Dan Wetzel:Bill Belichick's stiff-arm of camouflage campaign an unlikely coincidence

I hadn't heard that either. BSPN probably pulled one of their 12:03 am one time run reports.

Just did some Ben Volin research on Google and found nothing about teams giving back the $.

Did see that the NFL asked teams not to take money anymore.

Another thing to consider is that he's a 100% Navy guy. Wearing OD is probably be like asking him to wear Jets green.

By my eye, it's a generic camo, but probably closest to the Marine (Dept of the Navy) pattern.

CBS Butchers Ending Of New York Giants-New England Patriots Thriller

CBS was handed an NFL rarity yesterday: an exciting 60-minute game. But the network just had to find a way to butcher it.

With the New York Giants trailing the New England Patriots 24-23, the Giants intercepted Tom Brady at their own three-yard line with six minutes left in the game. Given the Super Bowl history of the two teams, CBS had what the NFL must have been dreaming about.

CBS was forced to allow us to watch the game when the Patriots got the ball back because New England was in a hurry up with no time outs left. So we got to see Brady orchestrate the winning drive that led to a Stephen Gostkowski 54-yard field goal with one second remaining.

Patriots 27-26. Should have been a fabulous last six minutes of television. Instead, we got forced-fed an overdose of promos. Memo to CBS: I am tuning in because I want to watch the game!

Brady might not use a huddle the whole game if they can mess up ESPN.s programming.

Not mentioned in the article, but another example on the same theme, is "I Resign as HC of the NYJ" written on a napkin. Hahahaha classic.

I'm sure someone told him, you can't just resign... then he says, why not?... they say, well, we need it in writing... and so he writes it on a napkin "there, better?"

He never hesitates to break with convention, and has deep contempt for the absurd. The former is what makes him such a tremendous innovator as a GM and Coach, and the latter is why he refuses to play the stupid games that the media, and society, and the league tries to impose on him.

Remember that BB was a huge admirer of Pat Tillman:

In the last conversation Tillman had with Bauer, he told his agent, “You won’t believe the letter I got from Bill Belichick.” In the letter, Belichick praised him for his courage, his leadership, his willingness to set an example for people in this materialistic society, and he said it was an honor to be in the same league he’d been in. Belichick said, ‘If you ever need a job when you get out of the Army, give me a call.’

Belichick’s Letter to Pat Tillman Revealed
What BB must have thought about the way that the Army handled Tillman's death, we can only speculate.

BB doesn't flaunt his opinions and I admire him all the more for that.

Great article!

"It isn't so much that Belichick won't play nice. It's that he won't play at all." :D:D:D

I absolutely love our coach! His approach to everything football and the NFL* is almost as entertaining as watching the PATs. For me, the depth of his genius and the complexity of his game is a joy to behold.
He is what he is. No one else is even close! Indisputably the GOAT.

When he retires, I want the NFL* to rename "The Lombardi", "The Belichick"! Not sure Roger and the other 31 would go along with that! :D:D;)
I'd like to see a post season award named the "Belichick Trophy" to be awarded to the highest performing UDFA rookie of the year.

Question is whether it would be forever awarded to a Patriots player?

There is much to admire about Bill Belichick, the coach and the man.

  • Part is surely that with his military background, he at understands the concept of higher authority. (That said, he did make a somewhat insulting hand gesture while the President was speaking at his latest White House visit, specifically in response to a Deflategate joke..)
he gave a thumbs down but with a huge smile (unusual for BB as you know) so it was hard to see it as truly disrespectful, more just playful.

I agree. Still, there aren't that many people who'd do that, I think, which is odd considering the venom with which Obama is attacked by people who aren't in the same room as him.
