We're on to the Giants

So are we " on to" the Giants, or "onto" the Giants?

If we are "onto" the Giants we can put an end to whatever crap they are pulling in our Superbowls.

IIRC, the Giants are the only ones the Pats don't have a winning record against. If they win this one, they will have a winning record against every team in the league since the Brady era started.

Not true. Brady has a winning record against every team in the regular season. The playoffs are a different story

JPP worries me with our injuries at tackle. Even though it was his first game back, he still looked good at times. Would expect him to be better next week.

Well he might get to Brady, but he may have a problem wrapping up.

Look, this is a Tom Coughlin thing. Belichick and Coughlin had offices next to each other in Giants Stadium when they were assistants to Bill Parcells. Coughlin is the only guy in the league who can match Belichick move for move. If the Giants have the players, they are always tough to beat.

They have a similar approach to their assistants - OC Ben McAdoo is a lifer who never played football but who rose up through Michigan State, the Packers and the Giants as a position coach and now as OC. DC Steve Spagnuolo is a guy who went to Springfield College and moved around as a coach until he caught on with the Eagles and legendary DC Jim Johnson. He's back with the Giants for second stint a la Josh McDaniels after a shot as HC.

These are extremely well-coached teams. The battle will be on the sidelines this week, and with the Patriots offensively line in a state of transition, you can bet Coughlin will cook up some exotic looks.

Look for a low-scoring affair played out in the trenches.

The Giants defensive secondary is hot garbage right now and I'm not sure their pass rush is that much better. If Brady is given time, I expect the Patriots to absolutely throttle them. People keep thinking that this is the 2007 and 2011 teams.

Despite all this talk about the Giants' D being weak, Brady is approaching this as if it were an uphill battle

“We’ve always had a hard time beating these guys, for one reason or another,” quarterback Tom Brady said Monday morning during his weekly appearance on sports radio WEEI. “So hopefully we can get over our struggles and finally go out and play well and beat them.”

The last time any of "those guys" played the Patriots in a meaningful game was 4 years ago.

How many of "those guys" are still on that team?

Brady is just merchandising this game.

I think he's genuinely shaken by those losses. I mean, who wouldn't be?

No, it's really more of a match up thing. NY's speed on DL gave the Patriots more problems running the ball then you'd expect, forcing them to rely on the pass. NY also played a lot of man eliminating NE's masterful zone busting route concepts and giving the DL the extra second they needed.

The Patriots had a great plan when NY did the exact same thing in 2011, but they just didn't have the weapons to overcome the lousy field position.

The only way this happens is if NE's OL is finally exposed. If they are healthy there is no way NY holds them under 30.

I have long let go of the disappointment of SB 46. We were hurting that game and just didn't have the horses to overcome it like you said. SB 42 however I cannot forgive them for choking that game away. it was just a piss poor game called by Josh McD and he refused to change his game plan when it wasn't working.

Are you sure about McD being stubborn that day?? Seemed to me at the time that the Pats tried an awful lot of things and none of them worked other than short passes to Welker. I'm not sure what you expected McD to do, but the running game was stuffed, the screen game as well, they couldn't block Justin Tuck so there was not enough time for things to develop downfield, and the Giants controlled the clock for much of the game.

Vereen has been decent for the Giants this year. 41-174 rushing and 34-309 receiving and a couple of good returns.

At least the Pats know him well....

the giants are going to be a bit of trouble for us if they can hang onto their passes unlike washington.

I agree, why was McD calling for all those sacks?

The Giants offensive production of (points):26 20 32 24 30 7 27 against powerhouses like Dallas, Skins, 49ers, Eagles, Falcons, Bills.
On Defense the Giants holding the potent Colin Kap led 49er juggernaut offense to 27 was an especially strong effort. And holding the mighty Skins to 21 and the unstoppable Falcons to 24 was a sight to see.
No way the Patriots average of almost 35 per game on offense and 16 allowed on D can't cope with this!

Some of you need to get a grip. Almost everything about this game points to a Giant dismissal of Eli and company. Why anyone would seriously think otherwise runs counter to just about every 2015 metric except ESPN's 2015 Chicken Little Rating System (aka CLRS :))
