Richardson guarantees jets victory over the Pats

Well, if he's annoyed he could smoke a blunt and drive 143 miles an hour with a loose handgun under his seat and contribute to the delinquency of a minor to unwind.

Legal experts, how many crimes could he be charged with in that sentence if he did that in NY or NJ?

He guaranteed along as they execute. I guess every person can guarantee they will win as long as they execute.

Sheldon Richardson did not join Joe Namath as a Jet guaranteeing a victory this week, and he’s upset that his words were interpreted that way.

As PFT noted yesterday, Richardson said the Jets are going into Sunday’s game with the expectation that they’ll beat the Patriots “if we go out there and execute and do what we’re supposed to do.”

That’s a pretty big “if” — after all, the Patriots have a knack for preventing the other team from doing what it’s supposed to do. But Richardson was saying that if the Jets play the way they need to play, they’ll win. That’s how most players think heading into most games.

Richardson’s words were originally reported in Metro New York under the headline, “Sheldon Richardson Guarantees a Jets Win at Patriots.” That led Richardson to complain on Twitter that he doesn’t like giving interviews at all because his words get twisted — with an apparent shot at Commissioner Roger Goodell over the NFL’s rules requiring every player to talk to the media.

The headline has since been changed online to “Sheldon Richardson Confident in a Jets Win at Patriots,” but by the time it was changed, Richardson’s alleged “guarantee” had made its way around the Internet and talk radio. Richardson has every right to be upset that a media outlet decided to get clicks by attaching his name to the word “guarantee,” a word he didn’t use.
Semantics. So he didn't utter the word "guarantee," but he DID say, "This is going to be another win for us" and “We’re going to be up in the division." Those are declaratory statements referencing the game's outcome. A guarantee is a declaratory statement. He made a guarantee. He is a loudmouth Jet who can't stay away from trouble. You are a Jets fan who can't accept reality. SOJ.

Quoting my buddy Norm @NormZauchin ...

"Ah, the selective quote. A favorite of politicians and rabid sports fans."

Yeah, "selective quotes" can be problematic when spoken by an idiot who should've kept his trap shut.

Awww, you seem quite perturbed. Listen man, have fun with it and believe what ya like. If it makes ya feel better to read it that way, cool, I'm happy for you. Maybe it gives the Pats a great advantage this game and makes the Jets stupid clowns. I don't think so. Many here don't. And from what I hear, many writers and talk radio personalities in the NE area think it was taken out of context too. If ya feel the need to continue on this topic, cheers and have at it. You're on your own though.

Anything else you'd like to discuss?

He is a Rex player through and through. The type of player who will call a timeout on the sidelines. Do what you want type with no discipline. I like what Bowles is doing with the team. It seems their heads are at the right place however Richardson may be suffering from nostalgia. I would not be surprise if he is shipped elsewhere and they keep Mo.

Awww, you seem quite perturbed.

Not at all, I just marvel at the lengths to which Jets fans go in rationalizing their pathetic lot. Someday, a PhD. candidate will write a thesis on the phenomenon.

Listen man, have fun with it and believe what ya like.
You see, that's the difference I'm talking about. It's not about "belief," it's a matter of acknowledging reality.

If it makes ya feel better to read it that way, cool, I'm happy for you.
Your faux magnanimous ******** fools no one here.

Maybe it gives the Pats a great advantage this game and makes the Jets stupid clowns.
That's just a bizarre idea.

"Many," "many." There you go again. Exactly how many? Did you conduct a survey? Take a poll? Or once again conjure up something you want to "believe"?

If ya feel the need to continue on this topic, cheers and have at it. You're on your own though.
Well, you're the one perpetuating the nonsense by parsing words around your boy's guarantee, blaming reporters, etc., etc. I'm just holding you to your deluded conjectures.

Anything else you'd like to discuss?
Yes! WHY are you a Jets fan? Forgive me, but I have a morbid fascination with the masochistic mindset.

Geez Tune, chill, this isn't the Super Bowl on Sunday, just another game for the Jets.

I hope you and your bird enjoy it.

Why do you assume I'm not "chill"? I'm fine. I know this isn't Super Bowl Sunday ... do you? ;)

I hope you and your bird enjoy it.
I'll be at the game, the bird is watching on TV.

The biggest issue I have is that fanboy manish Mehta finger wagging on Twitter calling reporters "amateur". Guy is Woody johnsons personal lapdog.

Gotta admit, he is pretty entertaining.

So he should have said "this is going to be another loss for us" instead? In the end, this is a good example of why you shouldn't say anything to the media. The guy was expressing confidence in his squad and the New York vultures twisted it to him guaranteeing victory. Now everyone is biting it hook, line, and sinker because people are so desperate for that BULLETIN BOARD MATERIALZ LOLOL.

He was quoted directly. What he said was the same as a guarantee, he just didn't use the words "I guarantee."

Yeah. So it's not a guarantee. What Namath said was a guarantee. This is just something that the media spun and now the panties of PatsFans are in a wad. I would have a problem with my team if the players weren't confident in a win. The only difference is that Richardson said it to the media while the Pats players say it amongst themselves.

This forum really must miss Ryan. Because some of you are really, REALLY reaching on this.
