Peter King is a hypocrite (or worse, a liar) and someone in the media ought to expose him....

I can't help it. Every time Peter King says or writes, all I see is "Hodor Hodor Hodor Hodor Hodor......"

And when ever I read one of your posts I think this:

:D

Way too many. And definitely way too many of my co-workers. ;)

I once worked with a manager who always responded in a three-stage way when anyone pointed out a problem with with her work:

Step 1: "No, that's not true. It isn't like that at all."
Step 2: "Actually, I did it on purpose. It's right that way."
Step 3: "It's been corrected."

No matter how big or how small the mistake, she would never, ever admit having been wrong. It got to be a joke with the people who worked for her, she totally lost their respect.

A lot of us turned on Bountygate after Framegate caused us to look a lot more closely at how those punishments were handed down and the laughable NFL "appeal" process. I guess that makes half of the board hypocrites?
Exactly right. King formed an opinion based on the misinformation coming out of the NFL front office.

When Berman ordered the release of Brady's testimony and it became clear what a hoax this whole thing was it split the anti-Brady people into two camps: those who changed their mind based on the evidence contained in the transcript and those who could not admit they were wrong in the first place.

If anything, I respect King for doing a 180 and having the courage to admit he was wrong to believe what his league sources fed him.

Why is this thread even here? King already admitted that his initial reaction was wrong, and he's already publicly changed his position on deflategate.

Will Patsfans.com posters stop acting like a bunch of malicious gossip hens, please, particularly with regards to starting threads over non-issues?

Look at it this way, OP. Even though the premise was faulty at best, at least you got to start another thread.

He was wrong, absolutely. Then he allowed himself to be swayed by the facts and sort of came around to being right.

What he should be called out on is a rush to judgment based on sources that he--perhaps more than anyone, after the NFL burned him on the Rice story--should have realized weren't credible and had an active agenda at work.

Backing off that stance eventually may be too little too late, but it's certainly not a bad thing or worthy of criticism.

I apologize if you think this thread was a waste of your time. I get aggravated by those talking heads and journalists who preached righteousness and called for Brady to be suspended for what (in his words...) was a simple "parking violation." To me, that strikes me as being dishonest, especially if you haven't yet acknowledge your mistake for falling in with public opinion (something, I feel, no ethical journalist should do)

But that's just my opinion. I'm not expecting all of you to agree with me on this.

And please refrain from those underhanded, personal shots at me

He was wrong at first, saw the facts, then saw the light. It happens to everyone. It really didn't deserve a thread.

Thread shouldn't have been started. End of story. Let's move on.

What's the matter with holding a prominent journalist like King accountable?

As far as I know, he only apologized for confirming (and thereby endorsing) the Mortensen report through his own misreporting. And I truly applaud him for doing that. But King hasn't publicly acknowledged his decision to endorse suspension of Brady. Until then, he shouldn't be suggesting that Brady serve no time, if he himself called for a 2 game suspension.

Lumpy is Lumpy.
Lumpy willingly carries water for his Master ...and then waits.... for others to do the leg work/analysis before safely adjusting his opinion.
Lumpy is a coward.
Lumpy wets his finger to see which way the wind is blowing before offering an opinion.
Lumpy plays to an audience.
Lumpy is a fossil and has been exposed....just like NFLESPN..........mainstream media entities in the bag for Big Brother NFL.

Keep it simple:

...And only switch on the TV one minute before game time. Life's too short to be drowned in the noise/fluff

That's not what you're doing with this thread.

That's the stupidest thing I'll read all day, hopefully.

You're better than this.

“Minihane called out King for his mishandling of the Deflategate story from the beginning, noting that King also made errors in his coverage of the Ray Rice situation — arguable the two biggest NFL stories of the past year.

I did blow them,” King acknowledged, later adding: “I don’t have any defense for it. I don’t.”

Told by Minihane that some would view King’s behavior as reprehensible, King said, “I wouldn’t blame you at all for doing that.

Yeah, there's a clear majority of posters who aren't bothered by King's turnaround, even though he hasn't really apologized for his initial views. If that's what the forum feels like, then there's no point in trying to provoke any more back-and-forth.

So I'll contact the mods, and let this be the final post in this thread.

I'm the guy in the blue shirt with the bottle. True story. ;)

As long as you're not the guy in the tank top you're all set. :)

Do you realize that you are trying to blame others for your 'error', and playing the spin game? How are you behaving any differently from those you are decrying?

I'm desperately holding back from saying as to which poster here I think your former manager was........

Why? I see nothing "wrong" with your thread. Opposing opinions are not prohibited. You have every right to seeing it the way you do. And you aren't the only one. Many others agreed with you, Chiuba.

But if you really want it locked, let me know.

No, you misunderstood me. I'm saying that it's pointless to argue with every poster who disagrees with my thread. It would take up too much of my time for starters, and I really don't feel it would make the forum here a better place.
