Ryan Wendell To IR to Make Room For Stork

The good thing is Washington doesn't have a true disrupter on the DL so I think we can afford to do some more experimenting with who does what best. Probably go back to the OL carousel that we saw at the beginning of the season.

5 healthy OL + Mason. There won't be any experimenting tomorrow.

Good news is Mason must be good to go or they would have had to create another spot for Barker. Bad news is that Collins is questionable due to illness.

stork will play RG since tre's out..and shaq isnt 100%.

sucks for wendell i think his patriot career is over now.

Probably good to suit up as an emergency Guard, I'd guess he sees no snaps at either G of FB.

He is questionable, but rumor is he'll play with a giant mitt on his hand.

Knighton is out.
Yes. Thank you!

Ever since the flu game in Indy the word 'illness' sends chills down my spine.

Pats will receive a $950,000 credit on their 2016 cap because Wendell will not earn his $800,000 playing-time incentive and he will not earn 12 of his $12,500 46-man active roster bonuses ($150,000) total.

It may be worthwhile to try and find out who is better at G on the pro level, Andrews or Stork.

Also the other issue is, Stork probably can't and will not go wire to wire. He's not in game shape yet, so that may be another reason to keep Andrews at C.

Why don't they cut him instead of ir him? If they cut, they can re-sign him later in the year. IR means he's gone for the year. Don't think yhere's a signing bonus drad money to worry about.

How do we know:

a) He's not actually hurt?
b) He wouldn't get claimed on waivers or sign elsewhere if he cleared waivers?

I'm sorry but our depth in the OL just took another severe blow, if this is true. And to make matters worse, our experience along the offensive line is almost none existent. Think about this. After Volmer, 3rd year player, Josh Kline is the next most experience lineman on the team. That is CRAZY. If I were Bill I'd be calling up Dan Connolly to see what kind of shape he's in. It is that bad.

BTW- I was watching some of the clips and if you look at the OL on some of the Dolphin game highlights, our best pass blocker is Brady. Our OL was getting blown up, and Brady would have been killed if he had to hold on to the ball one more second.

Apparently Connolly's dropped a lot of weight, so I doubt he's in any condition to play.

Might be actually hurt. He wouldn't lose money as he was on the 53 at beginning of year so he's paid either way.

He's not subject to waivers.

He could sign elsewhere but he it wouldn't make sense to. He's paid now for resting.

I sorta figured that. The Connolly comment was more an indication of my desperation. Outside of Volmer (who has a history of chronic back problems) the Pats don't have a single offensive lineman who has 10 starts in the NFL, and only 2 have had more than 2 years in the league (Kline, Cannon). I don't care how good the replacements are the inexperience is bound to show a some point.

Also at this point right now, Cannon, Mason, and Jackson are all hurt, and Stork is coming off a serious concussion issue and has very limited practices since last season. I can't help but see this as a very ugly situation. One that we can probably get thru this week, but it will take a lot of great coaching and injury luck to get through this through the superbowl.

Any news on Cannon? Did he broke his thumb?

Yeah, it's definitely a crazy concentration of injuries within one position group. Brutal all around, and a lesser team's season could've easily been derailed by this (see: 2014 Chargers). The one big silver lining here is that most of these guys are coming back. If they can tread water for a couple more weeks, the OL depth chart come out of that stretch looking a lot better than it does right now. Although I'm just as worried as you are about Vollmer holding up. Given the alternatives if he goes down, his health is probably the most important of anyone's except Brady and Gronk.

Everyone is subject to waivers at this point in the year.
