It's time for James White to step up and fill in for Lewis. But what can he bring to the table?

And this absolutely isn't a knock on Dion, but White had a solid preseason performance if I recall....so he might just be able to fill in that 3rd down back role. He's not as dynamic or explosive...nor is he much of a running threat as Lewis....but there's a chance he can factor in Brady's passing game a la Shane Vereen.

Is he up for the job?

Is Lewis gone for the year?

He's a better receiver IMO, but gun shy as a runner. If he sacks up and gets YAC, we'll just miss some exciting runs, because i don't see him running much. As long as he runs hard, I'm fine.

As exciting as he is, we just pass a bit more.

Just give us what Vereen did and Ill take it

I'm not getting my hopes that high about White. Vereen was never terrific but he was pretty good. Haven't seen anything from White to indicate that he can match it.

How is White's pass protection? That's just as important to his role as his ability to catch passes. If the Patriots don't trust him to protect #12 he's not going to see a lot of playing time.

100% agree. White's YAC suck...and he can't break a tackle to save his life

But he's a decent pass-catching back who can chip-block, and I think we can make do with him for now.

Hes decent. I'm ok with Whites pass blocking.

i think they go with Bolden over White.

White isn't as good as Lewis. But he will be better than many think.

Why do they wait for the next day to get the MRI? Is there a reason for that?

Travaris Cadet might be the better option. Watched his highlights from last year, seems to be a good rush pickup guy and has tremendous hands.

Would have never thought Lewis was going to become this amazing... before the season started, I was rooting for White and dismissing Lewis' potential. Clearly Lewis is very dynamic. To lose him will/ would be a real shame.

I would venture a guess it has to do with swelling, but I'm no Schefter..... errrr, I mean doctor.

Bolden or bust! White will not get it done. Bolden while not perfect has had some flashes of being a legit weapon. He has a more complete game at this point. Just my opinion, of course. However, he is a valuable special teamer. Initially I think they will split the role and let the play sort it out.

And yet White is on the team and Cadet is unemployed. So maybe not.
