Adequate as what?

Barker is a backup at every position on the OL, but he will be a backup.
"Just do your job."

In other words, adequate to do the job.

The job is blocking the Giants defense, opening holes for the runners and protecting Brady.

Backup or starter is a false distinction, it's in your mind not Belichick's. The job is the same either way. Just do it.

RB Marion Grice is interesting

6'0, 210

In 2013, he rushed for 996 yards on 191 rushes (5.2 avg) and 14 touchdowns, and also caught 50 passes for 438 yards and six touchdowns. All while missing the last 3 games of the season.

He comes recommended by @manxman2601, so that's about all I need to know. I do remember having discussions about him during the draft period that year.

Nonsense.

Barker was brought up in case some one was injured. He played 3 plays in the power formation. Backup is Barker's position. That barker is NOT a starter is a fact, not something in my mind.

BTW, Barker was cut today.

Hmmm Scott Chandler's days might be numbered if he keeps up his antics. Fauria is a great RZ threat.

Fauria is sucks. 3 of his 8 career TD came in 1 game.

Also not sure what antics could get Chandler get cut. He has 13 receptions on 21 targets.

I like the young Fauria too, but get real.
How can a kid CUT from multiple PSquads be expected to beat out an experienced veteran familiar with our offense especially when the kid missed summer camp here?
As to RZ threats, did you forget which 6' 7" player caught a TD in the EZ last Sunday?

The same 6'7" player who's been dropping passes all over the place, thus giving people a reason to think that the team might not be happy with him.

Hes only down for 2 official drops but I think its more like 5.

His career drop % is ~5%

I expected about 25-30 catches from the guy this year- which is serviceable. Nothing spectacular.

That drop vs NYG was one of the worst I have ever seen.

"Officially" he's only dropped 2, but I would agree it seems like that # would be higher. Lafell has the same # and that doesn't feel right either. Edelman led the team with 8, Lewis with 4.

On a positive note Amendola has none, catching 40 of 48 targets for an 83.3% clip. Gotta like that going forward. ;)

Dropped Passes: 2015 NFL Season

Another safety (likely a practice squad addition)

Another CB/FS hybrid?

Brock Vereen Draft 2013

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS
Very good athlete with fluid movement skills and good range. Competes hard. Runs the alley and can negotiate traffic. Good zone awareness and route recognition. Understands angles and leverage. Can carry receivers in man coverage with little wasted movement in transition on speed turns. Good leaping ability. Very smart, motivated, team player with a passion for the game. Can line up the defense. Outstanding work ethic. Contributes as a gunner on special teams. Has NFL pedigree. His 25 bench-press reps were most among DBs at the combine, and his 4.07-second short shuttle was second among safeties.
WEAKNESSES
Has tiny hands, short arms and lacks overall bulk. Does not have ideal length to match up with NFL tight ends in coverage. Not an explosive hitter or forceful tackler. Hands are suspect -- smothers the ball and has just four career interceptions. Long-term durability could be a concern.
DRAFT PROJECTION
Rounds 3-4
BOTTOM LINE
Intelligent, athletic, rangy free safety with desirable strength and cover skills to go along with football bloodlines. Needs to improve against the run but is instinctive and brings terrific intangibles that could propel him into a role as a starter and defensive leader.

You need manx now he was high on Vereen as SS/LB hybrid.

Hmm.. Does the addition of Vereen mean that Ventrone was released?

Yes. CB Chris Greenwood also added. Dewey McDonald also released - quick fall from 53 man roster to not even on the practice squad.

I expect another move will come once Chris Barker clears waivers and they resign him to the practice squad.
