Two Old Drunks Scoffing At TB12's Nutritional Regimen

While I agree with the gist of your comment, I disagree with the assumption this all comes down to billing. The AMA or the American Cancer Society or any other medical group would never discredit the belief that living and eating more healthily, may decrease certain disease risks...but treating those diseases simply through "alternate ways" that are unproven, untested, or lack scientific basis is not and should not be something that any organization (FDA) allows.

BTW- nobody is giving anything for free here. Whether it is Alex Guerrero, your medical doctor, or your $400 vitamin. Someone is either "selling" medical care, snake oil, a gym membership, yoga classes or just a healthier life...but it is all at a cost and done as a business.

Maybe I'm too cynical, maybe I'm just a product of my environment.
-I have friends who work for pharmaceutical companies who refer to Lipitor as the "create more business" drug.
-Many of the sponsors of the "pink ribbon" campaign make products that are carcinogenic.
-the FDA lets companies snake HFCS into products by labeling it "natural flavors";
-metabolic syndrome has reached epidemic proportion thanks to the efforts of scumbag companies like Archer Daniels Midland;
- the "health care" industry makes money hand over fist treating medical conditions relating to poor diets;
-rather than addressing the root cause of the problem (poor diets) the socialists running the country decide that the solution to nationwide health problems is forcing us to buy over priced/crummy insurance that accomplishes nothing but makes a handful of assh*les rich and bankrupt what's left of the middle class.

I applaud Brady for advocating healthy eating but he may make some powerful political enemies (other than the NFL/Goodell) if more people start listening to him.

Maybe he should just shut up and shill crappy pizza like that that big ole lovable dufus Peyton.:rolleyes:

I eat clean and subscribe to much of what Brady says, though I have never eaten avocado ice cream. As someone in my early 40s, I am always, and I do mean ALWAYS mistaken as being late twenties, early thirties. Part of that is just good genetics, but as I stopped eating junk and started eating more greens and clean foods, I was able to work out more and now I am unequivocally stronger that I have ever been. PEriod. I know this because I could never do a pull up to save my life ever and now I can. I have better muscle tone than I ever have. But I was never so strict about diet until now. And YES Coke is poison for kids or anyone. WHy anyone would argue that point is beyond me. That is not good for you. Period. Don;t give me "all things in moderation" garbage. No one's life would be ruined by removing soft drinks from it permanently.

I don't think it's just coke, but soda in general thats poison.

I mean you will never confuse me for Gymrat (remember him?) But I do workout, and if there's one thing I encourage people to give up cold turkey, its soda.

Papa Johns pizza.

You had to ask that on this site?

Well played*

*And Papa Johns' pizza really does suck. I won't eat it, and it has nothing to do with Manning, the Colts, or anything else NFL related.

You said it.

C-R-A-P-P-Y pizza. Bad quality, Southern, non-Italian.

It's the white bread and mayonnaise of pizzas.

No, it's not. Eat a more balanced diet with a higher percentage of leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, and reduce unprocessed foods, and you're going to see improvements in your health -- one of those specific areas being inflammation.

The SAD (standard American diet) continues massive amounts of processed foods, often heavy on dairy, simple carbohydrates, and unhealthy fats. Generally speaking, these foods promote acidic processes thus, over an extended time of eating primarily these foods, blood pH becomes unbalanced and this can lead to inflammation. Unprocessed foods (dark leafy greens, vegetables, seeds and nuts) tend to be more alkaline promoting foods, which helps balance pH, and thus reduce inflammation. This isn't quackery, this isn't pseudoscientific ********, it's simple nutrition. This is a specific way in which eating a healthy diet helps someone (balancing pH within the body), but it's really common sense. Eating a healthier diet makes you healthier.

I'm not saying don't eat vegetables, nuts, and the like. I'm saying the alkaline diet people are pushing pseudoscience because the reason those things are good has nothing to do with pH. It has to do with calories, nutrients (vitamins, minerals, fiber).

I'd be curious to see a reputable journal supporting the alkaline diet theory with a primary research study.

In honor of Chiefsplanet.com, on this day where the loss of J. Charles became official......

I would rather read another DeBerg thread than eat another Papa Johns pizza.

I don't mind it myself, but I can see how unhealthy it is. It's sauce feels like it has a sweet kind of taste. Way richer than Pizza sauce should be.

Definitely not my first choice of pizza.

Brady is well aware of the skepticism of his process. When the guy wanted him to give a speech about his nutrition and training process to the Canucks, Brady seemed to not want to waste his time, if the players were not feeling it. Brady is looking for serious inquiries only.

Everybody has an opinion on something and just because Brady's an athlete, it doesn't mean he's a complete moron. Questioning Guerrero is the same as questioning Brady's rehabilitation center. He is defending his business, his integrity and his business partner. He should've defended himself with as much fire, during the whole deflategate bull. Brady's reaction to Frosted Flakes really put those rumors about Gisele leaving him because he feeds his kids candy to rest.

Guerrero messed up, it's part of the process of finding out whether his crap works or not. He worked with a company, and he strongly believed in the product even if the results weren't as good as he wanted. It didn't work for some and unfortunately, some people died behind it, it happens with research all the time. Guerrero obviously still believes in the product, Brady said he takes the supplements and he's probably still drinking that neuro-koolaid. It works for Brady (when was the last time he was concussed?) he has missed the probowl at times because of "injury," perhaps Guerrero was rubbing the injury away, while feeding him green pills, whatever... it works for Brady.

My only issue with Brady on this matter is that he was advertising the heck out of his and Guerrero's work during his rant. He spoke as if he's some superhuman QB, while he's on this Guerrero plan. He talks about being MVP and stuff as if eating vegetables got him there. He should credit his success to his ability to brace for impact, experience and the players around him. I don't care how much he and Guerrero works on injury prevention, if he gets hit right, he's going to get hurt like any other QB.

As I said, it was just a basic response to keep the conversation going. I simply pointed out some potential positives with the Alkaline diet as an avenue for further discussion.

Alrighty, then!

Did you see yesterday's game?

There should be murder warrants out for Solder, Vollmer and Cannon.

He did that in response to the notion of regular ('western') medicine being the only way to go, noting such things as mainstreams experts talking about his career ending, more surgeries and the like. I don't see how that could possibly be a problem for you.

Why? Is it my life or the FDA's? The FDA is in charge of my life? If they want to recommend things that's fine. But prohibiting like we're children. How many people die waiting for drugs through the FDA's 10 year process? And they still get it wrong. The only person who can properly assess the risk/reward value of a drug or treatment are patients.

I never stated the FDA should tell you what you can and cannot do. But someone needs to regulate the labeling and advertising of things. Otherwise the layperson has no way of knowing what is proper or improper to take.
There are plenty of American to go overseas for treatments that the FDA does not allow in this country. There's nothing wrong with that at all.
I have seen chiropractors and acupuncturist make all sorts of claims to patients. Claims that have never been tested or proven. All they need is someone willing to buy what they're selling and the business can keep going on.

Okay, I misread it.

Do I know you?
no kidding.

I'm in pretty good shape but if you put a bag of kettle cooked potato chips or bowl of cookie dough ice cream in front of me I need to immediately call my sponsor.:p

I had my wife's mon and sister over. I had bought a gallon of ice cream. Usually lasts 3-4 weeks. I'll have a small bowl once or twice a week. The day after I got it I open up the freezer and it's gone. I asked where it went and she said the two of them ate it that day.

I was like, who eats a half gallon of ice cream in one sitting? That's like 4 large blizzards from DQ?

My wife said that's just how her family is. When they eat cereal they get a big Tupperware bowl and eat almost a whole box of frosted flakes.

I'm no health guru, it was just always common knowledge in my world you didn't make a full meal out of sugary treats. A little moderation.

It just strange to me people eat like that. And they don't even feel like it's an indulgence, I think they believe that's how other people eat.

I don't know many people who don't binge, at least on occasion. In fact, I can't think of even one offhand.
