See. Pats tried but Titans didn't want trade him. Can't do anything about that. But i'm sure some chicken littles on here find that unacceptable.

Stewart's tweet seemed like it was a money issue between Pats and JMC which is understandable.

If it was needless haggling over a 4th or 5th rounder i'll barf.

Well....they do look alike. Maybe Jason can slap on #32, show up during the playoffs and play man coverage?:p

If they did that. Oh. My. God!!!! I wouldn't even mind the five million dollar fine and loss of the next six first round draft picks.

JK, yes I would. But it'd be hilarious to do.

Save what you've got and go hard after Von Miller.

I'm not too bothered by the fact the Patriots didn't execute a trade. Thanks to a corrupt, vile piece of **** sitting in the chair of the commissioner, the team is light on regarding draft pick capital. No point killing your future for immediate gratification.

Let's hope the CBs stay healthy.

Now I'm more pissed knowing we tried hard but didn't get him...

When you have 2-3 mil in cap space and 15-17 in dead money you don't have the luxury of making any real moves.

There is really only 4 positions on the roster where we dont have top flight talent. SS, a brusing RB, and OG. And of course where we probably need most help CB although perhaps MB can become that.

If they couldn't make the trade because JMac wouldn't agree to a different contract that is particularly upsetting. I'm continually amazed by how little these guys consider their endorsement earning potential in a major market perennial contender. JMac's situation is particularly unique because of how marketable the twins would be. I'm near certain that he would have the ability to not only recoup but exceed any football contract losses with what he would gain in off the field money.

Enjoy being in the basement of the league, Jason! Yay!

Issue may not have been on his side necessarily. He could have wanted to convert salary to bonus but it would hit the Titans cap and they didn't want to do it without a higher draft pick. Or, the Pats could have tried to restructure the contracts of existing guys and found no takers. In short, we don't exactly know what stopped it from happening at this point - could be McCourty, could be the Titans, could be an existing Pats player.

Not that I disagree with your overall point; I don't.

Don't be so quick to bash JMac about the money. He may have had very little time to negotiate and had to make the decision quickly. Hesitating to restructure the most lucrative deal you'll ever get isn't a decision to be taken lightly.
