it takes ages to get this offense. Johnson wont help immediately. We get a very good corner i will be a happy.

Won't happen.

Average Annual Salaries

Calvin Johnson - $16M

Rob Gronkowski - $9M
Julian Edelman - $4M
Brandon LaFell - 3M
TOTAL - 16M

I'll go with the Patriots way on this one.

Sure let do it and then not sign Hightower, Jones or Collins in the coming years because of the cap hit for Johnson.

Minitron > Megatron.

Minitron never fumbled at the 1 inch line.

People don't see dream trade scenarios in the title. They see "Calvin Johnson" + "trade" + "Patriots" and click. That's all ESPN cares about.

CapSpace=$3,210,965 @patscap
(1/2)Why ESPN's Calvin Johnson trade is unrealistic. 1.He has 6.6m in remaining salary. 2. Pats have 3m in cap space

I got it, EPN! We could cut Jabal Sheard and Donta Hightower and then we could have Megatron, because 36 points per game is not enough!!!!!

seriously tho, why the hell would we add another WR when we need OL and CB? ESPN is so stupid. How do those idiots get paid to write this nonsense.

Because people re-post their crap everywhere?
My question is why does Mort still get paid?

Megatron would be a great CB

He's also got the height to play tackle

Makes sense to me. Trade for the beast!

This guy is a bozo of the type you shouldn't bother with...BS PN. I followed one article to another, both by him and his arguments and comparisons to Moss were ludicrous.

A 4th at best.

In Patriots facebook groups, some fans are salivating over this and they won't listen to reasoning why it will never happen. His yearly salary is 16 mil, for one, we would never pay a player more than Brady for year. We only have 3.2 million in cap space. We have enough offensive weapons. What we need is a Corner. I rather trade for Sean Smith and still be able to extend Hightower, Collins, and Jones than trade for a 30 years old WR that is overpriced!

ESPN. The constant variety of suck.

Offense's fine. If dobson had been a player it would have had much depth.

Dobson has a 700K salary and a 900K cap hit. He is a 5th to 6th receiving target and has shown this year that he can be more than a complete stiff. Whatever he gives us is gravy at this point.

I am more worried about Lafell getting back to where he was. We have great depth with Two great receiving TEs, Lewis who has been great. DA, JE, BL and Martin who has shown he can play.

You are worried about depth because of Dobson?

Calvin Johnson has lost alot of speed at this stage of his career. He doesn't scare defenses anymore. Since we don't have a 1st rounder next year, I wouldn't give up even a 3rd or 4th. I'd listen to phone calls for a 5th rounder+ change lool. Megatron is just not the same.

I'm still a little bummed out we didn't get Emmanuel Sanders, but we did OK last year :)

We have JE for that role. Lafell and Amendola cost the same as Sanders

We'll give them our 1st and 4th round picks next year for him as long as Detroit eats 90% of his contract.

I know totally unrealistic, but of all the guys he mentioned, Joe Thomas would be such a great fit here and fill an area of need, we move Vollmer back to the right side and have Cannon as the swing tackle again and most importantly, we don't have to play Flemming any more :)

He'd be an amazing addition for sure, but I think he would carry a substantial salary cap

Diminishing returns.
