9 and 0, and feeling depressed :-(

I edit romance novels. Really.

God bless you and your patience. I recently went through a short internship period with a popular Homeland Security bulletin attempting to do the same thing (or at least something similar), and couldn't possibly have gotten out of it quickly enough. They were looking for a reporter with a journalism degree, and while I don't have that, I am quite familiar with the subject matter, so I decided to throw my hat into the ring.

I wanted the experience and addition to my resume, but I quickly realized that average/good/acceptable academic writing does not mean that one can properly write and edit articles on a professional level. It was an around the clock back and forth where my work was just picked through with a fine toothed comb. One must have very thick skin for that line of work. I spent many nights polishing my work just to come to terms with the fact that I simply wasn't good enough. Strict deadlines and careful selection of each word just isn't my thing, and I came to realize that I'm okay with that.

Cows have lost 7 straight, and they definitely could have won 2-3 of them with an elite coach. Proof that Garrett is no BB.

BB won a SB with an injury-riddled year, didn't he?

I've been stuck watching their disastrous season due to my wife's rooting interest, and it's amazing how many of those games they were leading in the 4th quarter.

They simply have no offense. Their defense played very well in the majority of those losses, but they just can't put points on the board other than the first game without Romo vs. ATL. That's the one where they blew 2 double digit leads. There was also another one point game (13-12 to SEA), and two OT losses. Hell, even today's game was another blown 4th quarter lead to TB.

Had just one/two of those games gone their way, they'd have still been right in the mix. I don't think Garrett is anything close to a good coach, but I do think that the majority of blame goes to their lack of QB'ing options. Neither Weeden nor Cassel can throw the ball downfield. They are insanely predictable.

My father was an assistant buyer/buyer in hardware for Sears. So he had to proofread some hardware sections of the Sears Roebuck catalog. Ouch! I inherited his proofreading skills.

So my wife had me do that, and eventually it graduated to general copy-editing and then general editing overall. Thus, have edited some best-selling fiction. Now she wants me to write erotic romance novels myself.

It also is a very useful professional skill. Almost all my income can be characterized as consulting, and the core of that is consulting about "messaging", as in How to pitch me | Strategic Messaging. While this is not optimal, for many clients a lot of the value gets delivered in last-minute editing of their press releases and other collateral material.

You have good reason to be depressed, losing Dion & now Edelman is terrible.

It will take us from a legendary offense in the making to merely very good. Brady was on his way to a top 3 or 5 season ever as QB with them. Those two guys out will knock 20 points off his passer rating easily. More importantly, they'll probably cost us about a TD in PPG.

Nobody we have is going to make up for either of them. If Edelman comes back anything can happen, but I would not be surprised to see us get shut down in the playoffs by a really good defense.

And I know its wishful thinking, but there was a small yet legitimate chance we actually could have run the table with those guys in there. That's done now for sure.

So yeah, we're spoiled as fans, and it could be 10x worse, but this still sucks. A lot.

You're acting like the offense is gonna play like complete crap. Pretty sure the offense did okay without Edelman and Dion Lewis in the fourth quarter.

I felt depressed too after the win. I love Edelman. He's one of the MVPs of the team. Never gets a lot of national attention, but we all know how important he is. I think people are way too optimistic that Edelman will be able to return. If he was really has a Jones fracture, that's one of the worst foot injuries and a very easy one to re-injure.

The streak is not important to me anymore. As long as we get the 1st seed, that's good enough. I can't bear to see another important guy get hurt.

It's somewhat comforting to me to remember how we made the AFC Championship during the horrifically brutal 2013 season (when Gronk who tore his ACL), but we struggled in that game against the Broncos. I fear it could happen against the Bengals, who have no major injuries and are running through teams.

I share some of your concerns, but I don't think we're at the ridiculously poor talent level (WR) of 2013. I do agree that they'll need Amendola to step up, and obviously, will be hoping for a possible Edelman return in early/mid January.

Someone else is going to need to step up as well, since it will be much easier to blanket Gronkowski. We'll be able to get some level of production by moving him around, but the mismatches aren't going to be there quite as often as they were with Edelman.

In the meantime, we've got excellent coaches and a future HOF quarterback, so I'm sure they'll be hard at work finding ways to be more creative.

Hey, OP. Watch this:

First of all, thanks for sharing. I suppose it sounds weird, but re watching that brings back those powerful memories when the emotion was running full blast. The first time I saw the behind the scenes look with the players mic'ed up, I got an honest to goodness lump in my throat. Strong stuff, right there.

Great team building reminder of what can be achieved when all of the parts collectively work together as one. That's what we'll need (along with some good luck on the injury front).

Now the stuff we don't want to talk about : 1) We see Edelman's obvious importance to the offense, so that's going to change things drastically and we really need to have him back for January. That game was all Edelman, particularly in the second half. 2) You can see what happens when Brady locks in on other targets. We've seen it with Moss and we've seen it with Gronk.

There are a lot of reasons to fear Brady locking in on a couple of receivers, namely our thoughts about the other receivers and also the chance that a good pass rushing team blows through a patchwork line.

That said, Gronk is still an amazing receiver, Amendola has been very reliable, and once he gets past early-season jitters, LaFell has been pretty good too.

Further, while we'd like White to be Dion Lewis, and that seems implausible in the extreme, we can probably get by if he's just J. R. Redmond. The real issue, as at least one reporter -- I forget which -- pointed out, is for White and Blount to get more reliable at pass blocking. If they can do that, then Brady will likely do the right thing about going through his progressions.

What would give me a sinking feeling at this point would be if Amendola or of course Gronk also got hurt. At that point the offense probably would be seriously hampered.

Yeah, I'm not meaning to sound negative as much as I'm just trying to point out what the 15 minute video showed. Some are suggesting that "we'll just go to Gronk now," and there may be some flaws to that thinking. As you mentioned, Brady will need to continue to spread it around.

Imagine the state of this board if they were around during the 89 to 93 season.. 19 wins and 61 losses??? The Samaritans hot line would be ringing off of the hook..

Not depressing at all, concerning maybe, but this is the 16th consecutive winning season.. folks need to have some perspective here.. things are very good.

I was feeling depressed last night too.

As great as the win was last night, it was still a tough game to digest. I was feeling so much anxiety after the game and then learned of Edelman's broken foot just before turning in for the night.

I woke up this morning feeling a lot more optimistic. The reality is we just won a tough game in a hostile place with a decimated O line, with our best WR leaving in the first quarter, and without our best defensive player. Aside from Solder, I don't believe any of the injured O linemen injuries are serious. We should soon have Cannon and Vollmer back at tackle, Stork back at his rightful place at center, and Jackson back in the fold at guard. Our pass protection will be fine and with Stork back at center, watch our run blocking drastically improve.

Amendola is going to fill in fine for Edelman. I have a gut feeling Keyshawn Martin is going to become a factor. He's a quick guy and his rapport with Brady looked solid. I think he may get Amendola's reps. Then with Lafell and of course Gronk, our passing game will be fine. We still have an elite offense. Edelman may be back for the playoffs and that's all that really matters. We have a two game lead for a bye and Denver looks to be self destructing.

Our defense is looking great. Butler seemed to take another step forward last night and Ryan had a solid game. I'm less worried about our secondary than I was earlier in the season. Our DT's difficulty in the run game early in the season is long over. Hicks has helped, but Brown is improving noticeably looking the the first round pick he is. Our pass rush is looking strong, better than seasons past. Jones, Nink, Easley, and Sheard are all make opposing QB's lives difficult. Of course Collins will be back soon, hopefully next week. He has become one of the best defensive players in the league. He helps everyone else play better. Hightower's game escalates a lot with Collins in the game as their skills at linebacker offset perfectly. I expect the D to be one of the top few defenses in the league the rest of the season.

If we can just have a little luck swing back in our direction with injuries, we are looking great for another Super Bowl run.

Never you mind. Our offense is the "Chameleon". We will morph this into a new look that will now include more reps with a talented Aaron Dobson and more slot looks for Amendola.

Fortunately, I don't have to sit through anything on TV I don't want to.
I'll be married 20 years in a couple of weeks. Sitting thru the occasional RoCo is required...

They need to start getting healthy.

Period.

Speaking of powerful emotions, man that Giants win yesterday felt similar even though it was regular season. Especially after the game seemingly over.

It was awesome to win that game and be 9 and 0 don't get me wrong. But first the O Line gets riddled, then Lewis, and now Edleman, freaking Edleman! It's like I wait all week for these games, then we win and stay undefeated, but yet there is still a massive blow to balance out or even nullify the elation of the win. Last week all week they talked about how are we going to win without Lewis, now it is how are they going to win without Edleman.

I am trying to tell my self, look around he league... teams that we supposed to be in it this year are plagued with injury worse than us. I feel like all the rest of the games I am mostly going to be rooting against injury on every play. Today for instance I would have taken a loss , being 8 and 1, and still having a healthy Edleman going forward over getting the win and losing him.

Oh well, part of the game.
They are going to win without Julien the same way they did yesterday. This team does not need to score 30 + points a game to win. They're a TEAM.
