Rumor: Browns having fire sale (merged)

This thread is missing that moron who used to post ludicrously impossible trades oblivious of cap considerations who called everybody "cousin".

Yeah, I know that guy, here is what he drives. Want some free candy cousin?

I had a dustup with him on his last trade thread many months ago. He took serious offense when I challenged him to back up his assertion that several of his proposed trades had happened. I kept on him. Not been here since. Addition by subtraction.

EDIT:
Just got a PM from Ian asking me to help the forum & leave :(

They can trade for a guy like rashean mathis if he can still run. I like darius slay as well but idk if the lions would shop him.

Kerry from Bosco's list?

Practicality. How does he pass the physical? Who will trade for a player who might be washed up and forced into retirement by a failed rehab?

DUH.

A Torn Bicep injury while having a long recovery period is not seen as a career ending one for a LT. If the Browns feel he will be ready for next season and they are going on a "fire sale" this year anyway, they will be getting a solid young LT who is signed to a very manageable contract for two or three seasons (not sure if it's 2017 or 2018).

And Pats screw up Cap for this year and next year.

This was my first question. Are you certain a trade like this will have a detrimental impact on the cap and why?

DID THE FIRE SALE HAPPEN YET? WHO DID WE GET?

I'd love Slay. He still has one year left on his rookie deal, too. It might take a 3rd to get him if he's even available. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions want to extend him.

Just a quick note on this point:

The Patriots have over $18 million in dead money this year.

Not so much this year but next year his remaining bonus money comes accelerated to the cap.

Do you like Collins, Hightower and Jones? Great! Then don't expect us to take on a contract like Joe Thomas' contract.

The problem I see with a Mayo/Solder for Thomas trade is Pats will immediately give themselves 12.7M in dead money before 2016 starts

what does dead money mean? do we have an extra 18 million next year then?
Means that the cap charge assigned to a player that is not on the active roster.

Barring any cuts of players on the current roster, right now next year is about $475k

$14+MM of that is for Revis $5MM, Mankins $4MM, Arrington $3.3MM Fletcher $1.2MM, and Vince $.9MM All of which come off the books in 2016. In fact next season will mark the first year since Hernandez went away that the Pats won't have a serious amount of dead money to deal with.
