I've always loved watching this show...until this year. I thought James Brown was a fantastic host. But now that the ultimate geek Adam Schein has replaced him, it's difficult to stomach.

There aren't too many geeky guys that do a good job with the NFL. The sport isn't conducive to that personality type in my opinion. Aside from his geekiness, I don't see Schein adding anything to the show. If anything, he brings the rest of the team down and often seems out of sorts on the show.

Anyone else think the show is barely watchable due to the addition of Schein?

I have enjoyed several of Schein's written pieces, but I don't like his on-air persona at all.

Good point...his personality-type is more conducive to the written word.

Disagree, he's the only one on the show who is somewhat tolerable. The big problem is putting ex players on has a tendency to really dumb things down. Michael Irvin for instance is an idiot who makes a lot of noise, and we end up with a relatively unfunny, unserious take without the insight that the show used to have in the early 2ks. Warren Sapp was a problem for a long time as well.

Show has been going down hill for years really. James Brown and Bob Costas held it together for awhile but at the end of the day you have to put either insiders or coaches on, otherwise you get a bunch of bluster.

Here's a vote for Adam Schein. I don't watch Inside the NFL but he is on a couple other shows I watch. I'm sick of shallow football players. I can't watch NFL AM because I can't stand to watch grown ups grading end zone dances.

They renamed it to NFL HQ. I don't know if they still do that "dancing with the starters" segment but then again I don't always watch that show.

I haven't seen much of Schein live but I agree with the OP, he is absolutely awful on this show. I used to watch this show but I tired once this season and Schein is so weird I couldn't even watch one full show.

The show overall has gone downhill regardless and is overall unwatchable anymore.

Yeah he is annoying as hell. Brown is the ultimate sports host IMO. He doesn't get in the way of the analyst and keeps the topic moving. To go from Brown to this dude was an awful decision.

What a strange complaint.

I cannot stomach him. I find his schtick way too obnoxious and it looks like Boomer is actually embarrassed to be on the same show with him at times.

He's better suited to TMZ.

I agree about shallow football players' commentary. But at least they know the sport from a players perspective. Schein is the type that would have run from football players in high school AND he's extremely goofy....and adds very little to the show.

He reminds me of the 2 goof-balls "Toucher and Rich". Those 2 guys seem like they should hosting a show on the best weed to toke "Like yeah man, try vaping this stuff...wow dude".

I don't know how those 2 made to sports radio. Maybe sports radio is going through a revolution of geeky hosts that don't know much about sports but can talk.

Yes, Adam Schein is an extremely strange person, I agree.

People on this board complain all the time about the dopes on ESPN and other sports shows, so what's so different about complaining about a goof-ball on "Inside the NFL*"?? This is an NFL board Elijo.

All I care about is the substance of what he says. I'm not hung up on how he looks or how he says it.

He's pretty good. I give him a solid B or B-.

I actually remember when the show first aired. Later when they had Len Dawson and Nick Buoniconti as hosts it was one of the best football shows out there. It was 20 minutes of talk and 40 minutes of game highlights.

Then they started increasing the number of hosts and eventually lost Dawson and Buoniconti, and now the show is 40 minutes of talk and 20 minutes of replays, if that. I still tape the show but rarely watch more than a few minutes.

It was the best with Lenny and Nick.

Now it is like the LeBatard or Herd show with 48 minutes of self promo and what they ate for breakfast mixed in with 12 minutes of football.

It's unfortunate that they switched out from Dawson and Buoniconti a year or two before the Patriots began their run.

Adam started off this season by screaming every phrase, to the point where you could see guys around him looking uncomfortable with how bad he was. The only solace is it's taken him a quarter of the season to moderately begin to tone it down, but he's at least starting to. Guessing he's heard plenty of criticism online, so he seems to be adjusting.

Hoping by mid to end of the season he's finally reeled in but, you're right, weeks one and two had me having to constantly work my thumb to raise and lower the volume anytime he spoke...it was painful. He's making progress, so I'm hopeful he'll be better as the weeks go on. But I mostly watch it for the NFL Films footage anyway, the analysis is down my list of reasons - although once in a while something interesting comes up. But it's always something I try and watch each week.

The NFL Films portions are the only reason I watch that show.

They are like the marshmallows in Lucky Charms.

not a fan of brandon marshall. why do the jets allow him to do that show???
