Deadspin: Inside the Greg Hardy hearing

Just out of curiosity is there ANY national show pointing out how hard the nfl went after Brady for possibly deflated footballs and how soft they went on this obvious woman beater?
For all the media who use to say Kraft had Roger in his back pocket, I think that's more like Jerry Jones. I can't think of another reason why they would let this POS play, who obviously doesn't regret a thing. And listening to Jones defend him is sickening!

I actually disagree with this.

Ray Rice's actions post-issue tell me this was a one time, out of character thing. Not to mention, not a single negative thing was ever brought up about him character wise prior to (which is what made it a shock in the first place).

You do not go from never assaulting a woman to knocking your girlfriend out with a brutal right handed punch to the jaw.

I've changed my stance on the Ray Rice issue after reading a few DV articles that pointed out that allowing an abuser to follow the right channels (counseling...etc...) to get back to their lives/careers would be beneficial to both the victim and the abuser. IF you do not allow them to do so it would lead to less women reporting a DV incident for fear of losing everything else that matters to them. If the victim knew that reporting her offender would lead to counseling etc.... but would not rip her home, her children's home etc... away from her that she would be more likely to follow through by reporting the incident.

Ray Rice has gone to counseling and has made all the right gestures and he was apparently honest throughout the ordeal. So he should be allowed to play.

I think that should be the NFL's stance. A player involved with a DV case must complete various required DV programs, receive therapy and meet specific goals prior to being allowed back into the NFL.

Hardy has only lawyered up and slimed his way back into the NFL. But Hey!! He's a great pass rusher.

Jerry has no soul. He's wants another SB so badly he will do anything to get it.

It's obvious what this was: a pony show the NFL could use to cover their butts and say "Look we had an appeal hearing." The hearing was insanely one-sided. Just as with deflategate, the NFL had predetermined the outcome they wanted, and everything from that point on was a formality. Might as well have had Goodell hear the appeal.

I hope this continues to blow up in their faces, those hypocritical bastards:
Texas Republican asks NFL why Greg Hardy in on the field

There was talk that Deflategate happened because there was a revolt against Goodell and people went rogue. Maybe he isn't well liked among the League office and there are people in the League office who look for any way to make him look bad.
Kensil going rogue in Deflategate was not to take down Goodell but to curry his favor - like your cat bringing you a gift mouse. Goodell should have told Kensil to chill but, being as ignorant as his underling on all things IGL, he thought he indeed had a gift mouse and ran with it 'til it was too late to back down.

Jerry knows that he's racing the clock to get another SB before he moves on to the great owner's box in the sky

And after seeing recent pictures of him, my money's on the clock

Hopefully, when Jerry gets there the seat will be missing, just as it was for those fans who tried to go to the SB in Dallas.

It's nice that some of you guys think Ray Rice hadn't done this before. It probably speaks to the goodness of your character rather than his. The experts (and I do not count myself one) say differently. Janay Rice Says Ray Rice Only Hit Her Once, But Domestic Violence Experts Remain Skeptical
“In general, it would be my experience that the severity of the punch would indicate that it was not the first time,” said Lisa C. Smith, an assistant professor at Brooklyn Law School in New York and former chief of a domestic violence unit in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office. “Conventional wisdom in this field is that most victims do not report until there have been numerous instances."

Janay Rice said Monday “there’s no way” her husband would assault her again. But domestic violence experts said re-offending is a serious possibility in many abuse cases. There are ways to reduce that risk, such as therapy and other forms of treatment, but without such interventions, Ray Rice likely will abuse his wife again, said Steve Abrecht, a threat assessment expert in workplace violence, school violence and domestic violence prevention who served six years on the San Diego Police Department’s domestic violence unit in California.

“If he gets treatment for anger, understanding gender differences, and low self-esteem, then there is hope that he will not re-offend,” Abrecht said. “If not, she will be like all other previous [domestic violence] victims: living in constant fear and waiting for that moment when they say or do the ‘wrong thing’ and it happens again.”

I don't believe it. If he had never decked her before he would have been crazy with concern when he knocked her the f.ck out, instead he stepped over her and dragged her out of the elevator like a side of beef telling her to "get up." A normal person who lost control and did something that horrendous would have been shocked and concerned and calling for a doctor to help, Rice acted like there was nothing wrong.

the nfl doesn't give a **** about women/domestic violence.
they tried to take down brady to deflect from real issues. and it worked for the most part...
all offseason nothing but brady stories/little on hardy.

why didn't goodell act as the arbitrator for hardy?? like he did with tom? he could of simply kept the suspension at 10 games instead of handing it off to hendersen..
He knew it would be overturned in court.

The important bit here is that the league leaked this transcript. No one else couldve. They continue to do what they do.
Well, /someone/ connected to the league leaked it. It's possible that even the league office has ONE decent individual.

Whomever leaked this to Deadspin clearly has a conscience and felt the league didn't handle the Hardy situation any better than they did the Ray Rice situation. If Myra was still around, you could guarantee that someone from the League office would be gone, possibly even Goodell himself.
Nice though, but I'm pretty sure Myra didn't have firing powers at the league office, just the team. Even Kraft doesn't have that. He could exert pressure, but even a full vote of the owners couldn't /force/ a firing, although they could make it pretty unpleasant for Rog.

Well, if they really wanted to go full nuclear:

If, by reason of physical or mental disability, the Commissioner is unable to discharge or perform the duties of his office, or is unwilling to do so, then during any such period, the Executive Committee may require any other member of the Commissioner's staff to perform such duties of the Commissioner.

The Executive Committee is basically the owners. I say do it.

I'll assume that no-one read the 33 pages in the transcript, just the "juicy" tidbits that Deadspin pulled out to appeal to your already made up minds. Very similar to how the media proved Brady guilty of deflating balls because of some "juicy" text messages. The hypocrisy on here is mind-blowing. We just went through the same BS with Brady and now we are eager to torch Hardy, over some trickster? Stop it, already. Read the 911 call: Why is she pleading with him to not call the cops? "I don't wanna get arrested. I don't want to get arrested, Greg!" Yeah, most abuse victims I know aren't been held by back their abusers' manager and pleading for him to drop the phone because they don't want get arrested. What was she supposed to be getting arrested for by the way, assuming she's all innocent and stuff?

I agree with Greg's new bio page on Twitter. He's 100% right. I already said, he isn't feeling any remorse because he didn't do anything, that anybody wouldn't have done in his situation. He probably assume that all women are gold-digging [insert the insult] now, because of one incident. It sucks because cases like this one, gives actual abuse victims a bad name. No-one is talking about the hockey player who allegedly whooped his girl's behind, but we're talking about Hardy and we wonder why players are so quick to pull the race card with the media and judgmental public.

I'm going back to reading the transcript before giving my full concluded opinion on the matter.

Actually, it's about ethics in game journalism.

More info from the transcript:

Kristina Laurence told the officer one hour after the 911 that she "didn't see anything." Yet the media, always looking for a big story, had this information, but refused to report it because it didn't fit their narrative.

What was worse is that when Hardy's ex escaped the so-called 20 minute beat-down, being choked out and all that BS, she ran to the lobby, went out the doors and instead of reporting Hardy to the 3-4 police cars, called by Hardy, BTW, filled with police parked in front of the apartment building, she runs past them, down "fifth street towards church street." Some "victim," right? What victim avoids the police? This was the officer's testimony, by the way. He and his partner had to yell for her stop running, not once but 3-4 times.

They watch the police video of her, she refuses to give a statement and she doesn't appear to be in any pain that one would suffer during a 20 minute, near death, about to die beatdown. During that video she called and texted Hardy 20 times and he didn't respond to any of them.

If anyone is really interested in knowing the facts, read page 55 about his court situation. This "victim" confirmed her obsessive, stalker and psychotic behavior towards Hardy in her own testimony. Yelling that some "bum" attacked her, to get Greg's attention and kicking and denting up his sportscar. The girl had a thing for theater, it seems.

She testified she was slammed into a bathtub, however the bathroom is the size of a small closet. There's not enough space for a man of Hardy's size to pick her up and slam her anywhere in there. She told doctors she was punched, choked, dragged, bodyslammed into a bathtub and tossed, over Hardy's head onto a couch of guns. Her medical reports showed no signs of fractures, broken bones, no muscle tears or stomach problems, no signs of being choked around her neck. Just typical bruises, but not bruises that were consistent with her story. He could've pushed her into a wall to defend himself or she could've fell or been bruised the previous night, who knows. He doesn't look guilty and the only thing she is victim to is being dumped by a rich NFL boyfriend.

Hardy, as I've argued before, is no more than a victim of a scam artist, who wanted money for her new gucci dress and prada purse. There are no stories out there about Hardy being abusive or violent towards others. OK, he had an outburst on the sidelines, after all that he's been through who can blame him. Brady has outbursts on the sidelines, am I now going to assume that he whoops Gisele's boney butt, when he can't get his way. There is no motive for him beating up this girl, there is no evidence that she went through all that stuff she claimed she went through.

Still reading...

Nobody knows where Hardy's girlfriend is located.

Are we sure he paid her off????

Has anyone checked the mud flats under the Neponset Bridge ?
