Skip: 'Brady is severely underappreciated'

From listening to that it appears that Smith is not aware that Brady was playing against the Cowboys' defense, not their offense. What does Romo and Bryant being out have to do with how Tom played?
OK so I agree with you 100%, and this is unrelated to anything Smith is talking about, but I'm going to play devil's advocate here. The Patriots' offense benefited at least a bit from the Cowboys' lack of offense combined with some solid special teams play to get good field position. The Cowboys were punting from inside their own 20 for a bunch of drives, and I bet that wouldn't have happened had Romo and Bryant being playing. So the Cowboys' lack of offense was at least peripherally related to the Patriots' dominant scoring.

On the flip side we have these QBs (passer rating rank).

#30 - P. Manning
#31 - Tannehill
#32 - Kaepernick
#33 - Stafford
#34 - Luck
You should have heard how they were defending Mannings stats so greatly. It was ridiculous like it wasn't even a problem.

SAS is racist.

Give Cam Newton Brady's numbers and hardware and SAS would be shouting to the heavens about how he has no equal in the history of American sports.

This is really going too far.

I am surrounded by a ton of people who say the exact same things Smith does.

And they're all white.

The black community prefers to him as a "new black," so I wouldn't say he is racist, just more supportive of black athletes than others. I agree, better yet, I know that if Cam Newton or any other black player had half of Brady's stats and success, he wouldn't be trying to discredit them while boosting up some lesser player.

Smith could careless about that supposed bad man Aaron Rodgers, probably never even watched his games. He only brings up Rodgers because its arguable amongst fan bases that Brady isn't the best "right now." He only brings up Montana because it arguable that Brady may not be the GOAT. His choices are popular opinions amongst doubters and he uses them to defend his "I'm not trying to take anything away from Brady, but..." argument.

Doesn't matter. There are a lot of Brady haters out there.

Yup, and plenty of it in media circles is driven by racism. Sorry if you're still living in the 1980's and can't see it.

BTW, Jason Whitlock and Rob Parker, who are from the same school of media as SAS, say hello.

These guys are entertainment not analysis. They're shop prep consists of deciding on topics and who will take whichosition for their 'debate'.

Truth is they are both as& clowns. Watching their act is proven to lower your IQ. Just say no.

I don't need a couple of idiots on tv (one who is as racist as they come) arguing over Brady's brilliance. I watch the games. That's more than enough to appreciate the man's brilliance.

Oh my God, NEWSFLASH: Brady haters outnumber the ones that are level-headed. Do I need to name the black announcers that like Brady? Really? Because if I name 1 black for every 10 you name that hate him, that's about par for the course for the general population. And I can name a lot who like him.

By the way, I don't like SAS either, but I did force myself to listen.

Did no one notice that his only detraction against Brady was that they played a Cowboys' team without an offense?

Did no one mention that SAS brought up Strahan and Justin Tuck's comments about Brady's toughness, that everyone in the league thinks he is a very tough dude, that any comments about Brady being soft come from the fact he's so good looking, wears nice suits, has a great looking wife, Hollywood allure, etc., that's why people feminize him; and furthermore, he went there on Ryan Clark and Bart Scott. SAS said Clark lost to Brady lot on the Steelers and holds a grudge. He also said that Bart Scott is 3-8 against Brady. Essentially, Bart Scott is a sore loser.

Did people actually listen to what SAS said about Brady?

Haven't seen a First Take segment in a looooooong time. Can't stand these two morons yelling at each other.

But what really struck me was Steven A's hairline. Holy sh!t. Just shave it off already dude.

Or he needs to put on a headband like Lebron to cover it up. Or grow braids like this soccer dude

What does Michael Irving and Deon Sanders liking Tom Brady have to do with the fact that Steven A. Smith practices transparent racial biases in his "journalism"? Here, I'll spare you the back and forth.

"Nothing. It doesn't have anything to do with it."

Your social instincts are horrible and embarrassing.

Maybe you could explain to us why the hell you were watching BSPN in the first place?

they both compliment each other by contradicting each other. that's the game they are playin'. that's why it's the highest rated sports related show and why people watch. you don't to have 2 people agree on everything. that's a bad TV.

hate or love it, first take is a great entertainment sports show. SAS's crazy soliloquy on Keven Durant was pure gold.

bayless is correct. probably brady's biggest supporter on espn besides tedy

as for SAS, he's the al sharpton of sport blowhards...just awful.

Bayless is as big a fraud as Smith. Bayless loves Brady and Romo. Bayless hates Rodgers and Eli Manning. Smith hates Brady and Romo. Smith loves Rodgers and Eli Manning. They both ball wash Goober.

Counting on either of these guys for an unbiased opinion is stupidity. That's not why they're there.
