Asking for your support

Do you feel Bill O'Brien would be a great Head Coach to succeed Belichick?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Maybe, it depends on how well he does with the Texans

  • Are you crazy?! Belichick is never gonna go away!

To be honest, even though I didn't think he had HC material, I still had no idea how bad he was until the Texans exposed that.

He has been pretty much doing everything wrong right from the start, from using fear as a motivation tool (never works) to hiring a DC that doesn't know anything else than running a 2 gap 3-4, to allowing Mallet to stay on the roster for even as much a minute after missing a game-day flight (after missing a practice).

I understand that the reason he hasn't cut Mallett may be because the QB3, Savage, is on IR, but absolutely not an excuse by any stretch. Plenty of capable QB2 out there just salivating for the chance to hold a clipboard again. Cancer in any form must be dealt with, promptly.

It appears that I am in error and need to retract some of what I wrote above if the article linked below is of any truth. It appears that BOB was actually against the acquisition of Mallett, against retaining him on the roster, and was also against "Hard Knocks" coming to town (overruled by McNair):

Texans GM Rick Smith vetoes Bill O'Brien's decision to cut QB Ryan Mallett

So while I still do not agree with some of his coaching tactics, I now feel it's unfair to judge him when he's in a losing power struggle with two other highly incompetent individuals

How do you cut your only back-up QB just before a game? I understand O'Brian's impulse to do so, but his GM was using his head when he vetoed that idea. Now that the Miami game is done they can make a rational decision. I doubt Mallett survives the bye week coming after next Sunday.

I am a big fan of wait and see, i never bought the Texans as being good this year but I certainly didn't think they would be this bad. I'll want to see what happens this year and next before i make a judgement about Bo'B.

Wouldn't be against it if the time was right now, but everyone should be prepared for the fact that whatever is next, at coach and quarterback, will be a step down.

It will never be this good again.

Thank you, Mr. MF Ray of Sunshine:cool:

When BB is gone he will. That said, the Krafts have the ultimate authority.
No doubt Robert Kraft has a plan in place to replace Belichick. I'm sure the replacement is on the staff and being groomed right now. While the consensus is that Josh is the heir apparent, I think the Rocket Scientist is also in the Plan.

Not all that enamored with BOB being our HC, he supposedly walked into a very good defense, that is giving up a lot of points.. did he balk at Mallett's prior shenanigans??

BOB seems to be one of those coaches who flourish here, but flounder outside of the Patriots structure.. he might be better suited for College than the NFL..

BOB named Hoyer starter at the beginning of season. Yanked him mid way through the first game!
Mallett injured in a game. Ready to get back into the game after a few snaps. Not allowed to get back! All the right decision making ingredients for a disaster. BOB still has a lot of growing up to do before he can be considered Belichick replacement material.

BoB did absolutely everything wrong. He shouldn't be considered for any other HC job for the next 5 years at least.

It was big news at the time of JM not paying proper respect to BB after a win. I think I am correct
Sorry if this has been addressed since page 2, but that whole thing was a fabrication. Apparently McD and BB met before the game and said they wouldn't do anything big handshake wise or some ****. Everyone liked the storyline, but they planned on not making a big deal out of it regardless of the outcome

The day of the loss to McD's Bronco's was like the complete opposite of October 13, 2013 when the Pats won on that last-minute TD to Thompkins and Big Papi hit the granny in the eighth to turn the ALCS around. First, BB gets beat by his old protege in OT, then Papelbon blows a two-run lead in the ninth and the Sox lose the ALDS to the Angels.

Based on what I have seen of his personality IMO BoB is best suited to be a college HC not an NFL HC. Not a bad thing look at Nick Saban. Different Horses for Different tracks.

It is sad for me too see Romeo overseeing that disaster of a D down in Houston. I would love to get Vrabel off that staff when they are dismissed.

BOB is too much of a bully/meathead to be a good head coach. he's only got one layer and thats not a good way to handle grown men. Look at how he got into a shouting match with brady treated here, you'd never see brady go off like that on Josh or Bill, Or Patricia.

BOB should have stuck to college.
