Report: Seahawks cut Super Bowl star WR Matthews

Oh look the Dobson haters are out in force, let me put on my surprised face. Anyone who would think this guy would be an upgrade over Dobson clearly doesn't know much about football

I agree that anyone wanting David Tyree 2.0 over Dobson is nuts.

But let's not pretend that Dobson doesn't have the yips.

They don't need a big downfield receiver they need to figure out how to replace the production of Edelman and Lewis which is quick hitting and relieved the pressure off the OL. Amendola can pick up some of that as can White and Bolden but LaFell and Dobson will both need to contribute significantly to keep their offense rolling. Fortunately they should start getting healthier on the OL in coming weeks and Edelman will be back for the playoffs so the hope has to be that they can hold up on offense and the defense will get even better down the stretch.

I'd take Adam Seward before I took Matthews.
too slow ... not quick or strong off the line ... he's not right for our offense.

The entire Seahawks offense in the Super Bowl consisted of Jump Ball Joe lob balls to this guy. I thought we were playing the Ravens again. He had no special talent other than being unknown and tall.

Odds that Rex puts in a claim for him specifically for this week's game?.....

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Matthews was named the Bills captain for this game. Rexy puts more time into the gimicks than the game plans.

It took a year and a half before Amendola got on the same page as Brady and it took Lafell a half a season. How's a guy with 4 catches this season who just got cut gonna help at this point?
Well, Matthews would be playing with an actual QB, not a RB pretending to be a QB. That has to count for something right?

Rex really does focus on the wrong things.

No question that he's off-center

Exactly why was he cut? ...... and what exactly is his injury ? ;)

Because he sucks. He's recovering from a suckomectomy.
Can't be worse than Dobson, right? I like Dobson. I really do. I just wish I didn't need a defibrillator nearby when he's catching the ball. Even when he catches it, it looks like the most difficult catch ever

Yes, he can be worse than Dobson. He has proven to be tall so far in his career.

BB please sign this guy...could you imagine a big 5 wide line up that would consist of Gronk, Chandler, Lafell, Dobson, & Matthews?!?

Sign him up! The kid has potential. Say what you want but he showed up in the biggest game of his career. Besides, I'm sure the TB12 could make him out to be a better receiver than Wilson.

BTW, I'm aware that we have Dola & Martin, still. Just let a guy dream!

No, I can't imagine that.

Why do you trust Martin?

I'm not saying i trust him, but he looks a lot quicker, more confident and dynamic than Dobson.

Check Brady's quotes in Edelman injury articles. He has a lot of praise for Martin, then mentions everybody else but Dobson.

You need to win a job, nobody's going to give it to you.

Bill grab him quick!

Nearly another Tyree.

For the practice squad. He will never learn the offense at this point. The Pats can't have a roster spot for development project. He is coming from a simple offense.

Wow! clearly you have the ability to measure a player's IQ through osmosis.... Impressing.

....and here we go with the "He's 6-5 so he could be the next Randy Moss" crowd.

News flash: Tall WR doesn't instantly equate to good WR, let alone great. Moss was one of a kind.

News flash: every short white WR we sign doesn't equate to a welker or Edelman. Those are rare breeds.

Right now, the Pats need quick receivers who can run slant routes. Not a big WR who runs outside.

Every year we go through this. Big WRs that can be deep threats are overrated unless you get an elite one and then they are still overrated.

I swear Randy Moss has done more to brainwash this fanbase about the type of WRs this team needs.

Pass.

Elite Big Wrs are overrated? So Deandre Hopkins is overrated? Julio Jones is overrated?

You make it sound like Brady only capable of producing with 5'10" slot wide receivers.

I could name 10 wide receivers throughout the league who are tall and big who I believe would thrive under Brady

I think the concern is the time it takes to get open to actually take advantage of the downfield/jump ball advantage with the o-line as it's currently constituted.

WRs that can get open in < 2 seconds is pretty damn valuable to this team right now.
