Revis on coming back to NE in 2015: "No. No, the number was too high."

The only time Revis settled for below market value to play for a winner was...2014. But many on here think they are entitled to more from him. He plainly said, had the Patriots come close on the money, he would have taken a slight discount to play here for more years. The Patriots chose to lay up short, which they believe is best for the team, and you can't argue with that track record. No idea why everyone hates Revis now and thinks he was being disingenuous. He gave the Patriots "first dibs" on his services but the Jets made an insane offer.

The most delicious, finger licking good part is this: his legacy will be greatest player in NYJ history, yet he will forever have his ring from their most hated, bitter rival (by rival, I mean superior team that regularly embarrasses them.).

You can't top that legacy from our perspective.

Revis never said he would have stayed in New England for less, his plan and goal was to get back to the jets, period, and he had a deal in place with them before free agency even started. There was no contract the Patriots could have offered that would have kept Revis in NE, Johnson had 55 million in cap space and he was going to top any deal the Patriots offered.

It's all good with me, he helped us win a Super Bowl and we're expected to get a 3rd round comp pick for him. Can't really complain about that.

He also played a big role in messing up the Jets cap for the next few years so they can't clean house or make a big acquisition should the Fitzpatrick express suddenly flame out later this year or next.

Revis never really even took a paycut last year, that was essentially a 17 million dollar contract with 5 coming this year.

I don't know how they keep that d line intact as well.

Maannnn:D, he's part of the Green Beens squad now so, FCKKKKKKKK$ him and those slimy mofs

I'm struggling to understand why people think Revis is a good businessman. Just getting paid doesn't mean he is a good businessman.

Reneging on signed contracts, not negotiating in good faith and having agents and an uncle who do his deals for him, isn't evidence that supports the theory that he is good at business.

The fact that he makes a ton of money year in and year out supports the claim. The product he offers is simply so good that people are willing to pay him whatever he wants.

Pretty sure it was a 12 million dollar contract 5 of which came this year.

Revis was a very big part of our Superbowl run and provided crazy leeway for Belichick when it came to defensive play-calling.

Having said that, boo the **** out of this dude when he takes the field Sunday. He is a Jet.

No that means he is a very good football player.

How many famous athletes make a ton of money and bad business deals?

Answer: Many.

Oh was it? My bad must have Roger Clements'd that one.

How ironic that it was Butler who made the historic CB play in the Super Bowl.

Either way, the guy was key for our SB last year. Probably the best rental ever in Pats history.
Do you really believe he was that key in the playoffs? Smith took him to town, he covered a retired Reggie Wayne, and then gave up a touchdown to Baldwin in the SB.

If Butler hadn't intercepted that football at the end of the game we would have lost and Revis letting himself get picked off by a ref, allowing a touchdown and Baldwin + Sherman talking trash about him on the sidelines to the cameras would have been a big discussion.

I bear him no ill will. He approaches the game with a level of precision and perfection that reminds me of a certain QB...

Sure, Brady is less about the money, but Brady is worth a ton more. These guys put their lives on the line so I don't care how much they squeeze out of billionaire owners. The salary cap should be higher.

Our secondary is much better today because Revis was here last year. Everyone back there benefited from his professionalism, his knowledge and his attitude. No ill will at all from me.
Agree with most, but STRONGLY disagree with the highlighted. I won't go on a rant though because I don't want it to seem like it's being directed at you.

You really think we get to the superbowl without revis? Your nuts. I doubt we get there without him.

Well, given the number who have serious mental issues in their forties...but never mind.

The whole booing vs. cheering ex-player thing is always a little overblown. But to play along, in this case I feel like no reaction at all is the way to go.

He plays for the Jets, and was a bit of a jerk before joining the Pats and since. On the flip side, he played well while he was here and the Pats won a championship with him. So it's a wash to me--now he's just a guy who plays for another team.

Never thought Revis was as good as the media made him out to be.
He got away with a lot, over all, that other players from other teams didn't.
His jumping on the "CHEAT" band wagon wasn't cool. He played a position
very well for the Pat's SB run and win, nothing more nothing less.
To be honest Revis could care less if he was a Jet or a Yankee, money is the
bottom line. jmo.

"Putting their lives on the line" might be a little hyperbole. The military maybe, but some some over paid MFL player?... NO. Revis is a football player who makes a lot of $. Thats enough. He doesn't deserve my fawning .
