Edelman: Broken Foot, Likely Back for Playoffs

Dobson had several steps on the Giants DB and was wide open on the 1st play of the last drive

I'd like to see him get more opportunities while Edelman recovers

I'd also like to see the Pats sign Pierre Thomas
No disrespect, but Dobson is not the answer. We've all been waiting far too long. He just looks awkward out there, and the dude just doesn't seem to have it. He's been given opportunities, like when LaFell was out. He has already outperformed Dobson, and he had a miserable first game back. I truly wanted to believe in Dobson, like you, but the kid just doesn't have it. But who knows, maybe I'll be eating my words later this season.

I feel the same way. Then again, I've been saying that since 2013, so who knows? They're obviously giving him an honest shot at developing and getting things down, but it doesn't appear that he's been able to take advantage.

I'd be more than happy to eat some crow right along with you, as we'll need someone else to step up--likely a couple/few options.

Decent tweet: Although Chandler's hands have not impressed me.

Option C could get the Patriots best players on the field.

I agree and think that Keyshawn Martin is the guy who is going to step it up. He has the quickness that thrives in this offense and he has showed some rapport with Brady. Dobson is an emergency backup to Lafell at this point.

Huge loss but i think we will be okay for the rest of regular season. Undefeated is still a possibility imo. We have the qb and coaches that can adjust to this, yesterday was understandable since it happened on the fly. There will be a plan in place the next 7 games (hopefully thats all he'll miss). The OL needs to get healthy soon though tha s the key. In 2012 our offense did fine in the regular season after losing gronk with welker/ hernandez /lloyd. We have better receiving options this year, and we dont play any great teams. Some good ones but none are great imo. The playoffs is where we will need him its hard for me to see us beating 3 straight great teams without him.

Hope we get him back by the playoffs, at the very latest.
Dez came back in 8 weeks from a similar fracture. Hopefully we'll see the same with Jules. Don't want to see him until January. No need to rush him back for the end of the regular season.

Tough loss. The only good news is that they have the talent to continue on and be competitive.

One guy that needs to step up is Chandler. That drop was awful.
I said the same thing about Chandler. He seems to be following that Tim Wright story arc, though. He shows up in spots and everyone is waiting, thinking that it's going to explode any game now. But I don't know if I still feel that way about Chandler. I hope I'm wrong, obviously, but I just don't think he's working out how we'd hoped when we signed him. We'll know more in the coming weeks with Jules out.

Sure was. Unfortunately that was Chandler's reputation in Buffalo. Hoping getting an earful from Tom Brady will motivate Chandler make the extra effort to catch a pass like that. That was ridiculous and if you noticed they took him off the field for a few plays after that.

This sucks big time. They need to not screw around with this. Foot injuries are very tricky, as we've seen with Dobson. They need to make sure Edelman is 100% by the time the playoffs roll around or stash him away until 2016. The offense took a while to find it's groove yesterday without him and the OL got exposed just a bit with Brady not being able to get the ball out as quickly. But they did find a groove, which is encouraging. I think this signals the beginning of more 2TE packages. Hopefully Edelman gets well soon and we get him back at absolutely 100% by the time the playoffs start.

Sign Hakeem Nicks. Pat need some depth at wr.

Didn't like to hear this AM that Edelman is needing surgery. I was hoping the break wouldn't require a pin. Healing time would be about the same but any time the skin is opened there's the opportunity for more trouble.

jones fractures almost always need surgery to prevent the player from re-breaking it. it happens all the time in the NBA.

Ya, I know. I nursemaided someone with four pins, one for each metatarsal, sticking out of his foot. Was just hoping for a modicum of good news amidst the bad.

We are fortunate that there is a chance he may come back for the playoffs and with two months acclimating more wrs into the offense we may be even more proficient in the long run. I am not high on Dobson but that man gets open and once our OL gets healthier and give Brady a split second longer in the pocket we can utilize him more. That's the thing with deep threats, they are useless if you have no time. Amendola was open for a big gain yesterday too but Brady just didnt have the little extra time to get him the ball. Our OL getting healthy will just be as important as edelman coming back for us.

There's a difference between doing something by choice and doing it by necessity. Unless Martin is back or the team goes three TE the whole time, Dobson will get snaps.

It was at least somewhat telling that Brady looked in Aaron's direction twice on that final drive, including a really important first down sideline conversion.

I don't see how this cannot be considered a huge blow to their SB aspirations.

Considering how poorly Denver is playing, it looks to be the possible difference between a 1st and 2nd seed. If Julian is healthy for the playoffs, it really makes little difference to their SB chances.

I don't see how this cannot be considered a huge blow to their SB aspirations. Only time will tell if it is ultimately insurmountable, but I look for the team to continue to fight it out. The O is diversified enough to cover up some holes. However, this is a growing list of injuries now. There comes a time when even the greatest QB and Coach can start to feel the strain of all of these losses to key players. I still believe that we have what it takes, but the road just got exponentially harder.

Idk about that. If they can get that number 1 seed anything can happen.

the only team that could trip us up is Denver, whom as you said is not playing well.

this is a race between NE and Cincy for the 1 seed. denver is out. cincy could lose @ arizona or @ denver.
