We're On To the Jets!

The Jets have faced the Browns, Phins, Eagles, Colts and Redskins. Which O is the best out of these 5?

The Patriots haven't played a good offensive team, either. It's the nature of this year's schedule for the AFC East.

The Jets lead the league in total defense, and their offense is good to excellent. Fitzpatrick has only been sacked twice, and their running game is among the best so far. Bottom line is that the Jets have great offensive and defensive lines.

The Jets will sustain drives and use up a lot of clock on Sunday. Fitzpatrick is the key. If Matt Patricia can figure out how to get him to make mistakes, the Patriots can get a couple of short fields and jump out to a lead. If he takes care of the ball, this will be a nail biter.

I see this as a low scoring affair in the low 20s.

Excited to see how we match them. Nickel with safety playing up in run support? Heavy front? Will we play a lot of zone in run support or go man? Can't imagine we'll play nickel with both safeties deep. On O I'd imagine we'll give a lot of help to the O line. RBs chipping, TEs staying in for protection. If 5 to out in patterns, we'll probably see more cut blocks and quick releases, lots of rub routes.

Anybody know what the Jets mostly play for D scheme? Aren't their D backs mostly in man? That will match up well with rub plays and quick releases.

Would have thought that defense would be higher than #28 in sacks with 8.

The Jets did lose at home to the Eagles. I know they didn't have Ivory or Decker for that game but still WTF?

In fact, the Eagles were dominating them in the 1st half. Would it be unreasonable to expect that, if the Eagles can put up 24 on these guys on their turf, we can put up 28-35 against them on ours?

Strangely, the Jets defense has only generated 8 sacks on the season, good for 28th, 29th, 30th (tie amongst those) in sacks with 8.

As crazy as it seems, if the pats lose sunday they could be facing a must win for the division on 12/27 for the division...
Their schedule is easier than the Pats & outside of Brady best qb they face is eli Manning...u can totally see the nyj being 12-2 or 11-3 going into the 12/27 game...

Conversely, if the Pats win, they have a two game lead on the Rats, as well as tiebreaker and division record advantage.

Very important game.

We played Pitt with Big Ben. That was a good offense. That being said I would think the plan is to linit Ivory and force Fitzy into a Shootout with TB

What the Eagles game highlights more than anything are 3 weaknesses about my Jets:

1. We lack WR depth. The drop off of Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to Marshall and Decker vs throwing to everyone else is drastic. Without Decker, there was no one else in that game who was able to establish himself. Offense suffered, and as a result Fitzpatrick tried to force feed Marshall too much. Resulting in interceptions.

2. We need Ivory. He changes the game for us. I don't think I need to elaborate on that any further.

3. Finally, the Jets Achilles heel is special teams. The Eagles scored a TD on Special teams. We allowed a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown against Washington. Our punter Ryan Quigley is a SHANK waiting to happen. Just disgraceful, that guy is.

2 of those 3 things will be shored up this week with Decker playing and Ivory ready for battle. I HOPE, that is enough to get this win.

Peace, and goodnight.

No Le'veon Bell.

Edit: Or Martavius Bryant

Ivory worries me far more than Marshall and Decker. I think we're going to be able to rough up Fitzpatrick and force him into bad decisions (especially if Hightower is back and they can shoot the A gap using some well disguised blitzes with he and Collins). Ivory is a very physical downhill runner and the defense hasn't exactly been consistent against the run this season. The Jets OL can also open up some holes. I expect the Jets to lean heavily on the running game in an attempt to drain the clock, control T.O.P., and try to keep Brady off the field.

Man, I'm doing the best I can to only look at this week's game and not look ahead, but it was fun reading your comment. Thanks for that!

But what remains to be seen from the Jets is what the Pats are best at. Consistency. Perhaps Bowles has brought it here (we did win after the bye which didn't happen much under Rex), but still has to be proven. To get 12+ wins, you need a well oiled machine from the top-down, like the group up in NE.

I'll be a contrarian. In the NFL, when too many people are expecting a certain result, it doesn't happen. Last week, against the Colts, there was an expectation of a 50 point blowout. It wasn't. This week, playing at home against a 4-1 Jets team that has yet to beat anyone good, everyone is expecting a nail biter. I'll predict the Patriots by two to three touchdowns.
