Amendola is best punt returner in the league this year.

As I try to keep reminding people - DA is an elite ST player. I cant seem to say it enough as people just keep forgetting.

He is.

It just so happens that Julian Edelman is the best punt returner ever. :)

As far as the OP - let's see how DA does for the next 6-8 weeks. I'm inclined to say yes, but let's see it in action.

As useful as this post was, I don't think his GF working for CSNNE really carries any weight. The average Salary for a news reporter is 38k a year, even if he could get 600k- 1 Million more, that would be her salary for 20 years. lol I think her moving with him is much more likely. lol
If she is happy there, there is risk in disrupting that. Happy GF, happy man. ;)

.
JE was the best modern day PR guy of all time when his average was 12.58 as we wont count the 3 guys ahead of him from the 50's-60's era.

However JE is now at 12.0 Y/R career slightly below Hester and just ever so slightly ahead of Howard. Regardless, JE is one of the best ever and if he can get his Y/R up about a half yard it would be difficult for the Chicago homers to argue it.

Hester was also scoring a TD on a PR on 1 in 20 returns. JE is about a TD every 35 returns.

Hester was also a dedicated return man who got 10-15 snaps on offense toward the end of his career. Edelman's played offense all along. So there's that. I'll stick with my characterization. Hester's a damned fine return guy though, don't get be wrong. Best specialist I've seen, kicks and punts.

He's a made man (trusted by Brady) now, but so was Branch, Givens, and Welker when they walked. I think he will walk but want him to stay.

I've always wondered how much Welker's feud with the team was fueled by his Hooters trophy wife? Doubt she was happy with Giselle's throwing her hubby under the bus after his SB drop. Probably wanted Wes to get maximum dollars to salve the ego bruises. That's why I'm not so quick to discount the fact that DA has a GF with a more professional career path.

I think it's a lot more that his agent misread the market for his services. (Cf., say, Don Yee, who is also the agent for Brady . . . and, IIRC, Garoppolo. )

I thought both his agent and his wife were fueling unrealistic expectations and discontent with the Pats, which is why it got so acrimonious.

Technically, he can't walk unless we release him. He is under contract for the next few years.

Agreed. So if/when they "overpay" him in the eyes of some, we'll both need to remind people that we're getting 2 players for the slightly inflated price of one

If Belichick thinks it's a good idea to pay him whatever he does, no one should second guess that

I just don't realistically know how many years left Amendola has in him

I think Quick Slants is a part time gig for Kay Adams. I know she used to have a fantasy football show on NBC SN. Either or, I think she took the gig to be closer to DA. She's not the reason DA will stay here.

DA will choose to stay here cuz he knows it gives him his best chance to win, and playing with Brady is a slot receivers dream. I'm sure if he knows he can get one more big contract elsewhere he might be willing to take it too though. These next few weeks might tell us more.

For anyone wanting him cut check out this BSPN article from Mike Reiss. Sorry I can't post it all. It's really long. Amendola is exactly the type of player BB covets.

"I'm my own business, and I'm competing with everyone else on the team and competing with the organization for me to get paid," he said. "At the same time, I'm a good teammate. I want to be there for my teammates. I want to be part of something great. ...

"When it came down to it, it was also about playing good football. I've been on a 1-15 team. I've been on teams that never made it to the playoffs. It wasn't fun playing meaningless football. When you're playing meaningful football at the end of the season, and every play and every route that you run counts, every ball you catch counts, and it's either win or go home, what I found in the sense of coming here is that's the most rewarding thing.
