Well he's not shutdown so there are some people who will tell you he sucks.

I think that Coleman is still a work in progress. He allowed 4/6 passes to be completed today.

I feel better about it after watching Luck torch the Broncos D.

And Butler played great.

5th best in scoring. After NYG the matchups get easier for our D compared to the first 9 games. I'll be suprised if it doesn't finish a top 5 defense at least scoring wise.

At the halfway mark, Patriots are:
5th in Points Allowed (17.9 PPG, just 0.5 PPG more than the #1 Broncos)
8th in Yards/G allowed
7th in Yards/Play
3rd in Rushing Yards allowed
10th in Passing Yards allowed
8th in Passer Rating allowed
2nd in Sacks
7th in INT
10th in Passes Defended
14th in Forced Fumbles
See, told you they're not top ten, look right there, 14th in forced fumbles, that's the most important thing.

As someone who mocked Chung to the Pats in 2009 and stuck up for him when nobody else thought he could play, it's really nice to see him playing at this level. He's such a smart, professional player.

Top ten across the board, which is especially impressive for passing stats considering the garbage time. Patriots point differential: 133, ~16.6 PPG
Top 4 defenses (PPG): ~ 6.1 PPG diff

Looking at yardage stats:
Top 7 defenses (total yards): ~ 4.2 PPG diff

So the Patriots are winning by an average of 10.5 - 12.4 MORE points per game than the defenses statistically better. We've seen this team let up once the game is out of reach (today a prime example), and it happens WAY more often than any other team, let alone the defenses 'better' than the Patriots.

It's a top 10 defense. Case closed.

Another garbage time TD today

I'm pretty sure it's something near 50% of the points they've allowed have been in garbage time/with 99% chance of victory

I don't think top 10 is the question we should be asking anymore. Are their five better defenses out there?

Not sure why you're bragging about this, a lot of people mocked Chung too, quite a bit...oh, sorry, misunderstood.

Im hoping we get Collins back for next week, that guy is such a vital part for creating pass rush to the QB...

Interdasting...

Some of you are too quick to rank the Pats as a top 10 Defense after watching the games but please show a little patience and I will get back to after compiling critical data and list the true top Defenses in the league.

Maybe I was wrong after all, the defense is quietly playing at a top ten level so far this season. Hope they keep it up! Didn't expect all the unknowns on the front 7 to work out nor did i expect chandler to have a breakout season this year. Hopefully losing lewis doesn't mean this defense has to be out on the field longer each game however, still don't entirely trust the secondary.

Right ho! the only problem with the Jets example is that the 99% win probability didn't come until 1 min left in the game so it's actually completely irrelevant to my point and therefore proves absolutely nothing.

Not at all. First, the Jets is not the only example. It's just the easiest. Second, the point of the Jets game is that people are calling that last minute "garbage time" when it clearly wasn't.
