Has anyone ever thrown a TD to an uncle and nephew before?
My uncle threw me a TD pass in a touch football game once when I was 12. Tough for anyone to top that.

I think we all have visions of a 3 TE offense where all 3 are red zone threats. It would be tough to defend. I wanted the Pats to draft Fauria just because I thought he looked like a good TE in college and because of bloodlines. Glad we got him, now it's all up to him to return the favor to BB and develop into a weapon.

Summary of Chandler chat: If a player isn't an all-pro he's trash.

I like Chandler, but for every good play he makes, he makes two bad ones.

His wide open drop against the Giants was so irritating to watch. Then a play later to see Gronk make an extremely difficult shoe-string catch with ease, made it look even worse.

I was telling my (uninterested) kids on Sunday, "THIS is the kick Bill Belichick should have tried in the Superbowl in 2007!" Glad he made it this time, and wish we tried it then.
What if Ghost had missed? Would he have been Norwoodized and eventually forced off the team, leaving the Pats to miss eight of the most accurate and productive years of any kicker in the NFL. (I'm not saying that the kick would have gone "wide right," only speculating on the outcome if it had.)

uh...regular season game, Norm? being a bit overly dramatic, wouldn't you agree? Losing a Super Bowl is a quantum leap beyond a regular season loss to an out of conference foe dropping you to 8-1.

With Edelman gone, our offense is dead without Gronk. They need to look at all potential options at tight end

Just a note here that Robert Turbin signed with Dallas. He had a tryout with the Pats last week and some fans were interested.

It wasnt an end of game kick. It would have been as forgotten as all of Vinatieri's misses/short kickoffs have been.

I do remember Vinatieri's short kickoffs. Returner catches the ball at the 8 or 9 yard line and returns it to the 30. Drove me crazy, along with the punting of Ken Walter and Josh Miller. It was fortunate that the Pats defense in 2003 and 2004 was very good, because we were always losing the battle of field position due to pathetic kicking.

Can he play in the slot or not?

Kind of a Chandlerish player. I wonder if they're disappointed in Scott.
The back to back plays where Brady threw a perfect pass for a guaranteed 15 yard pickup to Chandler who just flat out dropped it followed by a terrible pass that Gronk snagged a foot off the ground without missing a stride illustrates the divide in dependability between the two. How could Brady and the coaches not be disappointed when the it was so clearly displayed in that back to back sequence?

I always just assumed BB didn't want to put so much pressure on Gostkowski in his 2nd season...but I wish I knew the real reason why we didn't go for the makable FG. Maybe we will read about it one day in a book...

I imagine Cleveland is going to get cut, I just can't imagine they keep two tight ends on the practice squad

I think he simply did not trust Gost at the time. He wasn't as accurate as he is now, and I vaguely remember him missing a pressure kick somewhere else during that season. BB thought he was going to miss, so he opted to let the defense bail the team out out with better field position. Hindsight of course is 20/20 and if that happened today, BB wouldn't hestitate to call in Gost, and I wonder back then even, if he had another minute to think about it, whether he would have gone for the kick. Sigh...

Forum needs to take a deep breath.
Even given that Chandler coming in was not noted for having good hands, we saw Lewis drop a wide open TD, we saw LaFell drop several wide open passes, my hero The Squirrel drop wide open passes including an open TD plus one causing a Peyton 6 (Trademark), Gronk drop a couple open passes and even Dobson drop....OK kill that last example.

Unless you're referring to Wes Welker and Patsfans.com, people live with drops if the player making them also makes a lot of big plays. Chandler hasn't built up the equity to overcome the drops.

No he has not but it's a small sample size as of yet to go hard off on the guy. And yes I believe one reason Fauria was brought in was to create "competition" and get Chandler to focus more as he needs to do.
