Just a quick thought about something we know and don''t say out loud enough

From the start of the season there have been literally hundreds of stories about Tom Brady's "revenge tour". You know that's true, because we've read most of them. The way the season is going there will be hundreds more and this story line will last right through the superbowl and well beyond. But there is a problem with this narrative that has been bothering me for some time. It is only HALF the story.

Sure they all explain that Brady is on fire because of what happened this off season, and add how the the league's actions are fueling the Patriots' dominant season. However I have yet to read a national article that takes the OBVIOUS next step. The real narrative shouldn't be, "Tom Brady is playing like a man of fire". Instead is should be, "Tom Brady is playing like a man who has been falsely accused" !

By never actually saying that, or leaving it "implied", the mediots are aiding Goodell's narrative, and it is starting to piss me OFF! It is just like the 2007 team they constantly compare this teamto. They never say that the thing that fired up THAT team was they they felt they were FALSELY labeled cheaters for doing something that was perfectly legal.

They never say it out loud because every time they did it, it would be an indictment of Goodell and the league, and they these mutts don't bite the hand that feeds them. There should be some sort of campaign to make them aware of this gaff and get them to say it out loud. We can start locally.

Why are the Pats on fire? Because they are just sick and tired of being FALSELY accused. It is as simple as that.

I figured this was about Phil Simms incoherent half thoughts.

"You know, over ther you have Harmon.... he's defending the post route coming when....."

I like your thinking here, but it could go the other way easily too. Psychological explanations are notoriously easy to spin in two (or ten)directions....

I think it's the Pats taking the high road, so to speak. One way to respond to such criticisms is to simply ignore the noise and carry on. People will caterwaul and flip the hell out, but they're going to anyway, so what's the point of responding? It's not a battle you can win.

I'm not saying necessarily that it's connect, but Kraft has a strong connection to Israel and the Israeli government. The Israeli government responds to media indictments the same way; "**** 'em, we're gonna do us."

Good post, Ken. The Patriots do look like they have purpose beyond just trying to play well each game.

I wonder if it would look any different had DeflateGate never happened. This particular edition of the Patriots is so efficient in all three phases, it just seems like Belichick has succeeded in putting together a young team composed of guys who share the smarts, discipline and appreciation for where they are at this point in their careers.

That goes for coaches as well as players. Josh McDaniels has turned down inquiries, Matt Patricia is a young DC with a huge future ahead of him, and Dave DeGuglielmo basically died and went to heaven when Bill Belichick plucked him off the Maryland coaching staff - and that was to follow a legendary offensive line coach. Mike Lombardi has to be thrilled to be re-united with Belichick after sitting in the front seat for that train wreck in Cleveland. All of those guys have to be top 5 for other teams' openings.

Think about it for a moment. These players and young coaches all seem to realize that their jobs are at a moment in time with the best ever to coach the game, and the best ever to play quarterback. This is a fleeting moment, and they seem to get it. Most have a Super Bowl ring which is a ticket to countless jobs paying more money.

Maybe the best way to demonstrate it is to look at who is not on this team. There are no Chad Ochocincos or Percy Harvins or even any Darrelle Revis types who think about money first and team second. The closest I can get is LeGarrette Blount who is a prodigal son who seems to really love being back with the Patriots. Blount hasn't uttered a word about the number of carries he gets, even after strictly passing games. In Pittsburgh he was a malcontent because he wasn't getting carries. Blount knows how special this is. Jonas Gray got a big head after one good game and is not here.

I don't know. This team is a championship team with humility and an attitude. They may not win it all - any given Sunday and a bad break here or there can derail that - but this is a special group.

Yes, Its two thing I think. Brady is pissed.

And

BB sorta has his team chemistry back where it was in 2003-2004 which had all the names we know and the names BB loves to gush about. 07 had some of that too.

There was a stretch between then and probably up to last year (tight around that Chiefs game) where BB realized he had his chemistry magical again, and he is running with it.

He got rid of the Thomases, and Ocho, and AH, and Lloyds and started to focus on character guys. The Rutgers crew, Amendola, brought Cung back. Then got rid of the Dennards and Greys.

He has it just right now.

The team cannot get stuck in this stuff. However, we can help. And we do that by bringing up the bunk and pointing out the absurdities. Ultimately, they want us to shut up and just work from the foot of an open door; one that begins with their insanity. NO! (I love the word "no." :D)

Yeah, the team should be focused on their next game. However, we can go in these directions in the same way that we speculate on undefated seasons and nice-to-have players et al. And in my opinion, they appreciate it/us, as well. Essentially, we can do the work (off the field) that they cannot, in the same way that they can do the work (on the field) that we cannot. :D

It's a total team effort.

I don't expect the Pats to make this point. You are right, they've chosen to take the "high road" evidently. However their proxies don't have to. I want to hear it from "our mediots" that this isn't the Patriots revenge tour. It is the Pats "redemption tour".

I want to hear that "I have it on good authority, that they are just pissed at being falsely accused, but rather than take the bait and have it distract them, they have focused their righteous indignation into being the best they can be." Or something to that effect

Not everything back/ I'm sure he'd like TBrown and Solder back....or at people to replace them..... or at least healthy ones. ;)

Oh sure, love a 100% healthy team but he is good at next man up.

I am just talking about things he can control. This team seems to have amazing chemistry and work ethic. Which is probably a result from having a younger team that can be more moldable.

Come to think of it...

I admit, it would be satisfying on some level. At same time, it might also be satisfying for the Pats to have that catharsis and it might dull the edge a little.

I think we're just going to have to wait and hope for that tell-all book one day.

You won't have to wait for the book, if we get "the suit", ;)

Stupid Kraft, his team lost 1st and 4th round pick. They have lost CB trade cause they didnt have picks to make a trade.

I can't favorite this enough. It NEEDS to be said -- Brady is playing like a man FALSELY accused! The worse part is the league office totally knows this.

In New England - Pats on fire!
In New York (NFL Headquarters) - Pants on fire!

Jim Irsay knows about half sentences

(had it in my Clipboard from my last post, felt it worked here too :D)
