Jonas Gray waived by Dolphins/Should Pats sign Gray?

How much would he cost? Depth would be nice, at a nice price.

I'd take Gray back again. I thought his best role would be as a setup for Blount. Run Gray early and hard to warm up the O line and tire out the opposing D line. When they start arm-tackling bring in Blount for the home run. I don't know why Miami let him go but it looks like they want to sneak him through to their practice squad: Dolphins sign Jacques McClendon, waive Sam Brenner, Jonas Gray
Gray, who was waived by the New England Patriots at the end of the Preseason, returned to Miami this year after having spent the 2012 season with the Dolphins, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. He saw his first playing time last year in eight games with the Patriots last year. He was initially signed to the practice squad, then promoted ahead of Sunday's game. Now, it appears Miami will try to put him back on the practice squad.

No thanks. Rather have Cadet back who should be healthy now and can show us why they signed him in the first place.

Cadet signed with the Niners, he's gone.

As for Gray, did you all miss the Dolphins game? He was atrocious catching out of the backfield.

No thanks. We already have a power back, and a good one at that. Give me Archer or Ball.

I prefer archer. Maybe BB's satisfied with james white and bolden

If there's a post in the forum anywhere that Tri Archer has a single asset as a RB that the Pats would value, I missed it, and would appreciate a cross link here. (And please, sprinter speed alone is a joke of a reason.)

There is one scenario where having Gray would be a huge help.

What if Blount would get hurt? We would have to have a bigger back to replace him (I know Bolden is decent size, but he's not known for durability).

I am not a fan of his attitude either but hell, I'd take him back.

It's not like he won't be available later on. I'd pick up Cadet first.

Didn't see anything on the Cadet signing with Niners on ESPN NFL transactions site.....nothing on Niners website either.....

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that free agent Travaris Cadet IS SIGNING with the Niners, per a source informed of the move. Three teams had interest in the shifty back.

That explains why it isn't showing up as a transaction anywhere......Niners signed another RB this week.

Nabwong, what is that man in your sig doing? Hmm?

that man ? isn't that jean claude ?

i thought cadet was back in new orleans but i guess he's in sf.

my charger friend says bb did jonas dirty...i guess miami did as well. wouldn't mind seeing him back.

I have to believe that before Cadet signed with the Niners his agent called Caserio to get a feel for the Pat's interest in his client. Since he signed with SF, I also have to believe that for whatever reason, Caserio told him they didn't have much. Because why would he sign with the train wreck that is the Niners, when he could get national exposure and a ring with the Pats, UNLESS he knew they didn't want him.

Time to move on,. and Gray looks like the most likely option. He'd be a good back up to Blount and one dropped pass doesn't make him "atrocious." IIRC when he was with the pats he had a few catches.

Maybe the reason the Pats passed on Cadet is that they think they can get what they need using formations with Amendola or Edelman in the backfield, with another combination at WR. Who knows.

Maybe Cadet felt like he had more long-term potential to get a long-term contract in San Francisco. Lewis is locked-and-loaded as the receiving back next year, and the Patriots kept White and Bolden over Cadet going into the season. For the Niners, Cadet has no real competition as a third down back in this season, and with a good showing could earn himself a deal similar to Lewis because they have no one but Hyde and a broken down Reggie Bush.

Ultimately, though, I agree with you. The Patriots kept White and Bolden (the latter, albeit, mostly for his special teams contributions) over Cadet; there's no real reason that pecking order would have changed over the intervening 10 weeks.

I don't think they're going to sign anyone - just a hunch. Still have two guys coming off PUP and signing someone while IR'ing those guys costs $$$...and means they cut someone else.

Bolden is way unappreciated here on this board. Not only is he a special teams monster, he's a decent runner with a good burst off tackle, and can run routes and catch.

Time for White to step up - that's why he's on the damned team! - and time for Bolden to be Bolden, doing everything he's asked to do without a whisper of complaint.
