The Asterisk Project

It just proves how lame their team and fan base is. Let's not worry about getting our 5h!t together and try to get better (Like the Pats do), thru hard work. Lets whine like little *****y, butt hurt children in our PC, "oh poor me" world. If our team or fan base went to these extremes, I would stop being a fan. Who the F' would want to be a part of that. Jeez, it's pathetic. The Dolts are hands down, the most pathetic, stomach turning team in the league. And that's a big accomplishment in this whiney, pathetic, stomach turning league. They make the Jest look respectable. I look forward to years of beating their ass

Because they know that as long as Irsay owns that team, they won't have their **** together and will suffer from incompetence til kingdom come.

It's a better mode of existence for them as well as fans of other teams that have been habitually whipped by the Patriots, to choose the perception that it's the Patriots cheating that makes them such a dominating organization, rather than the harsh reality that it's in fact their own dysfunctional owner (and by extension, their dysfunctional organization) that's responsible for allowing this, time and again.

The Colts fans have been conditioned to think this way for a long, long time. I grew up in Indiana and in the last decade I spent a lot of time there helping my elderly parents, who have both since passed. While visiting Indiana I would listen to/watch Indy sports coverage.

After every game (and usually after a WIN, mind you, because they were good), Bill Polian would break down the game for the fans. He would focus on all of the (in his opinion) questionable calls that went against the Colts. Then he would outline all of the Colts injury issues. It was one big excuse-fest. And after they LOST, WOW, it would be unbelievable. He'd get the fans breathing fire, because most assuredly (in his warped mind) the Colts had been WRONGED. No way anyone would beat them fair and square.

Even with Polian long gone, this mindset STILL permeates their every thought. It's bizarre.

I can't believe that they have actually gotten 9 people to donate money. I guess there is a sucker born every minute.

Well, I did see some morons at the Dolts game that spent their money on deflated football hats so I think the frequency of 'mentally challenged suckers is not as rare as that statement used to be.

I don't have the time, energy or hate to do this, but someone should "drop a dime" to the IRS on this enterprise.

Is it functioning as a 501c3? If so, where are its public filings?

Or does the money go to an individual? If so, is s/he reporting this as income?

Just to trumpet my own horn, after PBPF posted his comment on the site I wrote up one of my own. From the top I explained how the money would automatically transfer to the campaign organizer, regardless of reaching a funding goal. I then went into the absurd hypocrisy of the 'scandal', brought up other ball tampering examples that went unpunished or resulted in a slap on the wrist. And finished off with things like the Broncos subverting the cap during SB seasons, and droves of Panthers and Seahawks players getting popped for PED's during/after SB runs, confirmed instances of cheating that are far more egregious and beneficial than an alleged deflation of footballs 0.2 psi below expected levels.

I logged back in ten minutes later to copy the comment and post it here, but comments had been switched off :)

Whether this is the doing of a Colts fan, a Pats fan, an opportunistic person, I'm not a huge fan of it tbh. 'A fool and his money are soon parted', no doubt that's true...but this is a dishonest 'campaign' and the site shouldn't allow frivolous fundraisers with no ultimate goal for the money to pollute what is generally a good site.

Just Indy doing what it knows. If you can't win, call the winners cheaters.

Did the deflate blimp thing ever actually happen, or did it never full get off the ground (womp womp deflated balloons  )

I'm gonna' start one to get an asterisk next to the Colts* championships, because why the hell not? It's apparently all arbitrary anyway. In fact, every time I mention a team I don't like, or a player who played for them, they're getting an asterisks from this point forward.

Broncos* definitely works, because they cheated to win both SBs. Colts* would work as well, because they piped in fake crowd noise.

The blimp owner was probably convicted of witchcraft and burned at the stake for his "flying demon device".

The knucklehead who started this is Jim Purucker, executive director of the Wine and Spirits Distributors of Indiana. My suggestion is that he stop drinking and start distributing.

I can't for the life of me understand why he needs $10 million. Asterisks are free.

Anyway, I sent him an Asterisk (*) via his business web site for his his record book at Executive Director Jim Purucker : Wine and Spirits Distributors of Indiana

"Puntrucker" would make a fine name for the botched fake punt.

He'll be getting one from me too. Maybe I'll even fancy it up some.

Would this apply to all "Go fund me" or "Kickstarter" accounts/fundraisers? Just curious.

I see them a lot for various causes, most of them good, or for people who actually need financial assistance for the loss of a loved one, etc.

Is there a way to simply report a donation or charitable offering, rather than "income?" That would seem much more likely.

I don't know but I'm sure that the IRS has clear guidelines to prevent fraud. When you think about it, people raise money for things ranging from sending flowers to a colleague in the hospital to creating a college fund for the children of someone who has died. Somewhere in between I imagine that there is a line where the IRS says you have to create a 501-3c and report your income, expenditures and the net proceeds that actually go to the beneficiary of the "cause.". Otherwise it could be nothing more than a scam.
