Anyone else think the Pats WON'T go out of their way to embarrass the Colts?

I know we're all talking about it but honestly I don't think they'll do it. They may be seeing them again this year plus I don't get the sense that they want any kind of "revenge" nor have a lot of contempt for that organization. They just want 5-0 and that's it.

Now IMO if it was the Ravens this week... that would be a different story.

They'll play the full 60 minutes, whatever that entails.

If there's a huge lead one hopes Brady is protected. Aside from that I prefer to see both teams give 100% for 100% of the time

If that means the Patriots win by 60 so be it

I think this is more for the fans and media. Pats will try and win .Its hard to win the game .Dont think players are going in thinking lets embarrass them. This whole pats revenge tour doesnt really register with me.. Pats are scoring and winning because they are a good team and better than others. Attributing their sucess to motivation and revenge is shortchanging their abilities. If the revenge tour thing was real, we wouldnt have lost the 2007 Superbowl. Very similar to in 2000's when experts would constantly say "they dont have a single hofer on their team, but they just dont make mistakes and thats why they win" .

Agreed. I don't see why people are writing this off as a slaughter. The Colts are coming off a 10-day rest for a game at home on national TV.

On top of that they have been playing stellar football against some tough competition thus far.

When the game is over will Matt still be Matt or will he be Elisabeth Hasselbeck?

He never asked for this ... but it is what it is ...

It's true, but even the announcer said it was very uncharacteristic of the Pats. Plus, this was a playoff game, not game 5 of the regular season.

A version of this would be OK:

12/17/89: Bengals 61 Oilers 7

http://riverfrontgrumble.com/this-d...core-on-glanville-121789-bengals-61-oilers-7/

There was really no other coach hated as much as Jerry Glanville.

Head Coach for the Oilers who replaced long time Houston coach Bum Phillips, Glanville had the roughest and toughest players on the field as he showed off his group of guys that would play after the whistle with late hits and plenty of trash talk. Glanville dressed in all black on Sundays and was seen as the enemy of the Central. And no one hated Glanville than the Bengals own Sam Wyche. So when Glanville brought his black getup to Riverfront for a Week 16 matchup with the Bengals, Wyche would not let him out easy.

The Houston Oilers were sitting at 9-5 and at the top of the AFC Central as they traveled to play the 7-7 Bengals. Wyche and the Bengals came out firing, and literally wouldn’t stop until the clock hit all zero’s in the fourth quarter...

Bengals 45 Oilers 0, 3rd Q,

Wyche...calls for an onside kick that is recovered by Bengals WR Ira Hillary. That would lead to the third Bengal to run for a touchdown, this time it was Eric Ball from five yards out to extend the Bengals lead to an incredible 52-0 mark...

Backup Quarterback, fellow left hander Erik Wilhelm tossed a ten yard touchdown to Hillary who added to his onside kick recovery for the final Bengals touchdown. But the scoring wasn’t over. Wilhelm, who completed seven of his eight attempts, found Stanford Jennings for an 11 yard completion as the time ran down. Wyche called a time-out to stop the clock and allowed Jim Breech to add three final points on the board. Final Score Bengals 61 Oilers 7....

“I don’t like phonies and I don’t think Glanville is a very genuine guy”, Wyche said postgame. “I feel sorry for the Houston players having to put up with him.”

Wyche and Glanville have never spoken since this meeting.

pound the ball until they stop it. they didn't in the games last year.

I don't want anyone to get hurt. Just embarrassed.

I want to see Luck pulled in the first half and sitting on the bench.

I want to see shots of Irsay losing his mind.

I want the commentators making statements such as "Wow, the Colts really are out of their league".

I want the fourth quarter being treated as a pre-season game with all the backups in and still scoring touchdowns.

I want to be able to read the next day an article from the Indy times which will read like it was the last of days for a Colt's fan. "Yes Colt's fans: Your team Sucks"

Maybe it will end up a 40-20 game but I will continue to wish for these things because I truly want the Colts to eat their Karma pie.

LOL, the score might end up this way, but BB will just say after the game, and I quote:

"Good to get a win on the road against a tough opponent."
"We had some good plays, but there are still things we need to work on. I need to coach better and the players need to execute better."
"We're on to the Jets."

Book it.

Booked.

It's not in the article I linked, but I recall Wyche also saying after the game that it was a crying shame that they ran out of time, and 61 was not enough....

I lived in Cincinnati at the time. The Oilers lost the next week to the Browns, then got pasted by the Steelers in the playoffs, then Glanville was fired. The Falcons hired him, though.

Call me old fashion or whatever but I'm nervous about this game because you never know on any given Sunday. The Patriots are clearly the more superior team, but as we saw in 2007, sometimes the other team can get quite a few bounces their way that allow them to pull off an upset.

I think the Patriots will win and I hope its a total blowout of epic proportions, but I can't help but be nervous for this game. It's going to be an intense "playoff like", emotional game on Sunday Night Football, on the road in a very hostile stadium to a team that just had 10 days to prepare for an opponent that they despise. Wouldn't surprise me if they pulled a Rex Ryan and had started preparing for the Patriots weeks ago

Agree. I want to see a bloodbath, but I fear that this "blowout fever" might backfire on us fans

I'll be happy with a comfortable no-drama win and no injuries. This "revenge" thing has been blown out of proportion and I'd bet Belichick is doing his best to damp down emotions here. We saw what happened with the Bills when they let emotion get the better of them - stupid penalties and poor play.

Brady is an emotional guy, you can't see it in him on the sidelines, he handles the media really well and leaves the emotions on the field. This game means something to him and the entire offense. It would be naive to think Brady isn't motivated to blow these guys out and I'm sure McDaniels won't get in their way. Expect more downfield throws than usual.
