NFL files its opening brief in Deflategate appeal.

Brady being on such a torrid pace with "legal" footballs makes the NFL look so petty and ridiculous with this thing. I can't imagine what would happen if he actually ends up getting suspended.

But they will eventually get embarrassed when the bring it to the SCOTUS and lose.

LOL SCOTUS would not even entertain a garbage case like this.

The next step for the losing party would be to appeal it to the entire Second Circuit in an en banc appeal.

This is such a cluster**** of epic proportions. This makes the NHL look well-run.

I've said this before. There was a time, even after Cameraplacementgate, that I would have said the NFL was at least better run than the NHL. It takes a lot of world class ****ups to sink to the level of the NHL and the Poison Dwarf (Gary Bettman), but Goodell has actually managed to get the NFL there.

Nicely done Rodgey...

I can only assume the appeal judges seeing this can only think "are you F'in serious with this crap?!"

It's not like they have y'know REAL issues to deal with not Roger's bruised ego. Can they not throw him in jail for wasting the courts time or something?

so they are bringing there big guns out in a loosing case with no chance of the appeal working.

yeah

*integrity.....

NFL continues to not believe in the Ideal Gas Law or scientific procedures ---
All the Patriots balls were below the required PSI.
All of the Colts balls were at required PSI -- which had more time to adjust to room temperature and using the guage we said wasn't the right one.

I honestly can't believe the NFL lawyers are this dumb, so they must be doing it for the money without believing its the truth.
And Goodell I actually believe is this dumb

NFL: "Although he professed ignorance . . ., Brady's preference for deflated footballs had been a matter of public knowledge for years"

" Although he professed ignorance, Goodell's preference for lying had been a matter of public knowledge for years.

Yup, NFL trying this in the court of public opinion again. What kind of hearsay BS is that. I would absolutely respond in the NFLPA brief with that exact statement, and add "as validated by at least two Federal Judges, both of which found Mr. Goodell's Testimony as not credible"

The NFL is so mad,

Goodell: Berman "vastly exceeded" his authority, thanks to him the pats are 6-0
So not only can Goodell (in his mind) make up anything he wants with regards to the NFL and it's rules, he feels he needs to tell a Federal Judge of many years what his job entails or doesn't?

I'm sure that's bound to be making friends in CA2.

They may not address this in court, but this was the basis of the memorable exchange with Berman about inferences. I would like a repeat.

What evidence do you have he liked deflated balls?

You can infer from this text saying he wants them at 12.5.

You can't infer that.

I believe the NFL opens the actual findings of the Wells-Pasch report to discussion by writing this in their brief, which means the CA2 could actually rule on Goodell's impartiality by questioning the gages used.

I know this has been brought up before, but this is how bent the needle of the non-logo gauge was:

The NFL wants everyone to believe that, after testing the PSI in 48 footballs (12 for each team for the game, but 24 back-up balls) with one of these two gauges, Anderson could have confused the two.

Goodell is on record mischaracterizing Brady's testimony during his appeal. Goodell claimed Brady denied contacting Jaws+McNally, when Brady specifically said he talked to them after the league accused them of wrongdoing.

I think the tide has turned towards Brady within the media and I think they will go after Goddell bigtime for continuing this ********.

Not true........outside of New England you have the haters that very much want to believe this is all true and factual, they sctually do.

Then, you have all the paid off members of the " not very fair and way unbalanced" media....Volin tops the list.

Finally, even within our own home base you have the ratings mongerers....felger and mazz....he must have done something Mike hahahaha and their pack of merry haters.

Haters going to hate.......

Disagree. The Deflategate specifics of this case are stupid, but the case itself touches on pretty important aspects of labor and arbitration law. Forget about all the football stuff and the bogus Wells report, etc., and at its core it's about how one-sided an arbitration agreement can be, it's about what unwritten legal concepts are incorporated by reference into a CBA, etc., etc.

Think of what this means for anyone subject to a CBA or an arbitration agreement if the NFL's "there is no right to any basic fairness whatsoever" position is upheld.

If this is appealed to SCOTUS I expect tons of amicus briefs in favor of the NFL from a whole bunch of companies and trade associations and a whole bunch in favor of the NFLPA from unions and left-leaning (and beyond) organizations.

Florio's words on the matter are getting stronger.

"At page 10, the NFL’s brief declares that Jim McNally “snuck the balls into a bathroom, where he proceeded to deflate their pressure.” Apart from whether there was any actual “sneaking” (given the presence of, you know, a surveillance camera and McNally’s toting of a large bag of balls into the bathroom without trying to stuff it into his pants or jacket), the evidence remains inconclusive at best that McNally removed air from the balls. If he had, the combined effect of removing air plus the operation of the Ideal Gas Law would have resulted in PSI readings dramatically lower than the readings generated at halftime by a pair of wildly inconsistent air-pressure gauges.

That very point has been lost on the NFL from the moment this controversy first emerged, and it’s still lost on the NFL today. Which could be one of the main reasons why the NFL lost in court — and one of the main reasons why it could lose on appeal". NFL files appeal brief, says Brady “participated in a scheme to deflate game balls”

Ironic that the day after the Pats put his Jetsies 2 full games behind the Pats, and effectively 3, Goody gets his minions to file the appeal on behalf of his poor franchise.

Such a sad sack POS.
