Pats sign Chris Harper off PS

Harper is our #8 receiver. Gibson and Tyms were put on IR. Edelman is injured. Next man up. Harper is now #5. I don't expect Harper to get many reps as a receiver. However, if Martin is still injured, he could get some.

Had a great preseason, thought he might even beat our Dobson to make our 53 to open the season. I'm glad for him and really hope he can help us!!!

Think he gets more snaps than Dobson? pM

RIP Bam. He is in heaven now, playing catch with Sean Morey and Kenbrell Thompkins while Devin Wyman tries to sack Michael Bishop.
A little OT but Morey had a nice 11 year career as a special teamer, making the ProBowl, winning a Super Bowl ring and playing in 17 playoff games (12-5)

Some of you seem pretty fired up about our pulling a completely inexperienced SlotBack off the Taxi Squad.

Some of you are right.

There is of course no guarantee ~ far from it ~ that he will even Play, much less get a lot of Snaps.

But from my perspective ~ I simply ran out of time to write Scouting Reports on everyone I wanted to this Spring, as I usually do, for I must attend to my Earth Job ~ he is a phenomenal Route Runner.

I say again: a phenomenal Route Runner.

Had I had time to write'm up, I would've given'm a Warrior Grade ~ that's 2nd/3rd Round.

As a UFA, he was a Steal.

Hell, maybe I will write'm up this week.

It's not as if anyone can accuse me of doing so After The Fact, for he's never yet had a single Snap!!

Tom Brady has Final Say, of course, but he loves Spry Guys like Harper who know how to navigate.

He's already the 3rd best WideOut on the Field, and I pray that he gets the Opportunity.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna have to write'm up.

No problem, if I get around to it this weekend I'll do my Patriots season preview ;-) . Harper definitely intrigued me during the preseason and as I don't closely follow college ball I look forward to your insights.

I havent given up on Dobson Matthews at least deaerves a Practice Squad spot to see what he can do we saw how he almost single handedly beast us on the biggest stage.
I doubt BB doesnt remember and at least kick the tires on him.

Dobson is being heavily criticized in this thread while Harper is being praised like he is welker in his prime
Dobson's issue is that he fights the ball when he catches it. AKA 'the yips'., In 2013 he caught it pretty cleanly.

Vollmer seems like a reasonable guess: a week and a half is a pretty standard recovery timeline for a concussion.

Depends on the concussion.

Stork went IR/DTR for 8 weeks.

I'm pretty close to giving up on Dobson. If he can't break through now, with Edelman and Lewis both injured, I think his ship has sailed and he mised the boat.

Matthews might be worth a look, but doubt he has any realistic chance of contributing this year. Might be worth a PS slot but I'd rather hope he does not land anywhere else and then sign him to a futures contract. I'll trust BB to decide if he's worth a shot, reportedly he worked out for Belichick before the 2011 draft. He then ended up UDFA going to the CFL before landing in Seattle last year. Not much there to impress me. He's 6'5" but not too fast and definitely not shifty. Could develop but as a project not an immediate contributor. I'd rather see the PS slot used for OL.

Past couple of weeks there have been optimistic reports about Cannon and Vollmer. Hopefully they both come back this week. Not sure I've heard anything about Jackson, anybody have any news about him?
Maybe the second most myerious injury after Jamie Collins's "illness" is the Cannon "toe" injury. Maybe some ligament damage / Turf toe, or a partial break? Hope he's back soon - Brady could really use some pass protection.

I really wish we could have seen more of Harper and Tyms this year. Edelman and Dola are great, but a bit redundant. Hopefully Harper can surprise us and become a bit like David Givens was.
