Former Pats QB Ryan Mallett misses team flight to game

You're right just checked. My memory was incorrect. Looks like we had no coordinator in 2010. Still, when Brady was working under him, he put up some of his biggest playoff stinkers

In 2011, the Patriots went 13-3 in the regular season, and went to the SB.

In 2011, the Patriots went to the SB.

Yes, and other than blowing away a helpless Tim tebow Broncos team, Brady threw for a measly 57 passer rating against the Ravens in the AFC championship with 2 interceptions, and only scored 17 points against a 9-7 giants team in the Super Bowl. While his stat line was incredible vs the Broncos, the next game he put up an abysmal stat line, and he scored 0 points in the 4th quarter vs Giants.

What I am saying is, Brady had some of his worst playoff games of his career while under obriens tutelage as a QB coach and O coordinator.

Mcdaniels is a much better fit for Tom

Brady completed something like 18 passes in a row during the SB, before he took a hit that clearly injured his shoulder. The Patriots were also stuck with a Godawful secondary that year, and that allowed the Giants to have a huge 37:05 to 22:55 TOP advantage. And O'Brien isn't the reason Brady got rung up for a safety at the start of the game, either.

You're way off base here. There are 3 defenses that have given Brady difficulties under both O'Brien and McDaniels.

Jets
Giants
Ravens

Ok let's forget the Giants Super Bowl game. Isn't it true Brady's playoff performances were hot and cold during those 09-2012 years? Some great games mixed in with some very poor ones.

Nothing like the consistent dominant playoff performances we saw last year 3 games in a row, where he was terrific in all of them.

What I am trying to say is I'm glad Mcdaniels works with Brady now instead of BOB

I watched the entire series of Hard Knocks. BOB grew up in Dorchester, is a great father, and loves the game of football. But, I don't think too highly of him as a professional football coach.

I still remember that 2011 game vs Washington, when him and Brady went at it on the sidelines. I have never seen Brady snap like that at any other coach

Bill Obrien and Dean Peas were my two least favorite coaches we had on our staff over the years.

I think Patricia has turned himself into a phenomenal coordinator, Mcdaniels is the best in the league on offense.

Weiss, Crennell, were terrific

As for Mallet, he needs to mature and change his ways before he even thinks of joining another team and taking over the responsibilities of an NFL QB

Glad you mentioned Patricia. I think he is, in fact, turning himself into a really good coordinator.

Yes, his hard work has paid off. He's doing a great job

I'm a big supporter of McDaniels, and I consider him to be the best O.C. that Brady's worked with in New England. Your O'Brien arguments are just off base, imo, that's all.

#74 is far from a Blue Chip Pick, I'm sure we all can agree...And Bill II The Mad (Genius) is, in my Opinion, not only the best Head Coach in this Great Game, but the best General Manager, as well...But that doesn't mean that he is incapable of making stupid Mistakes, and that horrific Pick ~ as I said here not when he made it but before he made it, when Lombardi preemptively reported it ~ was one'f'm.
I understood the Mallett pick. Bill had been drafting QBs every couple or so years, and if Mallett hadn't
been a chucklehead during the pre-draft process, he would've been in the conversation with Dalton and Kaepernick at the top of the 2nd round, so picking him at 74 represented good value.
The pick there I didn't understand (besides the obvious, pre-foretold disaster of Glas-IR) was Ridley, a
5th-round talent, at 73. Didn't think there was a need for him at that time after Vereen was chosen just
17 spots earlier.

And for comparison. Under McDaniels for the 2007 playoffs

Brady:

(1) Had an incredible game with a 92.9% completion rate against the Jags
(2) Threw 3 interceptions and had a 66.4 QB rating against the Chargers
(3) Scored only 14 points on a 10-6 giants team. In which he had a healthy Moss instead of a gimpy Gronk.

So how exactly does McDaniels end up looking better than O'Brien?

McDaniels joined the team in time for the Super Bowl.

Not disagreeing with your general point, but I think that was a questionable play call. Having a five step drop into the end zone against the league's best pass rush was not smart. It was Vollmer's first game back.

It was a BS call by the officials for sure (intentional grounding for throwing the ball down the middle of the field?), but Tom also missed an open Wes. There is plenty of blame to go around for that whole episode.

OTOH, in that SB, Brady was gimpy.

You can clearly see Vollmer whiffing on Tuck as well. Not sure what the guys on the right side there are doing, but I guess that's a good vantage point to watch the game.

If I remember correctly, Mallet was rumored to be a meth head in college. If true, wonder if he's fing up again

Brady was clearly still inside the tackle box, and heaved the ball straight down Main Street like a dumb ass. I think the call was right in this instance. No one was anywhere near the ball.

It looks like the right decision would've been to throw it at someone's feet, or to the sideline. I'd imagine that the pressure beating Vollmer (76) in your pic is what led to this mistake.
