Post-Indy injury thread: State of the Team

Whenever you hear that other players were coming over to the guy who got hurt it's usually not good though..

Unclear how this is a reliable indicator of medical status.

I know, but when was the last time a player with a season ending injury is standing by himself just a few minutes later?
Just noticed your sig. That's pretty funny.

Huge guys are pounding on each other for three hours, they all have bumps and bruises by the end. When you hear "many teammates were coming over offering their support," it tends not to be a good sign.

And none of those teammates are doctors. They are responding to the way the play looked on the field, just like most people in this thread are. Slater could have a torn ACL, or he could be totally fine. They fact that his teammates said something to him afterward doesn't tell you anything. The fact that he wasn't immediately removed from the sideline to receive medical attention is more telling, if you are looking for some kind of indication of his health.

Great. I hope you're right.

Great. I hope you're right.

I would also add a lot of people were sending flowers to Dominique Easley's funeral a few weeks ago. I think it would be worthwhile not to jump to a lot of conclusions without any information.

Course, om the upside Sea-bass played great, as always. I like to think of Lewis and LaGarrette as " Twist & Blout"

To me Easley was completely unknown, so it was just a matter of hoping. Here, there are signs to me of something more serious. But again, I hope I'm wrong.

Excellent point about Trey Flowers. I know it's going to hurt to sit Sheard, but now is the time to sit him, if needed.

My guess is Sheard and Cannon will be back as soon as next week. Slater could be done.

Word is Edelman's injury happened before this week and probably just jammed it tonight. He played the rest of the game.
I hope you're wrong about Slater. I was optimistic when I saw him on the sideline after the game. That dipped when I heard when was taken off on a cart but then Reiss reported it was a cart full of journalists and that just seemed weird.

Sheard is the critical one here. He better be ok.

I'm writing Slater off unfortunately. Non contact knee injuries never end well.

there was nothing no contact about it, Slater got rolled over the kick prior to this one where he was pushed in the back and then the colt play literally fell and rolled over his legs, then the very next kick a pats player hit his legs.

....jerod mayo..safe to say that he's finished?? freeny plays ahead of him now and he's not any good

Flowers has shown nothing so far, and that's fine. If Sheard is out, I look to Jones and Ninkovich to play almost every rep, as they did last year, until Heard is back. The drop of from either of these two to Jones and Ninkovich is HUGE.

Slater's injury couldn't be as serious as thought if he was walking on the field after the game and partaking in the post game prayer.

As for Sheard, he wasn't in a boot after the game, which most guys leave in after they suffer significant ankle/foot injuries

Idk about finished, but his knee injury is a tough one. Iirc Cruz from Giants had same injury around same time as Mayo and isn't even back yet. Fact mayo is playing since week 1 is a miracle.

IMHO, he is finished as a patriot.

I guess my worry is the patchwork O-line now has a stretch of six games where they face elite D-lines nearly every week. Cannon is the biggest loss positionally, even if he's not as talented/impactful as Sheard, because of this. Hopefully the toe thing isn't anything serious.

Remember just 8 days ago the embarrassment of riches we had on the line, with Stork still to return? Man how quickly things can change in this league. They'll piece it together, we just have to hope and pray that Cannon is alright and stays mostly injury-free the rest of the year.

Not worried about Edelman, and we'll see on Slater and Sheard.
