Asking for your support

Are you rooting for the Patriots to go 19-0?

  • YES. Of course the Super Bowl is paramount, but I also want 19-0—time to make history!

  • NO. It’s meaningless and I just don’t care. The Super Bowl is all that matters.

I never understood why going into the postseason at 16-0 is more stressful than any other record.

In the playoffs every game is a must win or your season is over no matter what your record is. So why would 16-0 make u feel more stressed than 9-7. Similarly I disagree that being 18-0 in 07 had any influence on the players in the SB. You'd think both teams in the season finale really want to go home with the trophy. Not sure why the record up to that point would play any role.

All I really care about is winning the Super Bowl. Everything else is secondary.

That being said if we are sitting at say...12-0 or 13-0 then hell ****ing yeah let's go for 19-0. Play to win those last weeks even if we have HFA wrapped up.

I'm sure 18-1 still stings badly for Brady & Belichick. I'm sure they would love another chance at it. For right now it is one game at a time but if it becomes a legitimate possibility you can bet they'll want it, and the rest of the team will want it...badly.

Resting starters for two weeks has as much of a possibility to be detrimental as the risk of injuries. We could easily come into a divisional game rusty and flat and lose.

Losing the SB after an undefeated is not something I want to deal with again so if they don't drop one in the regular season they better ****ing win it all or I'll post words on the internet.
I'm probably one of the minority (I hope not though) who is VERY proud of the 2007 Patriots. I actually wish they did not take the banner down.

I agree with this statement. Winning a Super Bowl requires perfection in the post season. What better way is there to prepare for winning all your post season games, then winning ALL your games.. all the time? (Injury mitigation is relevant though)

Doesn't matter to me, because in the playoffs everyone is 0-0. And one loss ends everything.

Why would I root for the team to lose? Of course 19-0 is ideal. (And yes, of course winning the LAST game you play is worth more than all that come before.)

I do think the injuries affect expectations, though. With Lewis, Edelman and at least two real, live OTs, I think this was a team with a legitimate shot at perfection and the "best ever" label. Now they realistically have a lot more holes.

Superbowl win is paramount, but if it's done undefeated.... well then.... I might just bust a nut thinking about it. Imagine Goodell's and Shula's faces. Priceless.

Our team is much younger than 2007 and i think they would thrive off of it more than be stressed. Only worry is thinking they are "invincible".

I want 19-0 so bad, but not at the expense of health.
There isn't a choice between winning and health. Keeping players out reduces your chance to win the next week. Football players play football. A half assed weak of practice and sitting out a game sets players back.

19-0 is far, far less important than winning the Super Bowl, sure. We all get that. But it would be really cool, pretty much the ultimate exclamation point that would utterly annihilate any conceivable argument against Brady and Belichick as the respective GOAT at their jobs. Even the "cheaters!" brigade would have to shut up. Just imagining the heart attack it would give Shula makes it worth striving for.

True players have been injured in practice before

I don't understand how you can root for the Patriots to win each game, but not care if they win every game.

This franchise is one of only a handful of true dynasties to ever take the field/court/ice in the history of sports. One of the few instances where a team can be playing for more than a single championship year (of course no one on the team will admit it).

I just want them to win the next game, no need to jump ahead and play "what if."

We are going into week 10, there are a lot of games between the next one and the Superbowl.

I would love for us to go 14-0 by that time #1 Seed would be locked up Jets and Miami = meaningless games Jimmy G's time.

for those of you who think it is better to lose a game or two heading into the playoffs, who is going to stop this team in the regular season? no one. that means we have to go 19-0 to win the super bowl unless the broncos, eagles or jets get a fluke win.

Yup, I'd take 4-3 the rest of the way without hesitation if it could dramatically increase the odds that that Brady, Gronk, Edelman, Jones, Collins and McCourty would be good to go for the playoffs. But it doesn't work that way, so it's pointless to pretend that dichotomy exists.

I like Troy Brown's answer to the question of losing a game so you don't have the extra pressure of going undefeated:

"No man we play to win the game!...that's the object of the game you play to win...No it doesn't take any pressure off because once one team beats you everybody thinks they can beat you...regardless if you tank it on purpose, take Tom out, put Garopollo in, whatever reason why you lost the game every team thinks they got a chance to beat you now. And I just think you go out and play. You play to win every single game and the pressure part of it just comes from yourself, comes from within....and we won't have to listen to Mercury Morris anymore.*"

*Yeah I edited it a little bit haha

All I care about is winning the Super Bowl, if they don't drop a game on the way it's a bonus, especially since it will crush Shuls and the old fish.

Of course we want to win every playoff game. So this question comes down to whether we want BB to pull a Dungy in the last game (or two) to rest players or to go for the 16-0 regular season.

I'm hoping we're healthy enough by then that a decent rotation will provide sufficient rest and we can play for the 16-0. But, BB sees the condition, physical and mental, of the players and if, in his judgement, they need rest to ensure a SB berth I'm OK with that choice.

I don't give a **** about 19-0.....I just want to win another super bowl
