Not a Ryan hater but I don't think he's spent much time covering a receiver whose name I could even remember.
Ryan does everything well except man to man coverage.

That's why they need to acquire a corner that can. I am curious to know how much
man coverage they have played this year.

I don't think we know for sure yet if Butler is a money or a rings guy. You seriously never know what will happen when you reach these levels of success.

Considering he is the son of a single mom working several jobs at once with four brothers and sisters living in a house the size of a room at the Marriott Courtyard, if he doesn't go for the money he is nuts. The question is does he need every last penny.

I just hope that happens here.

I just don't see how they get through the year without a reliable CB opposite Malcolm that can play man to man on a consistent level. I guess you can argue that they did it last year. :D

it won't. you can't name 10 defenses better than this one? do you watch any football other than patriot games? have you ever gotten off of your couch and picked up a football and actually played? easy to point to points scored, but the 2011 defense was 15th in scoring... do you really think that defense was the 15th best defense in the league? that's a silly thing to say. we lost in the playoffs that year because of our defense. this defense is better than that one, but top 10? really? at this point, i'm going with around 15th.

Yes, it will.. You're just to inept to understand that.. Yes, I watch plenty of football. Probably more than you. Yes, I have played, not that it's any business of yours and it has no bearing on the conversation. Please do everyone a favor and take your worthless opinions somewhere else because you've done nothing to support your claims.

You're correct, and I'm not saying he's going to be Brady. What I mean is that Samuel played cautious in a lot of ways, and Butler plays with his hair on fire. He is a hard hitter for someone his size because he puts all he has into it. He punches at the ball like it stole from him. Samuel chased picks because he was always chasing $$.

I'm just very on board with the kid, I've loved his style of play from the jump. I wasn't convinced that he would be playing as well as he is right now, and I think he still has room to improve. Hey maybe he's a rings guy and a money guy...I certainly think he should go for both.

I've been on board with him from early last year. Gotta love a small college UDFA who comes from that kind of background, takes some lumps and learns from his mistakes. He should be nicknamed"Popeye" for his previous job. I expected he would be playing as well as he is, he has both the physical talents and the dedication to making the best of them.

I'm hoping he will be as level headed about money as he has been no about everything else. If the Pats give him a fair offer I hope he will be satisfied to take it and make the best of it. He could be this generation's Tedy.

Let's hope he hires Gronk as his booking agent andfinancial advisor and starts living off his ancillary income while banking his entire Patriots paycheck!

I think he's got heart and loyalty like Lewis. They're both going to make plenty of money, but where will they be happy? Who found them when no one cared and gave them a shot?

The funny thing is, players who have that loyalty will always be better players. I might accept revis from this, there is something to being a mercenary and professional, but really, I think he wanted to live in New York too and he had a chance to have both.

What price would they pay to get out of stinking it up in Detroit or Cleveland with a losing situation? Or the Bills or Lolphins for that matter. How much more money will you take to be miserable and hate your situation?

Eric Decker was asked about Malcolm Butler, "“There was a lot of man coverage and for me [I had to] be physical. [Malcolm] Butler is a speed guy. He’s smart and I had to be able to maneuver my way through and try to use my size against him. I had some success early-on, with a little bit in the second half, but mostly the first.

The kid is a rookie for all intent-and-purpose. He doesn't even know what he doesn't know yet. Personally I think the expectations on him as a starting CB were way too high this year as it would appear that many came into this year with the expectation that he would play like a first round pick or the next Revis/Talib/Law. The kid has the talent and ability to play as a starting CB in this league. As a rookie starter he is going to have good days, bad days and eh days. He is going to be asked to do things that are a stretch for him at this point in his career sometimes he will succeed sometimes he will fail but IMHO he will continue to grow in talent and skill, I just think we all need to step back and be patient and watch the growth of the next top tier CB in the league.

I think people are being a bit harsh. He gave up 6 rec. for 90 yards. Which was amplified because they were mostly on 3rd down. It's not like he gave up 15 for 200 yards 3 TD or something. I seem to remember Decker having about 5 or 6 rec for about 70 yards against Revis last year at Foxboro.

I like him and you can be assured the coaching staff likes him too because they leave him in no matter what happens. He will only get better.

This confirms what Mark Daniels said on twitter
