Edelman: Broken Foot, Likely Back for Playoffs

I'm not going to quote the Jets fans post but...

Pedestrian? Are you serious? Gronk, Lafell, Chandler (who did catch a TD in traffic yesterday) and Amendola is far and above the Jets offensive weapons. Not to mention others that will ost likely show better than anticipated. Guess the QB is pedestrian too. To call that pedestrian must make the Jets' and most others terrible.

Jees, overly critical much? I came just short of blowin' the Pats O and Edelman. But ya picked out "pedestrian"? Some here even "liked" the post.

However I wrote "almost pedestrian". Yes there's still Brady and Gronk. But you mention Lafell, Chandler, and Amendola like they're to be feared. Sorry, but no. They're WRs/TEs 2 and 3s on most teams. I'd easily take Marshall or Decker over them. (Jets don't currently have a TE. :( )

Need I remind you the Pats just struggled vs one of the worst defenses in the league? This talk of the Giants being the Pats "kryponite" is BS. The Giants defense sucks. Brees and the Saints O just lit 'em up for a record day.

I'm not saying the Pats O is bad now, but after losing Dion and Edelman, they're brought back down to earth. Luckily for you guys and for football fans not blinded by hatred, Edelman will be back for the playoffs. That's great for football because it makes the Pats O fun to watch.

From a football fan's perspective, this sucks. Edelman is a great player with heart. Never want to see a guy like him go out with an injury.

From a Jet fan's perspective, doesn't really mean much except that we may not have to hear about the potential perfect season much longer. First off, I hope you guys can't beat Buffalo next week because it helps our wildcard chances. But losing Edelman is huge deal I think. Short of Brady, Edelman is the next most important player. Especially after the loss of Dion.

Don't get me wrong, Gronk is irreplaceable and head-n-shoulders above any other TE in the league. But what I fear the most when facing the Pats is the insanely quick and precise passing game. I mean I'm pretty sure the Pats passed 90% of the plays vs the Jets. Edelman allows that. Perhaps Amendola can fill in decently, but no where nearly as good as Jules. His combination of toughness/skill/heart/knowledge/grit... (I can keep going) is impossible to replace. Add Brady's trust and familiarity with Edelman and it's even a bigger loss. Simply put, I'd much rather face the Pats minus Edelman than Gronk.

Now missing two of your best three options (Edelman and Dion) who also were the top two quick-release options will change the offense a great deal. Makes it almost pedestrian. Don't think the ball will get out nearly as quick or reliably, which then leads to more focus on the Oline. Which isn't a good thing. Brady will begin taking more hits. Gronk will still get his. Perhaps even more now, but I'd be careful not to overwork him.

From a fantasy player's persective, MOTHER @#%^$#@%%$%^^#$%#$@#@#$#^%^&!!!! I'm screwed! In PPR, Jules is the freakin MAN. Irreplaceable. But I thought I was slightly OK cause I had Michael Floyd and he was blowing up last night. Until he pulls a hammy. SOB!!! But I also have Gronk, so hopefully his targets increase a bit.

Overall, this sucks and I'm sorry to see him go down. Edelman (and what he allows the Pats O to do) is great to watch and I think this kills any shot of an undefeated season. Figure this puts at least three of the remaining games in question (yes, including the Jets in Jersey if we can right the ship). But overall, Super Bowl wise... no effect. May even help if the Pats can keep Brady and Gronk healthy. Edelman will come back fresh for the playoffs and kick ass!
Incorrect. Gronk is the most important next to Brady. Gronk is indeed irreplaceable and a top 5 player in the league. Great blocker (and we need all the help we can get), incredible receiving threat. Edelman is terrific but Amendola is rock solid in the short passing game for the time being.

If losing Edelman means no 16-0? Don't care, never did to begin with. If we lose out on HFA? A bummer but not the end of the world. We can take down the Bengals in Cincinatti with Jules back. I don't think our offense is going to stagger badly enough to miss out on a bye week. That's pretty much require us to lose 3 games including the Denver one at least. We'll be just fine otherwise.

I may need to start holding my breath for Gronk and Amendola. Its impossible to keep the injury bug at bay.

Giants play the Pats and like yesterday were bailed out by 2 atrocious PI calls on ONE drive on 3rd down. They play the heave and pray offense which most in the NFL should. This time, they had Butler to eat up Beckham.

Also, as singular players, Amendola et all aren't fearsome players outside of Gronk. It is how they are used together combined with TB make them lethal. Edelman went down and DA picked right up and got the tough yards needed. How many teams can do this without taking a massive hit?

Are these guys with the 8-1 Carolina Panthers?

Agree with everything you said, except that my opinion is incorrect. It's just that, an opinion. It's the way I view things, so hard to be wrong.

I understand what you're saying about Gronk, and that's probably the popular opinion. Me though, if asked what one player to remove from the Pats that would make it easier for the Jets to beat them (other than Brady of course)... easily Edelman. Maybe if Dion were still playing it'd be different. That'd be another quick outlet guy who's quick and shifty, and then sure removing the best TE in the game could be the better option.

Now though, missing Jules and Dion... think it changes the offense drastically. More so than just missing Gronk.

Again, thankfully it's only for the remainder of the regular season. I'm not a Pats fan, but I am a football fan. Not gonna let myself be blinded by hatred/jealousy. Ha, I've been beaten into submission. So long as Brady is around with the tools (Edelman) to do what he does, may as well enjoy it. Something to tell the kids about one day.

Vs decent defenses? Don't know if any can. However if the Pats can sustain this pace w/o Edelman/Dion... well that just adds to the legend of TB12 and BB.

Remains to be seen though.

When I started this thread "Edelman: Broken Foot, Season In Jeopardy"
I stand corrected, REGULAR Season in jeopardy is wayyyy better than originally reported. There is a realistic chance that JE will be back for playoffs. What is encouraging is Dez Bryant had same injury and is back and lookin pretty good on his cuts.

To be fair, they won the Super Bowl without Lewis. Of course they had Vereen but they usually are good at finding 3rd down backs. Edlemans injury is thought no doubt, anyone who says it isn't is lying. Still, they have Dobson and others that are decent receivers.

I dont thibk anyone is saying losing edelman wont hurt us...just that we can get through the rest of the regular season without him. As long as he is back for the playoffs. Has anyone looked at the pats schedule?

Other than denver...not a daunting schedule.

Bills
Denver
Philly
Titans
Houston
Jets
Miami

Which team there is an insurmountable challenge without edelman? Denver should be tough but i like our chances against osweiler or manning

we could sit brady and gronk for the last 4 games of the season, and we would still win

Exactly what remains to be seen? WTF does a stumblebum fan of the most pathetic franchise in NFL history have to say about ANYTHING to do with the NEP. You are completely ignorant of how the NEP is run and must be blind if "remains to be seen" is a question in your pathetic cerebrum after FIFTEEN YEARS of winning seasons, 6 Super Bowl appearances and FOUR rings. Really...STFU.

Hey bud, was wondering when ya'd show up. Your posts are always entertaining.

Jules is a great receiver and I'm happy he's on the team, but he lead the league in drops before leaving on Sunday.
Dropped Passes: 2015 NFL Season

Edelman wasn't at 100% with those fingers and his overall production made up for it, but I'm confident Brady will establish a report with our other receivers to fill the void.

Get well soon, Minitron. We'll make it through the 2015 injury bugs just like other years. Next man up.

As per WEEI, Edelman had surgery today and a screw was put in his foot. If there was anything positive about it, it is that Drs say he will be out 6-8 weeks making it in time for playoffs.
