Bronco's defense

Nothing specific to the Broncos, but I've always been impressed with Phillip's defenses...early in the season. The problem is that they always seem to peter out pretty suddenly.

The Broncos defense was great at the start of last year too. They gave up more points early in the season, but a lot of them were garbage time points in the fourth where the Broncos had the game locked up.

Also Ware started out strong last year too. He had 7 sacks after 6 games last year (he currently has 4.5 sacks after 5 games). He finished the season with 10 sacks. With his back injury, his late season decline could be quicker.

By the end of last year, Ware, Miller, and Talib were all shells of themselves when they started the season. Phillips' defense have a tendency of wearing down late in the season because they are so aggressive and those three players are players who have had a history of wearing down in the season.

They seem to be very overrated right now, having played incredibly poor teams. If they can limit GB and NE, I will give them some respect.

Even if their defense is legit though, their offense is beyond atrocious. They will be lucky to get to 10 points against us. Whereas we will put up at least 24-28 points.

The thing with Wade Phillips defenses is they look great against average to below average offenses and then absolutely get demolished by elite QBs. See Patriots vs Texans 2012 and lots of games when he was in Dallas.

Our yearly obsession with manning teams continues where we question how good they really are every time without giving much credit most of the time They beat oakland - oakland sucks. If they beat packers - packers suck on the road anyway :)

If Manning obsession exists then why are we helping his cause by criticizing the defense here and not his pathetic QB play?

Let's not forget that Edelman is the last player to record a TD vs Harris. He truly made him his ***** on that night:

manning teams is what i meant. not just him.

I live in denver and don't care/pay attention. They're a joke of a franchise that has never won a super bowl without the aid of the worst cheating incident the NFL has ever seen.

As far as Broncos/Pats... Champ fumbled into the endzone, and in 2013 we suddenly lost 2 probowl caliber tight ends.

It will get cold and they will collapse.

While on the topic of Denver....

Does anyone have a way to watch the Denver/KC game? Someone on another site was making the case that Manning's numbers look worse due to some dropped passes and other forms of bad luck. I responded that, if we are going to accept that, then we should include the fact that two of Manning's TD drives against KC had early dropped interceptions.

Long story short, he disagreed and even pointed out that the PBP of Denver's final drive doesn't include a pass breakup. Nonetheless, the I can still see the play in my head so clearly (an ugly duck along the left sideline that was too far inside and only the DB had a chance) that I'm reluctant to admit error.

If anyone has the ability to scan through Denver's final drive, or perhaps their last couple since I may be recalling the play correctly but I have the placement wrong, I'd really appreciate it.

Can't re-watch it right now, but Denver's final drive was actually beautifully done, iirc. Manning made a great TD pass. I thought KC was Manning's best game, by the way.

EDIT: Here: nice throw, a little floaty a little behind, but hard to fault it.

Thanks, but I was referring to an earlier play in the drive, not the TD pass itself.

Not concerned. They have talent but the fatty Phillips F they run is a shooting gallery for TB.

The final drive in KC is probably the only time Manning has looked like an NFL calibre QB this year.

Bronco's fans have been complaining about the Pats easy schedule. They don't want to hear it when I tell them that Andrew Luck is the #1 QB according to the preseason pundits and the the Bills and Jets have the #2 and #3 defenses in the league.... @NYG is and @DEN are much more tough then having NE, GB and CIN at home where the Broncos never lose. Even with crappy QB's they are a tough out. Bronco fan is loving their defense and believe that this edition will bring them a championship. They worry about the offense but won't admit that to a rival. I think more time will help the Broncos offense. Cold weather may not happen here in Denver this winter. It's going to be colder in NE and Cincy. Remember the playoff game in 2013? We wore shorts in January. This Broncos team will not be tested till GB comes to town. Apart from NE and CIN they might have the easiest schedule in the league.

We've had a more difficult schedule than them through week 5. That's just a fact, regardless of whether or not they acknowledge it.

However, from week 6 to 17, their schedule is definitely more difficult than ours. I believe they will drop at least 4, and possibly even 5 games the rest of the way. Whereas we could very likely go 14-2.

Not even close to Seattle. They will get undressed by a quality offensive unit. Ware is already breaking down, as he does every season. Miller disappears every season past the halfway point. Talib is Talib, comes out smoking then fizzles out due to wear and tear.

Nothing remotely close to Seattle.
I don't get the posters saying Denver's defense isn't Seattle's! It's not but the Seahawks defense is nowhere near as dominant as they were last season! Did you guys see the Seattle vs Cincy game? They gave 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter!

Their opponents have a combined 6 wins... Meaning each on average has just over 1 win all year. Can't really draw any conclusions there imo I think I could look like a shutdown corner playing against the heap of trash they've played so far.

May I recommend cutting your losses and immediately ending any arguments, if not conversations in general, with this complete idiot?

I saw a similar post from another complete Manning ball washer arguing that he is still a top quarterback. Why? Because Sanders and Thomas are still in the top 10 for receiving yards, and Manning is the only player with two receivers in the top 10, and no other quarterback has two receivers in the top 10. He then expanded his argument by pointing out that of all the other 31 starters, zero of them have two wide receivers in the top 10, which happens to be a good way to judge quarterback play. Finally, as a closing argument, he reiterated four more times that the golden criteria used to evaluate a quarterback is how many of that QBs receivers are in the top 10 in the league in receiving yards, and that Manning has two, more than any one else. It was some really compelling stuff.

Expect Denver to Ware down, pun intended, and Aqib "Gandalf" Talib to peace out to the locker room when they need him most.
