Edelman: Broken Foot, Likely Back for Playoffs

I think Edelman, Amendola and Martin would all have to go on IR before BB looked at signing Welker. Alas, he has already signed with the unparalleled Jeff Fisher.

Dez came back from it. Just grab one of those byes

Wasn't it a 6 week time? Then I remember it wasn't until last week he wasn't feeling 100%.

The issue also becomes, you spend the rest of the season playing with the guys you have in a groove, your now throwing Edelman back in the system when everyone else is acclimated to playing with each other for almost half a season. It just doesn't work like that. Even if he comes back, he won't be the Jules we know.

Julian Edelman will undergo surgery Monday for a broken bone in his foot, per source. There is hope he will return this season, per source

Schefter

Getting Collins back and a healed line will remedy a lot of the current problems. Jones injury is bad but not a season ender. The D can carry them the rest of the way until Jules comes back.

You act like he's going to sit on his Barc-o-lounger, and eat Bon Bons and fried butter for 2 months.

You act like you don't know simple biology. When you don't use muscles consistently like Jules you lose muscle mass in a matter of a few weeks.

This stinks. Bad timing. The afc's wide open now.

Honestly Jules is done for the year. Gotta move on. It'll take some adjusting but with everyone's binky in Martin, amendola and Dobson we can manage.
Where did your residency take place? You seem to be a better doctor than most.

Maybe martin can be that slot guy. Who knows

Hey look at it this way, if Jules was going to get hurt this was the best time to do it. He's contributed through 9 games to give us a big lead in the playoff chase and gets to heal up in time for the playoffs.

@Joe Kerr

Patriots still have Bill Belichick -head coach
Patriots still have Tom Brady- an OK QB
Patriots still have TE Gronkowski
Patriots will be returning to full strength on the O line soon..
Collins will be back next week
Yup...everything us REAL BAD and the whole season is in the shytter now because of ONE WR injury
Patriots just suck at roster building, obviously, and it's all real bad all the time
Guess it's time to round up my goo gee gaa gaa fantasy reports and my collection of hero worship NFL posters like Bust Mode
and sure handed Calvin Johnson and go looking for that team that KNOWS how to build a proper roster that can survive the DEVASTATING Edelman injury.
Either that or go sit in a corner and suck my thumb like the freakin' spoiled little brat frontrunner I've always been.

In fairness, this is mature, developed muscle we're talking about and it's not like he is going into space for two months. Yes, he may atrophy a bit but at this stage in his life that muscle is well developed and is the norm for his body. It'll come right back on and will fire again like it did. The nervous system doesn't atrophy nearly as quickly as skeletal muscle and that is where the upper echelon performance is.

His foot muscles?

His foot will be in a boot. He will not be in a body cast.
