Mehta: Revis in Decline

Considering that guy wouldn't know a football from a fruit salad, i'll wait for a second opinion.

I do look forward to the inevitable, panicked "we signed away our future for this over the hill cornerback" columns, though:D

He fails to mention Edelman torched him only to drop the TD pass.

ummmm, he did mention it???

...Washington’s Pierre Garcon made Revis look silly on a 2-yard touchdown reception two weeks ago. Patriots’ wideout Julian Edelman beat Revis clean with his quickness before dropping an easy 6-yard touchdown last week. Both sights used to be inconceivable.

I'm glad he's with the jets. He's still good but he gets beat more often now, even last year he lost battles. If we signed him we would likely lose the ability to extend Collins, ht, or/and jones, our homegrown talent. I like rewarding loyalty to guys that play through the rookie contracts. Take care of our own. With that said I can see the jets cutting him in a couple of years when he doesn't play to the level of his contract, and coming to play with us again.

Its all BS. This Pats team can't be good, much less better than last years team without a Revis. Our D certainly wont be better and the team would absolutely be better with Revis. They would have been 8-0 in only 7 games played.

Just ask the guys on the forum here. They will tell you.

Surprised but watch revis go out there on sunday and shut out cooper.

Except for Tom Brady.

Another game? Sorry, I've got to get ready for the 'skins.

He was "slowing down" LAST year. Why do you think most of the times he was on the "route runners" such as Wayne etc? It's in no way meant to say he stinks because he doesn't. What it means is he's not worth the money. Nowhere close. He's being paid like he's 25. It will only get worse from here and thus I am glad, once I saw what he signed for, he decided to go to NY.

Hasn't the Jets D improved like a lot since Revis signed. What am i missing? He never gave up TDs before? I recall that Stevie Johnson bum giving him a hard time twice a year

I read this with my morning coffee and had two thoughts.
1. I'd still like to have him roaming the Secondary at the Blade. He ain't done yet!
2. I guess BB would remind us that he'd rather get rid of a player a year too early than a year too late.

This really isnt the same situation as a Semour, Mankins, Welker so that isnt applicable in a sense.

Who woulntt want Revis back there. But, who would you get rid of to keep him?

For a mercenary, he gave us a break for one year, he got a ring and so did we. His contract is ridiculous, so I'm happy he played, we won and he was a professional.

Give a fark about him? No, that wasn't in the contract.

I think revis' best asset at this point is his reputation more than anything. Teams refuse to throw at him which allows him to essentially take away half a field.

Would i have him for 12-15million a year? Yeah...but i can see why the pats wouldn't match that salary.

And so far out defense as a whole this year may be better than last year.

Correct. Which three players will we get rid of to pay Revis? How about Gronk, Edelman and one other 4 million dollar player?

Maybe Gronk and McCourty or Gronk and Brady. That would free up enough cash to land him... maybe.

Yep, it would be great to have him. It would also be great if one of the "keep Revis" guys actually gave some ideas of where to get the money for him, instead of the Regular old "We would be better with Revis" routine.
