I assume someone is claiming that the drops were all dobsons fault

ESPN stats says there were 6 drops, as some of the balls were uncatchable.. 3 by LaFell..

I think that the Pats played fine today, not as good as I would like them to, but divisional rivals are always tough..

In 2014 the Pats beat the Jets by a total of 3 points..(27-25, 17-16)
In 2013 the Pats beat the Jets by a total of 6 points ..(13-10, 30-27OT)
In 2012 the Pats beat the Jets by a total of 43 points ..(29-26OT, 49-19)

The point being is that all these games are close, and sometimes we all have short memories..

There are no style points in the NFL, a win is a win is a win.

To further your point even more, we actually lost the 30-27 OT game in 2013. That was the game that saw the wacky call from the ref, which allowed them to re-kick and win the game.

One name we haven't mentioned is Pat Chung, who is playing some very good football right now. That signing was met with a lot of groans, but IMO it has turned out to be a smart one.

Yes, it seems as though they are taking advantage of his strengths more than in the past, while also hiding his weaknesses in a more effective manner. Let's just refrain from using him on fake punts and kickoff returns ;)

This game was closer than I would of liked but not as close as it appeared if that makes any sense.

Well, the Jets were winning in the 4th quarter, so I'd have to consider it a fairly close game like most of our recent matchups with them.

That said, it may not have been as close without the mistakes/drops, if that's what you mean.

I told my dad we dropped 11 passes and he replied: "Bradford didn't even throw 11 non-screens!"

2. Drop 11 passes, lose 3 offensive starters, play against the best defense in the league, and STILL put 30 points on the board should be the Headline that leads Monday media. Can you imagine how many points would have been put up with an additional 11 catches....or 9 for that matter.

This was an outstanding performance by the pats. The pats could easily have put up 50+ on the best defense in the league today. I watched the game at the American Legion today with 30+ friends and it was electric. This team has a great feel about it right now. I am excited for when LaFell returns to form and regains Brady's confidence. His routes, as with Edel and Amen's, were beautiful today.

3. I certainly didn't see anything from James White that would want him in that role unless he's the back up. If he had been available I would rather have Boldin as the 3rd down back, or even use Blount. In fact if I were running the team I'd be looking and seeing about the health and availability of Cadet to back up Lewis.

It is a tough call. He was going against a great defense. And the pats game plan.

5. The back shoulder pass shows what Chandler can do potentially. I hope he doesn't get impatient, because eventually the game will come where he's going to put up some big numbers. Also it was cool that Williams had a catch and made a nice move for a 300 lb guy in trying to get some extra yardage. I wouldn't hate it if he got one or 2 targets a game.

When and if Chandler understands all the reads, this offense will get even better. In previous games, it looked like (was it pittsburgh?) defensive backs covered Chandler thinking he was Gronk - Gronk went wild on those plays. Williams is a powerhouse. (Speaking of Pitts, one of the best moments I had today was when about 20 pitts fans left early because they were losing. Boohoo!!)

6. The worst thing about Edlemans drop, was that he cleanly beat Revis on the route. Now THAT would have been sweet.

Edelman beat Revis cleanly a few times. Revis seems a bit slower than even last season.

7. This is the think I liked most about this win. This was a physical game, against a physical team, and the Pats simply out hit the Jets for most of this game.

This was a trenches type game. In the past the pats might have been bullied, but the guys on both sides for the pats won, imo.

15. The one area of the game where we will likely have a large superiority over is on special teams. On the coverage, punting and FG teams our ST's guys simply do a great job, which go relatively unnoticed by both us and the mediots. I know I should point it out more because it really makes a difference in field position.

They were phenomenal once again.

Great posts, Ken. Sorry about my post the other day. I misunderstood you.

A couple more points, please comment.

First, PatFanKen, like all of us we take Brady for granted. How many other quarterbacks could play a good defense like the Jets and basically abandon the run all day and succeed. Most other quarterbacks need to mix it up or the defense will key on them and beat them. Brady just does it all.

I was also impressed in the first half with Brady saving illegal formation calls. More than once, I heard him say "Danny get back", "Gronk get up". Brady sees it all.

Second, regarding OBrien, I wonder if we'll see a reverse 2012. Josh McDaniels leaves for a head coaching job, OBrien is fired and comes back. I hope not, but the Texans seem to be falling apart and a shake up might happen at the end of the year..
QBs that would survive a no run effort vs a number 1 rated defense: Marino, Elway, Montana..? Manning if it wasn't the playoffs and he was in a dome. Brady is so fricken good.

Brady reads everything. I watched Montana play when I was in California, as did Brady... The two best readers ever. His calls on the line are even sharper than Montana's, which is why I feel Brady is the GOAT.

I was happy to see BoB leave the pats as coordinator. I think his ego would prevent him from coming back. He could go turd in Indy, if I had my way. Josh at the end of last season gave an interview in which he seemed to think he was too young and inexperienced to head coach again. Maybe he is playing the money... I think he may honestly think that learning under Bill is giving him a chance at being a great. Who knows? Dollars do talk a lot.

Can't explain the 3rd down defense today.

3rd and long was a big deal on both sides of the field. Ditto red zone. Situational football indeed.

As for special teams -- the Jets just hired that punter Saturday, if I read the article correctly. They literally called his cell phone while he was hosting a radio show; he completed the radio show and then went to join the team.

And give that he's their former punter who retired pretty young by kicker standards, I'm guessing he never was all that good in the first place. :)

This to me has stood out as the hidden story of 2015. I don't know if this year it's more pronounced or if I'm just noticing it more, but Pats seem to have a 20 yard advantage every week in starting field position. With such a good offense this is huge as law of averages they will score TDs if you give them enough drives starting from their 40.

It really struck me last night as I watched the Cowboys lose all momentum giving up that kick return td. Forget a return td, when is the last time an opponent made a game changing return? The Lamichael James and niners? Such a rarity and goes so unappreciated.

This is why the Patriots employ as many dedicated/core special teamers as they do.

Ken, I'm convinced that he's completely allowed the players to dictate their roles to get their "buy-in".

That will give them a "quick high", but can be exploited by a good coaching staff, and once it is, when the new coach tries to adjust and change those roles the players think they are entitled to - trouble will follow.

That sounds like speculation (but that's speculation on my part). What have you seen to give you this impression? In other instances, this has been called putting your players in a position to succeed.

I raise this question as food for thought as we look at the Dolphins over this short week.

When coaches are replaced midseason, it's not atypical for that team to show an immediate improvement for a short period of time, before regressing to their mean.

For me, this was the best game of the year! A real "character" win against a tough, physical team. This will make us stronger as we head into January.

Do you think "The Witch Hunt Crowd" on Park Avenue enjoyed it as much as we did? :D:D

Just when you think you've seen it all from the GOAT, he produces this masterpiece! I was most impressed with his ability to put the drops behind him and just keep carving up their Secondary. Post-game, even some of the Jets players were a bit in awe. Wow.

Big, big win in the standings for us, and plenty to work on for BB and the coaches.;)

Thrilled for Danny Amendola!

Most here recognize Brady as the GOAT, no one takes Brady for granted at any level. I've been a fan since the 60's, I am well aware that we will never have it this good again.

I thought a few of the throws to LaFell were difficult chances, would've been excellent catches if he'd made them. He clearly blew 3 or 4 but the others were not gimme's.

Our front 7 controlled the game. After the first few possessions, the Jets O had tough going. Branch is becoming a monster. Hightower is insanely good in all phases. Jones is playing for a big payday. Nink is the glue.

Did anyone catch whether Wendell played a snap? I didn't see him take any..

I liked what I saw out of White. He was better blocking than I thought he'd be.

Disappointed in Mike Williams on not recognizing the blitz and picking up the defender as he was in motion.

It was very disappointing to see so many drops by Lafell.

It was good to see the 2 catches by Dobson where they clearly targeted him as the primary target.

I'm wondering how bad Edelman's hand is. Couple of uncharacteristic drops since dislocating that finger.
Oh...LaFell, accounted for half the drops all by himself today with 6. Forget it and move JoJo.

From what Jeff Howe said after last week's game, Edelman's finger hasn't been an issue since he hurt awhile ago..
