Collins questionable

Pot Roast isn't playing because of a migraine.

I'm obviously speculating here. With Collins, I don't think its anything disciplinary. Maybe the guy is really sick but pro athletes get shot up with all kinds of meds and play through the flu all the time. Wimps like me stay in bed and get better. Maybe he is really run down and they are managing his fatigue.

My wife gets migraines all the time and they are debilitating no question but as long as they are managed properly, you can recover and gain full function in a few hours. Knighton is a head-case so I do wonder if there is something else there.

It is cold season... Kids are back to school and daycare and are bringing home all of the special treats. MRSA it is not
Not really. That tends to be late Sept, early Oct. I know, my wife drives a schoolbus. Plus, we haven't had any real November weather to start colds either. Not that any of that means it's MRSA of course. I have no idea what it is.

It sounded as though they we're talking about it on the Pats pregame radio. I didn't hear the whole thing though. It sounded more like speculation than reported fact.

Considering that Wendell was around the team the entire time and was activated, I'd say this smells like ********.

RW, you are reading way too much into it. Most other times you hear of a guy having the flu, it was after they spent the week on the injury report. Had Collins come down with it on Wednesday, he would have had more recovery time and he'd be playing. He'd probably also be active if the team felt this game was more critical or up-in-the-air.

I heard it might be Ebola. Or maybe I just made that up. But as long as we're going to wring our hands and clutch our pearls based on baseless rumors we might as well make the most of it.
Do you see anyone clutching their pearls? Look, it was mentioned on the Pats pregame show, so it was worth bringing it up here. Sorry if you find it uncomfortable.

If it was MRSA, he would never have been allowed at the stadium this morning.

It's probably just something as simple as a stomach flu(if that is the english term) and he's got a case of the pukies, and BB wants to make sure that the other players doesn't catch it

I don't find it uncomfortable, I find it to be irrational speculation. Collins doesn't have MRSA, the same way Easley's career wasn't over two months ago. And the fact that someone on the Patriots pregame was also throwing around baseless nonsense doesn't lend any weight either.

Giving the guy another bye week. I hope Bill does the same with other guys later...

I hear ya... Colds become common because everyone is inside now and contact is closer between people. Cold weather itself will not cause a cold

I'm assuming Collins would have played if it was the playoffs, but this was one of the easiest matchups of the season and he needs the rest and the other players need to not get sick.

Untrue, the cold reduces your immune system, making it easier to catch a cold. Even though the cold weather itself cannot give you a cold, you can only catch it from someone else.

Collins had the gout. He bought a big bag of leftover Halloween candy to the stadium.

Eh, maybe. There was a very recent publication that found that environmental temperature has an effect on immune response to rhinoviruses, though the differences were still at relatively high temperatures (37 C versus 33 C) and based on mice rather than humans. Other than that, the preponderance of the evidence is based on a population-level tendency to have closer contact during cold weather.

So.... How is my statement untrue if you basically agreed with everything I said
