OT: We broke the Seahawks' spirit

That entire forum is kind of sad to read.

Last year they were talkin about who's head they would prefer in their run to dynasty - Manning again or Brady?

It would be far from the first spirit we've broke. Hell we broke the Jets and Fins spirits two weeks in a row, as well as Buffalo and Dallas earlier this year. I'd say we have a knack for it.

Seahawks suck! I'm totally not afraid to start my fantasy players against them lol

Three things:

- No depth at DT
- Traded an All Pro center and a 1st for Jimmy Graham
- Dan Quinn

I would say more than anything it was bad personnel decisions.

They gutted their OL and paid an aging RB way too much

Should have

#1 Invested in the OL
#2 Let Lynch walk and bring in a good replacement
#3 added to the D.

Wilson is good but within in a certain context. Make sure you give him the #1 D and ask him to create 20 points behind a good OL and he can probably make a few plays.

The Seahawks had a great D and then let it become good. That was a huge mistake.

Yet, another example of having to strike (i.e. finish the job) when you have THAT team together. The next year, the team most likely will not be the same. If so, make it happen. Do not expect that you'll get another chance next year...too many variables. It's so tough to repeat. However, not all teams have a Kraft/BB combo and TB for their QB...and a host of players who can make and play for BB's team. :D

The Seahawks demonstrate exactly why teams fail in the free agency era. All of their assets who were playing way, way above their contacts, are now in line with market. They were dumb enough to think that "keeping the core together" would guarantee success in the NFL over a long period of time. You need to innovative, adaptive, and you need to draft very well to remain among the league's elite. Having an elite QB is also a critical component; I'd say Wilson is somewhere between very good and elite.

Their fans are a bit delusional but to be honest I had more respect for their team than so many of the other teams who have lost to the Pats. Nobody from the Hawks cried about cameras, ball inflation, head sets and they certainly did run back to the competition committee with their panties in a twist. I think there was a lot of mutual respect between the two teams after and guys like Bennett and Sherman have turned 180.

They might have lost in the Super Bowl, but they are not losers.

The funny thing is they should be 3-6 right now if the refs didn't give them a cheap win against the Lions where if the rules were called correctly, the Seahawks would have lost.

One of the more entertaining threads you'll read on an opposing team's forum. They're still feeling the effects of that SB loss.

Reminds me of what we did to the Rams in 2001. They were sure that a new dynasty would be born that night - they just had no idea it was a Patriots dynasty.

it als reminds me of what the giants did to us, at least for a while.

It's nice that some still think that Lynch just walks that play in even though last year's stats suggested it was anything but a gimme. They were going to have to pass one time to insure 3 plays with one time out and that was likely the correct down and package to do it with.

still haven't recovered from what bb/tb12/ and the butler did to them. haha

so much for the " dynasty "

I think Pete Carroll has lost some credibility with his players. His "Hey Guys" " Hip hip hooray" bubble gum chewing while skipping down the sideline like a giggling little cheerleader schtick is wearing out. That coupled with what those have posted about the handling of contracts etc... have them trending downwards.

"He's a players coach". Yeah that never lasts long. But hey, they did have a good run though. #almost a one time SB winning dynasty

What did the Giants do to the Patriots?

In 08 Brady gets hurt, their CB1 walks and the defense gets older and still go 11-5.

In 2012 they go 12-4 and lose Gronk and Talib for the AFCCG.

SEA really messed up by screwing with their o-line and have been bleeding talent at DL, OL and WR for a couple of years now. Getting Jimmy Graham was a mismatch and now sit at 4-5.

Yep. The Seahawks built their success on three monster draft classes, 2010-2102. Compare to their 3 most recent drafts:

Seattle Seahawks All-Time Draft History | Pro-Football-Reference.com

And may I add that you can withstand a few poor drafts with savvy, high-value free agent signings. That is, you can't build your team this way but can plug holes and remain competitive, so long as your draft drought doesn't last too long. The Seahawks, however, have not been a very creative franchise and are not value hunters. Their sole goal was to lock up their own players at all costs. Yet another team that was unable to sustain its success by following a flawed line of thinking. Compare that to the Patriots, who moved on from guys Revis, went with a cheaper option (downgrade in talent, but overall better for the roster with the savings) and used the money to sign Sheard, found a gem in Lewis at vet's minimum, drafted well for depth on the OL with some unsexy but solid picks. Let's think about how they'd be had they spent every waking minute thinking of how they must resign Revis at all costs to remain elite. That is essentially what the Seahawks did with 5-6 core players. They wouldn't even consider other options. They believed they must win as long as they have Wilson, Thomas, Sherman, Chancellor, Bennett, and Wagner. And they are all healthy, too, so they are now playing about as well as they can.

How did the Hawks manage to pay Jimmy Graham through all this money mismanagement?

Lost all respect for TE Graham when he was totally shut down by Talib. Showed he is soft and to suggest (as they did) that he is equal or over Gronk, ridiculous.
