this and keep looking for ways for these players to reduce the risk of these head injuries. Keenum should have been yanked by the officials at the end of the Rams game. He was in la-la land when he got stripped to set up the Ratbirds winning FG. The concussion system needs tightening and the helmet technology has to improve.

Gotta admit, watching Revis get owned by Hopkins on that deep TD was intensely gratifying. Belichick knew that deep speed was the one sorta-liability in Revis' game even last year, there's a reason why he wasn't tasked with taking out the speedsters. Looks like Bowles didn't get the memo.

If teams can get a faster receiver matched up in man coverage, teams are targeting Revis this year, something that never happened a couple of years ago. The Ravens and the Seahawks didn't shy away from Revis in the playoffs last year. I wonder if he'll make the transition to safety like Charles Woodson.

And it's not just the speed guys that have done well against him. Qbs just don't like to throw against him yet but once they start looking at film they might eventually play him less based on reputation.

He's also been getting burned on moves more than he normally does this year. QBs just haven't made him pay for it.

Revis will need to switch to Safety soon. He can't man-up on WR's like Hopkins anymore.

$39 million of which is fully guaranteed all in the first three years. This and the contract Miami gave Suh, and the Bills 140 million dollar defensive line, should help keep the Pat's on top of ge AFC East for a while.

Never like to see Welker and Mevis being given comparative treatment on Patsfans.

Welker put his everything on the line for the Patriots during his time here - a real warrior.

Mevis came for the ring and the marketability - he suckered NY into overpaying for him - he's just a mercenary.

The tough thing about all this is the only real solution is to simply not play football at all. This is football and it is the way this game is. I know that is a paradox, but noone wants to watch a "battle of the network stars" version of 7 on 7 flag football.

Many years ago, players died often in the NFL. Nineteen players died in I think 1919 or something. And no sport has changed as much as football has in the last 100 years or so. Eventually football will go away I am afraid. It could happen over night.

I really don't get the hatred. Both of these guys improved the team when they played here. I can understand a certain level of satisfaction in seeing confirmation of the Hoodie's decisions to part company earlier than others might have, but some of the schadenfreude is over the top.

It isn't necessarily hatred. It's more satisfaction knowing the correct decisions were made. In both instances, the Chicken Littles' preliminary whining and wailing far out-distanced any claims of "I told you so." I'll never understand the prevailing obsession in New England, regardless of the sport, with never saying "I told you so." Screw Welker and Revis. I loved them both and their contributions, but they both could have stayed and been well-compensated. But, they chose to leave. Screw 'em...
