The Jets height at the wide receiver position really worries me

19 sacks in 5 games. That's outstanding. Problem is Fitzpatrick has had great protection this season. He's been sacked twice in 5 games. A big part of that is they're averaging 146 yards on the ground. This is a bigger area of concern IMHO.

Recently aquired R. Melvin is listed at 6-2. I'd like to see what he can do. I like our scrappy backfield though. I'm less concerned with a Fitpatrick led aireal attack than I am a successfull eat the clock ground game. We'll see.

Good luck trying to find a 6'1 corner now...we have what we have....the best defense is going to be getting a great pass rush!!!! :)

I'm most concerned with Marshawn Lynch Jr. He always gives the pats trouble, and this appears to be his breakout year.

The height difference will affect a few plays but it won't have a significant impact on the impending beatdown.

Besides, if it becomes a major issue...the DB's can always switch to their Frankenstein platform cleats.

This is not going to be a beatdown. This is going to be a 3 or 7 point win or loss

Perhaps BB should line up Collins over center on 3rd and long. Hiiiii-YAH! :)

Solid Post. I love our young D line. Jones Easley brown Sheard flowers

Collins will be an all pro, Hightower a pro bowler..We've drafted very well lately on the defensive side of the ball

Ryan was destroyed in the playoff game. So was Arrington for that matter.

A pass rush that took 23 minutes to get to the Qb didnt help.
And thankfully that has changed.

Well, not that it's a huge loss for the Jets but Quincy Enunwa is suspended for the next 4 games

Aside from that, most #1 WRsn (usually 6'2" or taller) are going to tower over most CBs who are usually 5'11" at the tallest. If good or great CBs were taller they'd probably be WRs themselves! It is what it is.

There's a lot a CB can do to counter that inherent advantage, and the Jets still must execute - so it's no more or less troubling to me than the height difference between CBs and WRs is normally

I agree this is shaping up to be a grudge match. They're a much more disciplined team with Bowles at the helm. We rarely loose at home, though. 36-5 the past 4+ seasons including playoffs.

You forgot about Bolden.

Hope Sheard is good to go for this game, I felt like there was a noticeable drop-off in our pressure on the QB when he wasn't in the rotation. That should help.

You forgot about Bolden.
You are correct sir! NFL.com does not have that listed as a sack. As a matter of fact, upon further reveiw, it should be a half-sack for both him and Logan Ryan.

I hope the intelligent and unbiased people at 345 Park Ave recognize this descrepency and see to it it is not overlooked!

Oh, wait......I forgot.......there Patriots......

Well, we know we have 20 anyway. ;)

So far i have been really impressed with Marshall and Decker. Marshall is such a physical WR on the outside and uses his body really well. The one thing is that he doesn't have that breakaway speed anymore, so my guess is that Butler stays man on him (maybe a bit of a Butler island), Devin roaming around and we try and stack the box to stop Ivory (Chung gets extra time in the box).

Game plan is to take away the running game and make Fitz beat us. BB has enough experience defending Fitz and exploiting his weaknesses that I am sure he knows how to defend him. Defending the actual receivers is third on the priority list.

Aren't Coleman and Melvin bigger corners? Maybe work them in the rotation more too. Plus, like everyone has said, we just need to have a ferocious pass rush. Hopefully Sheard is healthy and ready to wreak havoc. If not, maybe Grissom or Flowers will be back.

Don't worry, we got Logan Ryan

Have you watched Ryan the last two games. He has been solid. Whether he reverts back to his old self is yet to be seen. But if he plays like he did the last two weeks, I like his chances against Eric Decker who can be very soft.

The Jets offense is all about the run. If the running game isn't working and you force Fitzpatrick to throw, the entire offense falls apart. If they can limit Ivory, I am not that concerned about the passing game. Chan Gailey is very predictable and inflexible in that way.

After 5 games Ryan has a 56.7 QB rating against.

Still not sold on him in man coverage but you can't argue with his results.

6-4" Brandon Marshall, 6-2" Eric Decker.

Going up against

5'11" Malcolm Butler and 5'11" Logan Ryan

The 12-14 corners had 6-2" Talib and 6-4" browner to match up on good tall WRs

The 08-11 corners did not, which is why they would frequently get dominated by fades and jump balls

I am worrying that Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler could become victims of physical mismatches, especially against Marshall

I believe the patriots should draft or sign a good 6'1" + long armed CB whenever one becomes available

Darrelle Revis is 5"11", guess how tall Malcolm Butler is...........you guessed it 5'11".
