This. I don't know if Lafell will contribute much today, but it's a good move because at least he covers up one of their cornerbacks. Revis and Cromartie can only cover two, that leaves three of Gronk, Lewis, Edelman and Amendola to be covered by lesser players. So long as the OL can protect him, Brady's going to feast.

Mr. Optimism over here ;)

I'm a bit worried that this game is going to continue the pattern of recent close match ups with the Jets, especially if Lewis does not play.

Is there a dose of pregame oneupsmanship?? A late addition to make the Jets think about something other than they already have..

As much as I am glad to see he is back, how much can he contribute after 1 week of practice??

Without regard as much as I want this to be different, this game will be a close win for the Pats...

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Brandon LaFell will play Sunday against the Jets.

Activated off PUP on Saturday, LaFell can expect to draw Antonio Cromartie in coverage while Darrelle Revis primarily sticks to Julian Edelman. Per Schefter, LaFell will play "at least" half of the Patriots' offensive snaps.

Your first sentence should bring no anger from anyone. It's just the nature of the game. What WR ISN'T to some extent, a product of the QB they played with, just as the QB is to some extent, a product of their WR's. That is the beauty of football. EVERYONE's success or failure is so interrelated with everyone else's,

One of the biggest misnomers that TV marketing has brought to professional sports has been the emphasis of individual players over the team. Before around the 80's, TEAMs won championships. Ever since that time, with every passing decade. the focus of winning has gone further and further from the team and on to the INDIVIDUAL.

The wrongness of it becomes even plainer when we talk about football, because no game is more team-dependant. Just watch tomorrow and see how much more the media talk will be about Brady vs Revis, instead of the Jets vs the Pats. These days its ALL about the individual personalities.

As for Lafell, he is a good NFL WR, but there is no doubt that his play is going to be made better playing with a QB like Brady and an OC like McDaniels. But we've also seen that Brady is an elite QB, maybe the best of all time, but he isn't as good a QB without Gronk as he is with him. Just as when his OL isn't effective his play drops precipitously as well. As we saw the first 4 games last fall. Everybody's success is so dependent on each other.

Well said. Martin is real quick and gets up to speed quickly. He's found a small role, but if that role meas a couple first downs, that's huge. There's only one football, you need role players who can make a certain type of play.

Same with LaFell. He's miscast as a deep receiver, but once they got him the ball in stride, he became a monster with YAC. He was just a JAG with his former team, but he fits beautifully in that intermediate role as he's a beast to tackle.

He's reportedly been traveling with the team. I wonder if he's allowed to play catch?:D

Lafell coming back is the nail in the coffin for Dobson? I feel that's a bit of an exaggeration. Lafell was always slotted to be the starter when healthy based on his overall performance last year.

I don't know what's going on with Dobson. Does he have some kind of minor nagging injury? But his size/speed combo when on the field is still useful to throw out there considering how thin we are overall in the outside WR department. Until I see he has been cut, I don't believe BB has given up on him yet. He's still young and in terms of actual experience/playing time has only seen .75 seasons of action so far.

Needs to sit the rest of this out.

Our offense looks worse with him in right now!

Stone hands lafell

LaFell should not be on the field today.

jinx it. His return seriously jeopardizes this game

Lol @ this thread. Hope JoJo's hands aren't cement again like before he got here.

Question is has he been practicing with the jugs or is he over confident and under prepared.

Can we put him back on pup? Cuz his hands making him unable to perform lol

Can we trade him back to Carolina for any one on their defense?

Tough game for LaFell but he's earned the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly...he was suffering from rust after missing the entire training camp...let's give JoJo a pass. Despite his dropped passes... we still won
