OK. Now you're just being silly.
Actually, there were also several members of this board who saw that it was time to part ways with Big Vince and make way for new, cheaper blood.
Which of these players is a free agent in 2016?
Spell check for some reason wants it to be Nicks...
I think Siliga signed a tender this offseason making him a UFA this offseason.
I never understood the hand wringing over the move. Vince is an all time Patriot but last year he simply wasn't as effective, he had a handful of solid games but was no longer the dominant Vince of old. He got paid well, and set his family further up financially.
No bad blood, and Vince will be like Willie Mac, welcomed back with open arms and forever loved like he never left.
Branch has been the difference in run defense, which was questionable early. Good for him, he simple upped his game and turned ferocious.
The inside pass rush has yet to click IMO. When Sheard and Flowers, or others start adding to Easley's pressure, plus the linebackers, we'll really have something.
In terms of talent he has Ngata type skill set and athleticism. How that translates on the field is still an unknown.I'd stop short of comparing Hicks to a fmr All-Pro just yet.
Agree, though. I think they really try to keep him. He's youngerand quicker than Branch and a better rusher than Seal.
What exactly are the specific roles of the DTs, beyond Easley on third down? Brown, Branch, Hicks, Silinga - they are seem similar to me as cloggers in the middle. Is it just about keeping them fresh and having super depth? Or is there more nuance here, which I would love to appreciate?
I would argue the biggest difference between seattles Super Bowl winning team, losing team and this years team has beena chasmic dropoff in rotational front 7 players. They would destroy teams with constant pressure, allowing their secondary to shine. Now, with so many players signed to top of market deals, those guys are counted on to play minutes that works against their productivity, and their drafting hasn't filled in the necessary gaps.

I think you are misunderstanding what I'm saying. When you look at Hicks physical traits (weight, height, speed, etc.) he compares favorably to Ngata. Ngata was also his pro comparison pre-draft, Seymour was more of a end of the line type player entering the NFL. Seymour was under 300lbs and ran a sub 5 forty entering the draft, I actually see zero similarities between the two of them.If you are hell-bent on trying to compare a 3rd rounder who's career is in reboot mode to a popular fmr All-Pro DT, his physical dimensions and playing style are a lot closer to Seymour than Ngata.
