After 8 games, this has GOT to be the most balanced and complete team Belichick has ever coached

And I hope the potential loss of Dion Lewis doesn't change that

Yeah, it's easy to get giddy. Take away the garbage TD yesterday, and they lead the league in points scored and points allowed. They're pretty good.

It's amazing how good the scoring defense is with the offense being so good and teams constantly having to throw the ball to play catch up.

It will only get better. We would have scored more points but had to adjust to injuries. The interesting this is even with injuries and even a dozen drops in one game we still score about 30. The redskins had drops yesterday but they really just 3 points if you don't include the (let's end this without anyone else getting hurt) td. Top 10 defense! I want to see some of our fans keep trying to reason why our defense sucks.

Who is saying that? Fans like in idiot pinkhats or posters here?

This year could end up being very special. Injuries are taking a toll and may end up being a factor later in the season.

Still have to put the 2004 team up there in the best team list, especially their playoff performance. Held an explosive Colt offense to 3 points. Put up 40 on a great Steeler defense. and the Super bowl was never in doubt.

Also, the 2007 team's D was 4th best in points but that dosent take into consideration all the "garbage time". I am sure the 2007 team had a ton of "garbage time" points scored against them as they were torching everyone..

2007 D was 12 points out of 1st place in points. Just 12 points!

Do they get the benefit of the GT factor or is that just for this team?

2007 D is vastly underrated around here. They dragged the team into the SB when the offense laid an egg against SD. Nearly did the same against the Giants. They were old, and it was their last hurrah as a great defense, but they were good. Very good.

I don't want to name anyone and single them out but they are scattered everywhere. If you visit a game day thread they come out in bunches.

Ohhhhh those people. The phucking losers who piss and moan that the team sucks any time the other team makes a play.

I forgot about them because they only live to project their personal failures in the game day threads - a reason I avoid game day threads.
Please feel free to name them as well. I need a few new people to go after.

Sorry folks but I'm still taking the 04 team and I think the 03 team finds a way to win 5 of 10 times.

I'm not sure why, but the points scored in 2007 served to help that defense more than anything. Maybe it was personnel or the that they change schemes after racing out to a lead, but there was never a line of demarcation between before/after 99% like there is with this group.

If I had to guess, I'd say the difference in experience levels is the primary factor.

It's a half painted picture right now. Everyone wants to paint the 15 squad into its role in NFL history or patriots history through 8 games. Let them carve it themselves. Don't mean to sound like a humbug, just my opinion.
