ATTN: SITE SURVEY REQUEST

You looking for some ice cream?

Also, survey taken

Hahaha I requested that there be a chicken little alarm for the game day threads where if a poster is having a meltdown their subsequent posts are automatically converted to a gif of a unicorn pooping ice cream for 15 minutes.

I forgot to mention it in the survey (though I touched on a general thing that includes it) so I'll mention it here -- please consider eliminating the big banner picture below the forum tools menu and above the "Welcome to patsfans.com" bar. Or at least give users the ability to turn it off for themselves.

I know the pics are often cool, but they take up a ridiculous amount of vertical real estate and it's really annoying to have to scroll past them Every. Time. to get to actual forum content.

That said, I second the person who said upstream that this is far and away the best NFL fanboard out there. Not even close.

Ian, you're one of the nicest dudes on the internet so it always feels weird criticizing your work. IMO you should be a **** more often so this stuff would be easier on my conscience.

Any way you can make the Pats Pro Shop active area smaller?

I have visited that site more than any thread on the board.

And I have never intentionally clicked on it once.

Tough to find the 'perfect' balance between maintaining reasonable forum conversations, and content relevant to non-forum users (i.e., news feed, stats, cap info, blogs, etc.) - all while placing enough ads to not go bankrupt, and at the same time not so many that would turn consumers away.

Feeding three hungry monsters is no easy task; tip of the hat to you for somehow walking that tightrope without falling off in to the abyss.

And an equal tip of the hat to the people who write columns for free here who could easily have a lead column for Vox or Gawker.

Bump and grind, oops I mean done.

Can't complain about too much.

I'm a member on a lot of various forums and only this one (+ 1 other) has a forum software that lets you know when someone quotes you. Even that 1 other forum who has it, is missing a ton of other features we've got here (like embedding tweets). They're such simple things but make a huge difference.

I only have 2-3 main forums, but I've posted on about 30-40 total over the last few years and this is definitely the best user experience by far.

One thing that was mentioned in the survey was the twitter feed. I don't get anything on the right side of the page, although I do see one at the top. For some reason it shows a tweet from 4 hours ago, 2 days, and 12 hours ago. Personally, it's not a huge deal since I follow most necessary Patriots twitter accounts on my own but just thought I'd point that out.

Also, we might need a :( (Sad) rating for posts with all this depressing injury news.

Anyway, thanks Ian, mods & anyone else who contributes big time!

#6 shouldn't be mandatory - it applies only to those that don't read the local pieces.

Ian, I've provided my feedback, but want to reinforce the previous comments about the superior quality of this site. Not only the format, for which you are to be praised, but the quality of the members it attracts, their thoughtfulness and civility is unmatched. Thanks for the great work.

on

Totally agree.

The only thing I 'voted down' was the section of player tweets on the main forum page. They work fine on my laptop because it's a damn fast machine but they don't work fine on my tablet or phone. They seem to take a lot longer to load so when they finally do show up the page redraws which means whatever I was reading scrolls off the page.

I find I don't use the tapatalk app on my phone or tablet. It's just easier to load a browser instead of having a different app to read patsfans.com content. In general the browser approach works fine except for the tweet problem I'm mentioning above.

And overall I'll just deal with the slow load of the tweet section as long as you chose to provide it. It's your train set, after all! And I understand it's a good thing to try new things that make the site even more interesting.

Quick bump - thank you to everyone who has filled this out so far. There have been a lot of comments that have the wheels turning for some changes and others have made me aware of a few things I didn't know, so I appreciate it :)

Could do without the video ads (although I understand why they're necessary) other than that this site is amazing.

This has been great so far, keep them coming :)

And this was one of the best responses so far that made me laugh:

"Make patfanken post more..he's the best"

You listening @patfanken ? Your fans are singing your praises :D
The highlight of my day, Ian.....and thanks for nothing, Ivan.... ;)

BTW- I failed to mention it in the survey, but there are times when I wished there was a "thank you" icon as an option

I've requested those be disabled many times - and each time each of the two networks always claims it's not them and points the finger at the other...extremely annoying

Done. Great fan site and I couldn't be happier.

Funny that you mention it, I'm working on something like that and another that should be kind of fun. Hopefully that will get done this weekend :)
