2016 Draft Prospect Thread

Thanks. First half of that video looked to be more opportunistic plays (right place at the right time), but the last minute or so really impressed me. Especially that last play of staying back, letting the runner come to him, and then immediately wrapping him up for no extra yards.

If he can add another 5 to 10 pounds while remaining athletic, this is a player that might be able to go up against Gronk and give him fits in all aspects of play. A complete TE like Gronk (and Bavaro before him) is the holy grail of offense. I've always felt that a SS who has size, quickness, speed, and strength to block/tackle in both the run game and passing game is the holy grail of defense. Kearse might have the raw tools there; interested in seeing how he progresses as time goes on.

Great post. I agree with your interpretation of the video, I too was also a little indifferent early but got more excited as I watched. I saw an interesting comment about him on twitter saying that he'll probably be Kam Chancellor or Taylor Mays and I could see that. I'd like to see some proper game film for him but at that size, he's very interesting.

Jourdan Lewis is the best CB in college right now..Is he coming out this year?

Michigan Football is back! That defense is ELITE!!

I watched Jeremy Cash (Safety at Duke) last year and was unimpressed with him coverage, but this is an outstanding performance against Georgia Tech.

I'd rather we keep Hightower than Chandler Jones. Part of me thinks that Hightower is the glue that enables the front 7 to do what it does. Not sure Collins is the player he is without Hightower.
It's a tough call. Health may be the X factor. Collins is priority one. We can just have Jones and Hightower play on a tender in 2016. Decide at that point. IT's usually harder to find a pass-rusher. We can get a run stuffer to replace Donta on 1st down. Get a coverage guy for 3rd down. Maybe we trade Chandler for a 2017 1st after this season.

Hightower isn't just a run stuffer though. I don't think the gap between Collins and Hightower is as big as you seem to be suggesting. The best four players on our defense are Collins, Hightower, McCourty and Sheard in my opinion. I hope they keep Hightower.

Had him in my latest mock.

Worth bearing in mind when scouting:

I agree. I said in another thread earlier that I feel that the Collins and Kueckly are the 2 best LB's in football, and i honestly feel Hightower is right behind them.

I'd add Bobby Wagner and Thomas Davis to that list although where they sit on it is up for debate.

We've invested heavily in defense the last 4 drafts. 13 picks in the first 3 rounds. Only off players were Jimmy G and Dobson. I'm thinking T and WR.I hope we address CB in free agency. Re-up T. Brown and
go after Sean Smith.

The Patriots offense seems pretty set though for the most part. The OL should be good for years to come with just low round picks to round it out. TE seems fine. RB seems fine. WR (if Amendola stays) seems fine. Really OT is the only spot which we could use another body.

I still think with how our Offense looks the D should still be the focus. It be nice to get another CB and LB.

I can see us drafting RB with our first pick. Isnt Blounts contract up?

Plus looks like its a deep draft for RB's

My dream scenario would be to trade Chandler Jones for a 2017 1st and get Leonard Fournette. It's never going to happen but let a man dream!

And this is coming from a guy who was one of the most vocal on this board about not wanting to spend a high pick on a RB because the value isn't there. Fournette is just an absolutely special player.

Keep dreaming, cause that's never going to happen

Trading Chandler for a first? Or drafting a RB in the 1st??
Either really but especially trading Jones for a first, I just cant see a team giving up a 1st round pick for him.

Probably true. He's no Richard Seymour. Al Davis isn't around either.

He very much reminds me of Asante Samuel, except Lewis is more physical.
